Jonathan Rhys Meyers Circling ‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Role

Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Now that Star Wars Episode VII has its director in JJ Abrams, it looks like the ball is rolling in the casting department. Rumor has it that period piece actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers is being looked at by JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot production.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed, word is circulating that if Jonathan Rhys Meyers snatches up a role, it will be the second collaboration between the two.  Meyers, who’s best known for his role on Showtime’s The Tudors, teamed up with Abrams for Mission Impossible III, so it definitely looks like a promising rumor, seeing as JJ Abrams is known to collaborate with a few favorite actors.

Right now Abams is still in the middle of promotion for Star Trek Into Darkness, but as time passes, and the more it grosses, Abrams will eventually have to turn to his Star Wars obligations if he wants to get anything off the ground with the franchise, which he inherited from George Lucas.

The only other development from Star Wars Episode VII is that the original trio is said to return, making for a great reunion between Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher. This bit of news has been confirmed from several different outlets several times, and while it’s not known the extent of their roles, we know that they will be reprising their characters that started it all.

So far there’s no word on who Jonathan Rhys Meyers will go out for, but our guess is that it will be a villainous role, as he seems to really do well with those types of roles. In addition to his rumored Star Wars Episode VII involvement the actor will be seen opposite Liv Tyler and Daniel Huttlestone in the film London Town, and in NBC’s Dracula series.

Do you think Jonathan Rhys Meyers is a good fit for the franchise? Sound off

Rand Paul: ‘IRS Memo Exists, We Need To See It’

Rand Paul IRS

Senator Rand Paul knows in his gut that there’s an IRS memo out there which will prove that the organization has been targeting President Obama’s political enemies. Though he’s never laid eyes on such a thing, the Kentucky Republican just knows it’s out there.

Paul claimed Sunday that there exists a ”written policy” that will prove that the IRS has been “targeting people who were opposed to the president.”

“And when that comes forward, we need to know who wrote the policy and who approved the policy,” Paul said on CNN‘s “State of the Union.”

He was pressed for more details, including how he knows such a thing exists, but he backed off vaguely.

“Well, we keep hearing the reports and we have several specifically worded items saying who was being targeted. In fact, one of the bullet points says those who are critical of the president. So I don’t know if that comes from a policy, but that’s what’s being reported in the press and reported orally,” he said.

“I haven’t seen a policy statement, but I think we need to see that.”

Rand Paul’s “IRS memo” follows with the Republican narrative on the apparent scandal that broke last week, alleging that the tax organization made it difficult for conservative groups to obtain tax-exempt status over the past several years.

The depth of the scandal isn’t yet known, but many Republicans are attempting to draw a direct link between the IRS targeting conservative groups and a “culture of intimidation” within Washington. They suggest that the IRS was either instructed by, or independently working on behalf of, the Obama administration to silence his critics and political opponents.

The IRS did admit to targeting groups associated with the Tea Party or using the word “Patriot” in their title. Two IRS officials are resigning while more are expected to appear for congressional hearings this week.

What do you think? Does Rand Paul’s “IRS memo” exist?

Jodi Arias Wants Life In Prison

Jodi Arias pleaded for life in prison, rather than the death penalty, during a hearing on Tuesday. The request was an about face from an interview Arias gave after she was found guilty last week of murdering Travis Alexander.

Arias told a reporter she would prefer the death penalty to life in prison, because death is freedom. But on Tuesday, the woman convicted of murdering her ex-boyfriend asked the jury not to punish her family for her actions.

Arias, 32, also referred to her victim’s family, saying, “I never meant to cause them pain.” Alexander’s family has already taken the stand in the final segment of her trial, which will determine whether she will face the death penalty or life in prison.

She added during her testimony that she killed Alexander, but that it was in self-defense. The jury believes different, having already convicted her of first degree murder. The jury also determined last week that the murder of Alexander was committed in an “especially cruel manner,” making her eligible for death row.

Arias explained of her decision to plead for life in prison, rather than the death penalty, ”Each time I said that, I meant it, but I lacked perspective. Until very recently, I could not imagine standing before you and asking you to give me life.” Jodi went on to say:

“I cannot in good conscience ask you to sentence me to death, because of [my family]. I think death is tantamount to suicide. Either way, I will spend the rest of my life in prison. It will either be shortened, or not. If it is shortened, the people who will be hurt is my family. I am asking, please, please, don’t do that to them.”

Along with asking for a life sentence, Jodi Arias also stated that she regret’s testifying about the “darker elements” of her relationship with Travis Alexander. She added, “It has never been my intention to malign his name or character. In fact, it was a goal of mine to protect his reputation.”

After Arias’ testimony, the court went into recess. It will convene later today, when closing arguments will be given by both sides. After that, jurors will be excused to deliberate Jodi Arias’ fate.

'Transformers 4' reveals new robots in disguise

Transformers 4 may have had its latest robots in disguise revealed in possible spoilers.

Transformers started out as a rather well-done franchise, with characters you cared about, and special effects that pushed the limits of what you could do on the screen. It even launched the careers of Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf … almost.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was a total mess involving insanely stupid plot twists and stunts that realistically should have killed half of the cast. It was so bad that Michael Bay willingly apologized for the film being a rush job.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon brought the series back to a more positive light, ditching a lot of the dirty jokes and impossible physics that plagued the second film and once again focusing on robots at war. It still had its problems, but it was enough to make Michael Bay decide he would never make another one.

Well it seems Michael Bay changed his mind. Transformers 4 has been given the green light and seems to be in the process of filming, with new actors being added to the roster almost daily.

With that out of the way, it’s time to introduce the new round of robots in disguise. Spoilers may lie ahead if we’re not supposed to know this much. We warned you.

Michael Bay‘s next Transformers film will feature Lockdown, who is said to be the new major villain alongside Galvatron. For those of you who saw the animated film, Galvatron was the character created from the broken body of Megatron. Considering we haven’t seen Unicron, we wonder what the new story is behind Galvatron.

Lockdown apparently has a ship full of decommissioned robots in Transformers 4, including the Dinobots, who get reactivated and join Optimus Prime and the Autobots. Another new good guy will be Hound. Rumor has it that the Autobots will be riding the Dinobots into battle in Hong Kong, which seems odd, but knowing Michael Bay, odd isn’t out of the question.

What do you think of the new robots in disguise being used in Transformers 4?

Donkeys Mauling Death

A pair of donkeys are suspected in the mauling death of a man in Hungary.

Sandor Horvath is believed to have been chased by the animals while visiting a friend on a farm in Magyarszecsod. The donkeys reportedly chased the man down before pulling him off his motorized mobility scooter.

According to The Associated Press, the donkeys dragged the retired firefighter over 55 yards during the mauling. He was bitten numerous times and trampled repeatedly as they pulled him across the farm.

The people who found Horvath originally thought he had been attacked by a pack of wolves. His body was reportedly covered with bites and bruises.

The International Business Times reports that the farmer’s daughter had previously expressed concern over how aggressive the animals had recently become.

“I had noticed that the donkeys were becoming increasingly aggressive and I’d asked my father to do something about it, but he’d said they were fine,” she explained.

A veterinarian from Magyarszecsod explained that these animals are typically not aggressive towards humans. However, the donkeys may have felt that the man was moving into their territory and perceived him as some sort of threat. The donkeys suspected in the mauling death will be put down.

“If these were dogs then they would also be put to sleep. We can’t allow animals to go around killing people. Putting them to sleep is the best thing for everyone,” a representative for the police department explained.

According to The Independent, authorities are still investigating the incident. However, no new information has come to light. Officials are currently awaiting the results of an autopsy before announcing the exact cause of death.

In August of last year, a mayor in Texas was attacked and killed by a donkey he kept on his ranch. ABC News reported that Hollywood Park Mayor William “Bill” Bohlke was kicked and trampled during the incident involving the 500-pound animal.

Although the donkeys are suspected in the mauling death of a Hungarian man, an official cause of death has not been released as of this writing.

IS 237 teacher pleads guilty to statutory rape

A former sixth grade English teacher has pleaded guilty to the statutory rape of a 13-year-old student.

Daniel Reilly accepted a plea deal that would place him under protective custody at Rikers for six months. Once he is released, the 36-year-old will be required to attend sex offender therapy classes. He will remain on probation for 10 years, and has surrendered his teaching license. Reilly was given the deal partly to spare the victim, who is now 14, from having to testify. He was also allowed to take two bottles of an unknown prescription medication with him.

Reilly, who taught at Intermediate School 237 in Flushing, Queens, had sex with the student several times in his Forest Hills home while his wife and baby daughter were away. The two used code words in their text messages to cover up the affair. This continued as recently as last month until the girl’s sister found sexually explicit messages and informed authorities.

“Like other politicians and public figures, he strayed and only thought with the lower half of his body. It was a mistake,” one of Reilly’s lawyers, Eric Franz, said.

Reilly and his 28-year-old wife Annemarie exchanged long kisses just minutes before he accepted the deal. Annemarie Reilly posted $30,000 bail for her husband when he was first arrested on April 9 — the last day of his affair with his student. She was also with him at a previous court hearing. The couple is reportedly moving to Nassau County once Reilly is released in order to start a new life.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said Reilly will be sentenced on July 22.

“This case should serve as a clear and unmistakable warning that law enforcement is prepared under any circumstances to apprehend and prosecute sexual predators who betray and defile youngsters,” Brown said.

David Reilly was honorably discharged from the Marines in 2000, after serving in the Aircraft Maintenance Administration for five years.

Do you think David Reilly should have gotten a longer sentence than six months?

The NFL has given the Atlanta Falcons a $200 million loan to build a new stadium.

Yahoo News reports that the loan was approved today by NFL team owners at the league’s spring meeting. The stadium could cost as much as $1 billion and much of it will be funded by team owner Arthur Blank.

Blank said: “The NFL has supported new stadium construction through various means for decades … Our club owners understand that investments … are important to the long-term strength of the league, and we thank them for their support.”

Blank said that the “multi-purpose arena” will probably take about four years to build. The Atlanta Falcons plan on moving from the Georgia Dome, which they have played in since 1992, to the new stadium for the 2017 season. The Georgia Dome will be demolished after the new stadium is constructed.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said that much of the 2013 Spring Meeting dealt with the “stadium experience.” In addition to approving a $200 million loan for the Falcons, the league also said that there would be renovations at stadiums in Philadelphia and Carolina.

Goodell said: “We spent a great deal of time on the stadium experience.”

The league also decided that the San Fransisco 49ers, who are currently building a new stadium, will be hosting the 50th Super Bowl in 2016.

Melissa McCarthy reportedly fired an extra from the set of her new movie after she spotted the actress mistreating a child.

According to TMZ, the comedian was filming her new movie Tammy in Wilmington, North Carolina, when she noticed one of the extras yelling at her child.

The woman, reportedly in her 20s, was yelling at her five-year-old child on the set of McCarthy’s movie. The noise was loud enough to disrupt filming, which involved more than 200 extras, and at one point the woman allegedly lifted her child harshly by the wrist.

The comedian didn’t like what she saw and decided to fire the woman.

McCarthy hasn’t commented on the incident.

Yahoo News reports that extras were being paid about $60 a day to film near a lake in Wilmington, North Carolina.

McCarthy, who earned an Oscar nomination for her role in Bridesmaids, is currently filming Tammy with Susan Sarandon, Kathy Bates, and Dan Akyroyd. McCarthy co-wrote the movie with her husband Ben Falcone. The duo will also be directing the movie.

Here’s the synopsis from IMDB: “After losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, a woman hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother.”

Tammy won’t be in theaters for awhile but McCarthy fans can see the actress in the latest Hangover movie this weekend.

Are you surprised that Melissa McCarthy fired an extra on her set?

IRS Scandal: Senior Official Will Take The Fifth Instead Of Testifying

IRS official Lois Lerner won't testify

A key official in the IRS scandal will invoke her Fifth Amendment rights against self incrimination instead of answering questions on Capitol Hill tomorrow.

Lois Lerner, who oversaw the IRS division that apparently profiled Tea Party and other politically conservative groups for extra scrutiny, was due to testify before the House Oversight Committee.

Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller, who testified before a Senate panel today, has continued to insist that there was nothing illegal about the targeting of Tea Party groups who had applied for tax-exempt status, although Lerner has hired a criminal defense attorney and it was that lawyer who notified the House committee that she would be taking the Fifth instead of fielding questions from lawmakers. Her lawyer contends that she has committed no crime or made any misrepresentations, but that an open criminal investigation rules out her testimony. In addition to investigations in Congress, the FBI has launched a criminal probe of the IRS in connection with this controversy.

A spokesman for the committee chair Darrell Issa (R – Calif.) commented on this development: “The Committee has been contacted by Ms. Lerner’s lawyer who stated that his client intended to invoke her 5th amendment right and refuse to answer questions. Ms. Lerner remains under subpoena from Chairman Issa to appear at tomorrow’s hearing — the Committee has a Constitutional obligation to conduct oversight. Chairman Issa remains hopeful that she will ultimately decide to testify tomorrow about her knowledge of outrageous IRS targeting of Americans for their political beliefs.”

Lerner created an uproar on May 10 when — in response to a planted question at a tax conference — she apologized for the heavy scrutiny of right-of-center political groups in advance of a Treasury Department Inspector General’s report that deemed the practice inappropriate and the result of poor management. Learner also was the official that apparently quickly approved the charitable status of the Barack H. Obama Foundation in about a month while Tea Party groups often waited two or three years to get the okay from the agency.

Separately, the White House time line about the controversy appears to have changed: “Just a day after telling reporters that chief of staff Denis McDonough and other senior White House staff learned of the situation nearly a month ago, press secretary Jay Carney revealed Tuesday that White House officials had consulted with the Treasury Department on how to make the findings public … Carney said there was ‘discussion about the possibility of a speech’ by Lois Lerner, who oversaw the IRS’s work on tax-exempt groups, and conversation about testimony by the acting commissioner of the agency and ‘what he would say’ if asked about the issue.”

Do you accept the IRS premise that ideology was not involved in the extra review of Tea Party tax-exempt applications?

Steven Spielberg Halo Announced At Xbox One Unveiling

The Steven Spielberg Halo series announced on Tuesday could be the most exciting news item to come out of today’s hubbub involving the next generation of Microsoft-owned consoles.

While there has been much discussion (and criticism) of the new video game unit, this is one development capable of bringing in a wider audience.

Frankly, stacking it up against other announcements — particularly the one that Xbox One will not be backwards compatible — it could be the only reason to even make a purchase as Xbox steals a page from the Netflix and Amazon books of diversifying its initial appeal through original programming.

The Steven Spielberg Halo series will be live-action, and will be executive-produced by the Indiana Jones director, according to The Wrap. It will include exclusive interactive content as well.

In comments reported by NBC News, Spielberg had this to say: “For me, the Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and myth-making meet.”

(Man of few words.)

Stars, director, and writer, were all left out of the release information from Xbox on Tuesday, so we’ll have to update more on that later, but Spielberg isn’t exactly a hack, so there shouldn’t be any issue attracting top talent in front of and behind the camera. Even if he only takes a consulting role in the series development, which we’re expecting, he’s likely not going to let anyone mar his name by turning in an inferior product.

Couple that with the fact Spielberg has been wanting to do a film version of the popular video game franchise since at least 2010, and we have every reason to believe this will rock.

As far as what we can expect on the content side, the previous report from The Inquisitr pointed out that Spielberg had an interest in basing any films he might have done on the Halo novels. Not a great sign, but again, this is Spielberg. We’re sure he’d run it through his Jaws/Saving Private Ryan filter before unleashing it on the public.

How excited are you for a Steven Spielberg Halo live-action series? Sound off below.

Amy's baking company hiring

Amy’s Baking Company, the Scottsdale, Arizona restaurant featured on Kitchen Nightmares earlier this month, held a job fair over the weekend in an effort to hire 30 new employees, including dining room and kitchen staff.

The notorious restaurant shuttered last week after the episode aired and business owners Samy and Amy Bouzaglo had some sort of apparent meltdown on their Facebook page.

They planned for a grand re-opening to take place on May 21 (today) coupled with a press conference to answer the community’s criticisms regarding their unflattering portrayal on Gordon Ramsay’s show.

We know now that the press conference and grand re-opening won’t be happening, and that the PR company hired by Amy’s Baking Company no longer represents them.

However, the job fair held Sunday apparently went well, according to restaurant spokesman Mike Scerbo. He told The Huffington Post that Amy’s Baking Company had “lots of applicants. We are about halfway to our goal.”

It is unknown how many staff Amy’s Baking Company had employed at the time of the episode’s filming, or how many they managed to retain after the fallout.

One of the waitresses from the episode (the one who was fired) did a Reddit IAmA in which she explained that she was the only server, along with he other girl shown in the episode. We also saw a sous chef and a few dishwashers in the episode.

What they’re going to do with 30 staff, we don’t know.

In any case, many applicants were likely put off after the May 10 episode of Kitchen Nightmares which apparently revealed that the owners keep their wait staff’s tips and that they had fired over 100 employees just recently.

'Star Wars Battlefront' teased by Electronic Arts

Electronic Arts has teased a new Star Wars: Battlefront game in the works.

Today during a technology conference, CFO Blake Jorgensen hinted that one of their new Star Wars games would be a Battlefront title. He said, “The opportunity to do a new Battlefront, for example, which is one of the very popular Star Wars games, or some of the other traditional games that were made, is very exciting.”

Previously Star Wars: Battlefront was released alongside the original Star Wars Trilogy DVD set and earned praise all around. Battlefront 2 continued the legacy of giving us scenarios across the film locales. One of the highlights of the game was the fact that an original hero or villain would fight alongside you depending on which side you chose to play as. The idea was to maintain control of the map, and gamers loved it.

After the fall of LucasArts, the Star Wars franchise slipped from the hands of Activision to Electronic Arts, neither of which reportedly has had a great year thus far.

Blake Jorgensen has added, “These aren’t movie games, per se, these are standalone games. But obviously they would come out near the movies and be able to tailgate off of some of the buzz that will be created around the new Star Wars movies.”

Once again, rather than mess with the canon laid down theatrically, Electronic Arts is instead basing the game on its own storyline independent of the films. They are planning to use the popularity surrounding the upcoming Star Wars films to help generate interest in the new game and it will not be based specifically on any of the films.

In the history of movie-based games, we have seen over and over that even the best intentions can turn out to be complete failures. Look at the recently released Star Trek video game, and you’ll see what happens when a developer depends too much on a film to sell a game.

Star Wars: Battlefront has proven itself before, but not in the hands of Electronic Arts. Do you think they can pull it off?

Fort Hood shooter still receiving military salary

Major Nidal Hasan, the alleged Fort Hood shooter, has reportedly collected nearly $300,000 of military pay while he waits to stand trial for murder.

Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the November 5, 2009 massacre in which 13 people were killed and 32 others were wounded. He faces the death penalty if convicted at court martial.

Military regulations require that the suspect continue to receive his Army salary. “The Army said under the Military Code of Justice, Hasan’s salary cannot be suspended unless he is proven guilty. If Hasan had been a civilian defense department employee … the Army could have suspended his pay after just seven days.”

The accused Fort Hood shooter is finally scheduled to go on trial starting July 1.

The Obama administration has inexplicably classified this attack as workplace violence rather than terrorism.  As a result of this workplace violence designation, victims of the attack have been denied the same access to health care and financial benefits that would attend to a combat-related classification along with eligibility for Purple Heart medals. Lawsuits against the Defense Department for this reason are pending.

Hasan allegedly had contacts with Al Qaeda before the attack and is reported to have shouted “Allahu Akbar”” (Arabic for “God is Great”) before opening fire at the Texas military base according to witnesses.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill have urged the Pentagon to reclassify this attack appropriately and are also considering legislation that would block any salary continuation for soldiers arrested for crimes against other GIs. The Army may be able to obtain some reimbursement from Hasan for medical care he received after being shot by a policeman during the incident.

Sgt. Mark Todd is credited for firing the five bullets that brought Hasan down in the rampage.

Do the think the alleged Fort Hood shooter should continue to receive a military salary or should his pay have been cut off?

Priest Suspended, Plagiarized Sermons From Sermons.com

priest plagiarism

Sandwich, MA – An Episcopal priest has been placed on administrative leave after he was accused of plagiarizing his Sunday sermons from a book he ordered off sermons.com.

Reverend John McGinn was suspended by officials at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Cape Cod after it was discovered that he had apparently delivered, word for word, over a dozen sermons from a book called Dynamic Preaching. He had even published some of the sermons as his own.

The 65-year-old had more than 300 families in his “flock,” all of whom received a letter from Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts which read, in part:

“This is a serious breach of the pastoral relationship between John and each of you. I am sorry that this matter has caused pain and will likely cause further pain in the parish. As difficult as this situation is, we know that truth telling helps to bring about healing, and our renewal follows repentance.”

McGinn was first suspected of plagiarism a year ago when he was approached by church elders. He told them at the time that he was not cribbing sermons from elsewhere, so the Diocese “investigated further.”

Bishop M. Thomas Shaw said that the investigation turned up “documentation that not only did he continue to copy sermons and preach and publish them verbatim, in print and online, as his own, but he had been doing so for many years.”

On behalf of local parishioners, Sean Randall, a senior warden of the church, issued a statement:

“For 17 years Fr. John McGinn has raised thousands of dollars for local charities and provided pastoral care for hundreds of people on the Upper Cape. Our prayers are with him as the diocese, St. John’s Church and Fr. McGinn work to resolve this.”

When McGinn himself was approached, he made it sound like he was using “administrative leave” as an opportunity to begin the early stages of his retirement.

“I’m going to retire,” he said. “I loved my time at the parish. That’s all. I think I did a good job.”

brad pitt

Did Brad Pitt just slam his marriage to Jennifer Aniston again? The actor recently opened up to Esquire about a dark period in his life which just happens to coincide with his marriage to the Friends star.

Pitt said that he felt like he was wasting his life in the early 2000s and that he needed to make a change to be happy.

Pitt said: “For a long time I thought I did too much damage-drug damage. I was a bit of a drifter. A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired … I spent years f-ing off. But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity. It was a conscious change. This was about a decade ago. It was an epiphany.”

Pitt was just finishing up the first Ocean’s 11 movie about a decade ago. He had one Oscar nomination under his belt and a seemingly happy marriage to the beautiful Jennifer Aniston. Of course, Pitt wasn’t exactly happy in the relationship.

In 2011, the actor opened up about his marriage to Aniston saying that he felt “pathetic” during that period of his life.

Pitt said: “I spent the ’90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic. It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn’t living an interesting life myself … I think that my marriage [to Aniston] had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn’t.”

Aniston and Pitt would divorce in 2005, the year that he starred opposite Angelina Jolie in Mr. And Mrs. Smith. Jolie and Pitt haven’t officially tied the knot yet but there are rumors that there will be a summer wedding. After all, Pitt recently said that he’s never been happier in his life.
Do you think Pitt slammed his marriage to Jennifer Aniston again?

Vinny Del Negro fired as Clippers head coach

The Los Anglees Clippers have parted ways with Vinny Del Negro after three seasons as head coach.

The handwriting was on the wall after the team’s ouster from the playoffs by the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of this year’s NBA playoffs. The Clippers won a record 56 games and finished first in the Pacific Division for the first time, but the early post-season elimination did not enhance Del Negro’s job security.

The NBA is a players’ league, and Del Negro reportedly was not popular with the players, including superstar guard and free-agent-to-be Chris Paul. “There had been some belief that owner Donald Sterling — who has been fond of Del Negro — would decide to keep the coach, but ultimately the Clippers needed to do everything they believed necessary to re-sign Paul in July.” Del Negro was not under contract beyond this season.

Del Negro finished his Clippers tenure with a 128-102 regular-season record, which included a 17-game winning streak in the 2012-2013 season. A team executive said that “We would like to thank Vinny for everything he did during his three years with the organization. Vinny helped this team win a Pacific Division title and we greatly appreciate all that he and his staff helped us accomplish. This was a difficult decision, but we feel this is the best decision for our franchise moving forward.”

Prior to joining the Clippers, Del Negro coached the Chicago Bulls for two years and an 82-82 record. He was let go by the Bulls in May 2010.

The former Clippers coach played college ball at North Carolina State and was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in the second round of the 1988 NBA draft. In addition to the Kings, he played for the San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, and Phoenix Suns as well as in for two teams in Italy. He averaged 9 points per game for his NBA career.

It only took Michael Strem 66 pitches to achieve a perfect game.

According to Mercury News, Strem threw a 66-pitch perfect game this weekend to lead St. Francis High School over Monta Vista during the first game of the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs in California.

It was the first perfect game in St. Francis history.

Strem told Prep 2 Prep: “It’s a pretty amazing, special day that I’ll remember for the rest of my life … I had all four pitches working today. I was getting ahead early so I was able to keep my pitch count down.”

Strem threw 66-pitches, 48 of which were strikes, and struck out eight batters during his perfect game. For anyone doing the math at home, that’s about three pitchers per batter.

Despite Strem’s 66-pitch perfect game, the St. Francis Lancers were only able to take the victory by 2 runs. Monta Vista pitcher Peter Stern was able to hold the Lancers scoreless through the first six-innings but he would end up allowing three hits and two runs before the game was over.

Strem, who has committed to Boston College next year, added: “It definitely helped that the game was close because I couldn’t lose focus at all … And this being a CCS game, we knew that tomorrow wasn’t guaranteed so we had to step up as a team. The important thing was to get the win.”

St. Francis improved to 26-4 as they advance in the Central Coast Section Division I playoffs.

star trek

Star Trek Into Darkness has received some pretty good reviews since its debut but there is one scene that stands out from the rest: The Alice Eve lingerie scene.

Why? Well, it doesn’t really fit into the movie. It just appears out of nowhere. The audience is bouncing around the universe and then all of a sudden Carol, played by Alice Eve, decides to strip down into her lingerie.

Damon Lindelof, the co-writer of the film admitted in an interview with MTV that there was really no reason for Eve to appear in her underwear.

Lindelof said: “Why is Alice Eve in her underwear, gratuitously and unnecessarily, without any real effort made as to why in God’s name she would undress in that circumstance? Well, there’s a very good answer for that. But I’m not telling you what it is. Because… uh… MYSTERY?”

Lindelof talked more about the scene on Twitter and apologized to fans for the gratuitous scene.

The writer said: “I copped to the fact that we should have done a better job of not being gratuitous in our representation of a barely clothed actress.”

The writer caught some criticism for shamelessly adding a lingerie scene into the Star Trek movie and Lindelof apologized for the misogynistic scene. There’s nothing he can do about it now but the writer promised to be more careful in the future.

Lindelof said: “What I’m saying is I hear you, I take responsibility and will be more mindful in the future.”

Here’s the trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness and again, for some reason, Alice Eve appears in lingerie.
