Have you been wondering about that guy who sold a $23,000 ring for $10 while his wife was in the hospital recovering from giving birth? As The Inquisitr previously reported, Eric Cloutier made the blunder of all time when he was selling a small watch box at a community garage sale in Laguna Niguel, California.

His 31-year-old wife Racquel Cloutier put her $23,000 wedding ring in a watch box so that it would be safely out of the way while she was giving birth to the couple’s fourth child.

“Whenever you’re pregnant your fingers start to swell so I thought it’d be a good idea to take it off,” Racquel told a California news station.

But Eric found the box, thought it was junk, and sold it at the garage sale. Ouch.

When Racquel came home and found the box gone, the couple realized that he’d sold a $23,000 ring for $10. And Eric Cloutier was definitely in the doghouse. Apparently, he even tried to tell his wife to let it go, so it’s lucky that we don’t have to report on a husband shooting here.

On a funny note, Eric may have even exaggerated how much he got for the empty box. The woman who bought it, Alyssa Lossau, said that she haggled him down to $5.

Double ouch.

But Eric Cloutier probably doesn’t care that his garage sales skills have been called into question. He’s probably just relieved that Lossau’s husband Andrew happened to find the lost ring while they were searching for Alyssa’s car keys.

Andrew and Alyssa Lossau had seen the media reports about the lost wedding ring. So when they discovered it, they quickly hunted up the Cloutiers and arranged to return it the very next day.

Racquel Cloutier said: “By the grace of God [the ring] ended up with the most honest people.”

A video has recently been uploaded to LiveLeak, though it’s also available on YouTube, that shows a man running up a hill of molten lava.

The unusual thing is, although the man is performing a pretty impressive feat, it’s a relatively simple video – there’s no additional music or commentary that you can expect to find on similar clips, it’s just two guys essentially messing about, albeit in a more dangerous sense.

The video begins with a shot of the incredibly hot lava running down the hill, which then pans out to show one of the two men running up the hill, treading where he’s just filmed.

The whole scene is then slowed down to show each ‘brave’ step that this unknown individual takes up the potentially deadly substance; one things for sure, the whole thing brings a new meaning to the term ‘hot footing’.

After a few more slow-mo clips, the man then walks back down the molten lava, clearly quite pleased with himself, and proceeds to poke a hole in the harden substance nearby to prove just how hot it actually is.

As if right on cue, stream shoots out of the mound to impress us all.

There isn’t much about the post other than the two men seen in the vid, who, by the looks of things, clearly want to test how close they can get to something that hot and not get burnt.

However, maybe there’s more logic behind the man’s actions than we first thought – he might have, for example, read about the Earth-sized planet that’s been discovered that’s apparently so hot its surface could be made up of molten lava.

If that is the reason behind this stunt, this guy is just taking the right steps to prepare should that ever happen to Earth.

The thing is, if the guy in the video wanted to feel the heat of molten lava, he could have simply tried Instant Regret peanut butter and been done with.

To give a sense of how much commentary this short video has generated, here’s some of the comments from a persistent poster known as SpIderZ:

“I wanna see the next guy do it in flip-flops while carrying a Japanese girl in a bikini.”

Not to mention the priceless comment (by the same user), that is clearly referring to Takeshi’s Castle, that pretty much sums up how everyone reacts when they see a video similar to this:

“…lol – these Japanese game shows are getting out of hand…”

Needless to say, molten lava has never looked so cool.

Loch Ness monster facts and evidence are hard to sift through. But it’s not old Nessie that makes this difficult.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the Loch Ness Monster, or Nessie, became the center of a controversy when George Edwards, the owner of Loch Ness Cruises, sent a letter to the 70-plus members of the Drumnadrochit Chamber of Commerce, ripping them for referring to Nessie as a myth:

“I believe they are doing more harm than good in promoting Loch Ness tourism with their negative theories. How many people come here to see the Loch Ness Big Fish or the Loch Ness Big Wave?”

So what are the facts and evidence about the Loch Ness Monster? Nessie is a Scottish name meaning “pure,” which is kind of ironic considering how the Loch Ness Monster story got started. In 1933, a couple said they spotted a monster and a London surgeon named Kenneth Wilson published the famous photo of the Loch Ness Monster, but then it was admitted as a hoax decades later, likely a toy submarine with a serpent’s head. Various other hoaxes and pranks have led to the continuing popularity of the Loch Ness Monster.

But Loch Ness Monster stories started much earlier. The first Loch Ness monster sighting occurred in 565 AD by St Columba as he took a swim in Loch Ness, which apparently never freezes. There have been more than 1,000 recorded sightings of Nessie, but so far no scientific evidence of the Nessiteras rhombopteryx. If the Loch Ness Monster ever really existed it probably was a pliosaur, which apparently suffers from arthritis. The closest scientists have ever come is the discovery of the jaws and skeleton of the Siberian Loch Ness Monster called Nesski.

In 2003, a team of researchers sponsored by BBC undertook the largest and most comprehensive search of Loch Ness ever conducted. They scoured Loch Ness using 600 separate sonar beams and satellite navigation. One of the lead searchers, Ian Florence, said the Loch Ness Monster was nowhere to be found:

“We went from shoreline to shoreline, top to bottom on this one, we have covered everything in this loch, and we saw no signs of any large animal living in the loch.”

Loch Ness Monster defenders claim the creature might be able to move on land and shift between bodies of water. And in 2012 one man claimed he had a Loch Ness Monster sonar photo, but the results were inconclusive according to critics.

Meet Project Loon, Google’s newly announced plan to use large balloons to bring wireless internet access across the globe.

The ambitious plan comes in the latest of Google’s on-going foray into bringing low cost or free internet access to those who might otherwise lack it. However, it is the first major attempt at creating a nearly unified network to the whole world.

Some eyebrows, though, have been raised as Google declares balloons to be at the core of their plans.

Strange as it may sound, there’s an “it’s so crazy it might just work” factor here; “Loon” as the project’s name was a good choice.

In the announcement video included below Google explains the basics of the idea: Put powerful wifi transmitters in weather balloon-like devices that will float in the sky, blanketing the world with free internet.

Google hopes Project Loon will make access to education, medical resources, and emergency communication a realistic possibility for everyone on the globe, closing internet gaps and bringing it to some places for the first time.

Google estimates that nearly two thirds of the world lacks access to fast, reliable internet.

The project’s first test begins this June, where thirty balloons will be launched from New Zealand’s South Island and travel along the 40^th Parallel to circle the globe.

The balloons will use ISM bands and provide speeds similar to 3G in an area of about 40 km per balloon. Google’s design is intended to make the balloons hardier and longer lasting than normal weather balloons. Solar panels will power the unit’s transmitters.

Project Loon may seem like a mad plan, but Google is confident this could be a revolutionary way of distributing information access across the globe.

Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife Brooke Mueller has reportedly checked herself out of Betty Ford.

The Anger Management star’s former wife decided to seek help for drug addiction at the rehabilitation facility not too long ago. However, Mueller recently decided to leave the center to find another place that could help address her problem.

Insiders told TMZ that Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife chose to find another facility that could help her get sober and back into the swing of things. Although the Betty Ford Center is good for “detoxing,” Brooke Mueller didn’t think they could assist her with the eventual return to society.

Sheen’s ex is now headed to a rehabilitation facility somewhere in Orange County. However, the exact place hasn’t been revealed to the public as of this writing.

Another batch of sources also told TMZ that Mueller is interested in getting custody of her twins when she completes her stay in rehab. However, officials at the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services are attempting to prevent Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife from getting custody of her kids. They are currently under the care of Denise Richards.

According to Entertainmentwise, Brooke Mueller isn’t the only famous Betty Ford patient who decided to leave the facility for another location. Lindsay Lohan also checked out of the center earlier this week. The troubled actress is now reportedly seeking treatment at the Cliffside Clinic in Malibu.

Lohan’s handlers, along with the judge and prosecutor, felt Betty Ford was only good for the first 30 days of her 90-day court-ordered stint in rehab. She will finish up her treatment at Cliffside Clinic instead. The Canyons star will be back on the street in a couple of months.

In other Charlie Sheen news, the former Two and a Half Men star recently got into a war of words with Teen Mom 2 alum Farrah Abraham. Although she’d hoped to land a role on Anger Management or possibly date the actor, Sheen doesn’t seem too interested.

“Please send my number to middle earth and if allowed, eagerly follow it into said abyss and slam the door behind you,” he said in a recent communication to the porn star.

Tennis fans have been treated to a pretty impressive trick shot from French tennis player, Gael Monfils, at the quarterfinal of Germany’s Gerry Weber Open.

Even though Monfils was given a pretty easy shot thanks to his opponent, Tommy Haas, the French tennis star had to go one better and let the ball bounce between his legs, did a full 360 spin and then hit the ball back into play.

Those moves are definitely good, and noteworthy, but it still doesn’t quite beat the cheerleader who managed such an amazing trick shot that it put the team she was cheering for to shame.

In any case, it would seem that there’s nothing quite like showing off during a sports match, though in this event Monfils didn’t get the point, or even manage to win.

However, he can be happy in the fact that his smooth moves have earned him a viral video of his unnatural flexibility and skill.

Gael Monfils will go down in history with other video clips of impressive trick shots, like the four in a row trick shot vid on The Inquisitr.

The YouTube users that shared Monfils amazing moment are DSDispatch; although not a lot is on their page, in fact it’s practically bare, it seems that they like to keep tabs on all sporting events that involve unusual moments.

Due to this love of sport, their page has nearly 200 followers and nearly 600,000 video views, which doesn’t seem too bad considering how little information they give you – maybe it’s a case of let the videos do the talking?

Gael Monfils video has over 216,813 and shows no signs of stopping, not to mention the hundreds of comments that have continued to be posted on the page; although not all the comments are nice (it is the Internet, so what do you expect?), the majority of posters are in awe of Gael Monfils.

Kraft’s recent “Let’s Get Zesty” ad campaign has sparked quite a bit of controversy online.

The advertisement in question finds a naked man stretched out on a picnic blanket. Although his naughty parts are covered in the image, quite a few people believe the company has gone a little too far with the picture. Social media has been buzzing since its debut.

As news of the Zesty Italian Dressing ad made the rounds, it soon caught the attention of One Million Moms. Since the organization feels the advertisement in question is a little too revealing, the group is urging people to send letters to craft in hopes of getting the whole campaign discontinued.

“A full two-page ad features a naked man lying on a picnic blanket with only a small portion of the blanket barely covering his genitals. It is easy to see what the ad is really selling,” One Million Moms said in a statement.

According to The Huffington Post, the folks at the organization aren’t the only ones who have been vocal about the Zesty Italian Dressing ad. The company’s official Facebook page has been hammered with comments from folks who want to see the ads vanish without a trace.

“Oh my gosh! The ‘Zesty’ ad campaign is so lame! I will now purposefully not buy Kraft products and look on store shelves for alternative products. Most mom’s will not respond to this type of advertising. It is a turn off and just plain gross if you are happily married!” one user wrote.

A number of people both for and against the campaign also took their case to Twitter. You can find a handful of their responses to the ad below.

Lindsey Vonn didn’t know what she was getting into when she started dating Tiger Woods.

Vonn said that it has been a little bit of a shock living under the media microscope with her new boyfriend. Vonn likened dating Tiger Woods to “living in a fishbowl” and said that it’s hard for her to be herself with all of the cameras around.

Vonn said: “I can be normal by myself; no one notices me. But wherever he’s around, we’re living in a fishbowl. I didn’t quite know what I was getting myself into. It’s weird. But it’s just something I have to deal with. He has his job, and I have mine. I just have to get used to it.”

Vonn is currently at the Merion Golf Club watching Tiger compete at the U.S. Open. The Olympic skier said that she likes watching Tiger play but that she tries not to give him too much advice on his swing.

Vonn said: “I don’t give him a lot of feedback about his golf game. We talk golf after his golf rounds, but mostly I listen. We really are normal in that way. Lots of people go home and talk to their wife or husband about their job. That’s what we do.”

Tiger may be one of the most famous athletes in the world but Vonn is quite accomplished in her own right. She has a pair of Olympic medals, a handful of World Championship medals, and is currently training for the Olympics next year in Sochi, Russia.

Vonn said: “Some people seem to forget that I’m not just Tiger’s girlfriend … I’m actually a successful athlete. I’m Lindsey. I have my own career and my own life.”

What do Sarah Murnaghan and Obamacare have to do with each other?

If some political commentators are correct, the Sarah Murnaghan lung transplant saga might be a preview of Obamacare.

The Sarah Murnaghan lung transplant fight began with a 10-year-old girl with end stage cystic fibrosis. Sarah Murnaghan desperately needed a lung transplant in order to survive, but the government health laws stated that Sarah Murnaghan was one year too young to be on the waiting list for an adult lung, which was enforced by Kathleen Sebelius.

The Sarah Murnaghan and Obamacare comparison comes in because Kathleen Sebelius is being compared to the hypothetical Obamacare death panels. This idea comes from the belief that government-determined decisions on health care under Obamacare may determine who gets to live and who dies. Government officials of the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), which is designed to contain Medicare costs, are dismissive of claims of Obamacare death panels, but fears still remain of rationed health care and treatment denials.

Kathleen Sebelius made the Sarah Murnaghan, Obamacare connection when she pronounced death on Sarah Murnaghan by saying, “Some people live. Some people die.” Congress member Elijah Cummings said something similar, saying, “In life, there is death, and in death there is life. Death is a part of life.”

Represenative Lou Barletta (R-PA) told Kathleen Sebelius, “Time is running out, please suspend the rules until we look at this policy, which we all believe is flawed.” Sibelius responded,  “Forty people in your home state are waiting for a lung.” Fortunately, Sarah Murnaghan won in court and judge Michael Baylson suspended existing organ allocation rules to give Sarah Murnaghan a chance at life.

Critics of comparing the case of Sarah Murnaghan to Obamacare claim Kathleen Sebelius was correct in her decision because “adult lungs don’t fit well in children’s bodies, and that makes it hard to transplant them.” The IPAB is reportedly prohibited by law from making “any recommendation to ration health care … or otherwise restrict benefits.” They’re not supposed to make recommendations on individual cases, only on broad cutbacks and policy changes. Even if it does happen, Congress can overrule them.

E3 2013 has been a storm of gaming news even before it started, with Xbox One presumably handing the victory over to the PlayStation 4, as previously reported in The Inquisitr. However, if you’re still up in the air about which next generation console you plan on buying in spite of all of the confirmed DRM and online rumors and price announcements, perhaps the list of launch titles for each console will help make up your mind.

As you likely know by now, history has proven that the games sell the console in the long run. If it wasn’t for Metal Gear Solid, would PlayStation 3 fans have been so loyal to Sony’s console? If it wasn’t for Prototype, would the Xbox 360 have had such a loyal gamer base? It’s time to look at the launch titles; the games you will be able to pop in that plucky machine of yours the instant you get it home and tear through the packing material like Wolverine.

Sarah Murnaghan’s mother Janet Murnaghan said yesterday that the family will retreat from its public position while the 10-year-old lung transplant patient recovers from her surgery.

As I previously reported for The Inquisitr, the 10-year-old cystic fibrosis patient was thrust into the spotlight when her family discovered that Sarah was at or near the bottom of the list of potential patients to receive a modified pair of adult lungs.

A 12-year-old girl in the same medical situation would have been at the very top of the list, based on her need.

As Janet Murnaghan explained in a recent post on her Facebook page:

“If you are over 12 it does NOT matter how long you have waited on the transplant list. What matters is your LAS score. This is a measure of the severity of your illness. So if you have been on the list one hour but you are the sickest you get the lungs if they are a match and in your region.

If you are under 12 it is the amount of time you have waited that matters. So if you are dying and have been on the list one hour you will NOT get the lungs.”

Sarah Murnaghan has been living at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with her family since February and recently entered the intensive care unit.

After her family challenged the rules that blocked Sarah from getting lungs even though she was in desperate need, Federal Judge Michael Baylson ordered Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius to stop enforcing the rule.

As a result, Sarah was called on Wednesday and underwent hours of surgery to receive a new pair of lungs.

The fight for Sarah’s life was very public. But now the family is calling for some  peace. In a statement Friday, Janet Murnaghan said:

“As you all know Sarah was very, very sick going into transplant, therefore the road out is hard and long. We are focusing all of our attention on Sarah and as a result are silent. If there are any BIG positive updates I will give them for sure.”

As a result of the Murnaghan family’s example, the organ transplant network has created an appeals process for around 30 other children who are also waiting for lungs. Judge Baylson  placed 11-year-old Javíer Acosta on the list in the same ruling that helped Sarah.  He will be treated after her because he is not as desperately ill.

The Acosta family has already lost one child to cystic fibrosis.

Other children under age 12 may also benefit. In an ABC interview on Saturday 10-year-old Jordan Peterson, who also has cystic fibrosis, said he was happy for Sarah:

“[S]he was on a ventilator and she was dying, so I was definitely really happy for her.” And when she came through the surgery OK, he was even more excited, telling reporters that he too is ready for new lungs “even right now.”

Others may debate the various ethical, medical, and legal issues surrounding the case. But for many people it’s time to focus on the healing for Sarah Murnaghan and other young patients.

Iran has officially elected Hassan Rouhani as the new president, to replace Mahmoud Ahmadinejad following recent voting poll results.

In a few weeks Rouhani will be sworn in as Iran’s president, after claiming more than half of the total vote, reports say. This was a major landslide as the closest rival garnered only 16 percent of the vote.

The poll tallying was broadcast on state television, as polls closed late Friday evening. Final results were declared early Saturday morning.

Following the heavy criticism following the legitimacy of 2009′s elections, these changes were made to avoid repeat controversy.

Rouhani has been portrayed as a moderate, with several candidates holding more extreme political views.

The president-elect is known to avoid taking strong stances on issues and instead favoring the middle ground.

Western observers debate how Rouhani’s successful election will affect Iran’s foreign policies and political relations. Though a moderate cleric, Hassan Rouhani has a strong history of military service.

Having been a part of three war and defense councils, served as presidential security adviser, and held position as the commander of Iranian air defenses, as well as acting as the nation’s chief nuclear negotiator, Rouhani’s record is nothing short of impressive.

Iran’s new president has also expressed distaste for Ahmadinejad, often seen as a hardliner. Rouhani supported the Green Movement, a series of protests that came after Ahmadinejad’s re-election in 2009:

“These were protests that were natural and popular. They should have been addressed.”

Rouhani is also suspected of having a less than friendly relationship with Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who holds the position as Iran’s supreme leader.

Hassan Rouhani can be described as an intellectual, holding three law degrees including a doctorate. He also serves as editor for three academic publications in science and foreign policies in which he regularly publishes essays.

President-elect Rouhani could potentially be the force that changes the course of Iran’s relations with the US and the UN, important especially now, as diplomacy beings to strain for Iran as Western nations are stepping up involvement in the Syrian crisis.

The Daily Mail reports that Kardashian, who is expecting her first baby with Kanye West, is reportedly at Cedars-Sinai in Beverly Hills.

The rumor hasn’t been confirmed but Radar Online notes that Kanye West did cancel a listening party today for his new album Yeezuz.

West was supposed to show up at a listening party at Milk Studios in Los Angeles on Friday night but he was a no show. Many people are speculating that West, who never misses a chance to be praised, skipped out on the party because Kardashian had gone into labor.

If Radar Online’s report is accurate it would contradict an earlier rumor which claimed that Kanye West was refusing to accompany Kim to the hospital.

Kim’s family also seems aloof to her impending delivery. The Kardashian family is extremely active on Twitter but they haven’t mentioned anything about Kim going into labor. Kendal Jenner tweeted a “lazy night” photo and Kourtney Kardashian posted a “jungle hike” photo. Neither post mentioned that they were about to become aunts.

Kim Kardashian, who tweets at an alarming rate, hasn’t posted anything in 18 hours.

Here’s an overview of how Diablo 3 will play on the consoles.

It was recently announced that Diablo 3 will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4, much to many action role-playing gamers’ delight. The chance to play the game without requiring an internet connection has many fans already drooling in anticipation. No need for an always-online connection also means no lag, something PC gamers have suffered from since the dawn of time (or at least the dawn of high-speed internet) when other gamers were using slower connections.

Of course one thing possibly holding console versions of Diablo 3 back from superiority over the PC version is that games like this are limited to the buttons available on the controller. PC has always enjoyed the full QWERTY keyboard for control over its games, and you can’t put that many buttons on a hand-held controller without it turning awkward. Thankfully, Blizzard thought that through ahead of time.

Every button of the controller is mapped to an attack or skill, and easily replaced using a radial interface if so desired. Battle is a breeze, as nobody playing the demo had any problems beating monsters down. The addition of a dive-roll makes evasion a snap, so you’re no longer a sitting duck holding in the direction of a baddie.

Inventory control has been made easier by the elimination of a large amount of junk loot. There isn’t as much non-magic, and therefore useless, armor and weapons being dropped from fallen enemies, so you’re not spending half of your post battle time trashing everything you didn’t intend to pick up.

If you’re planning on playing co-op Diablo 3 with a second player in the room, the full-screen inventory UI will put a damper on things, as only one player can have it open at any given time. The console inventory controls have been redesigned, since the controller makes the drag-and-drop style that PC gamers enjoy impossible.

All in all, Diablo 3 has been retooled for the use of any console controller, making the gameplay on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PS4 a breeze.

Lori Loughlin and John Stamos were married for years on the show Full House but their off-screen relationship never got off the ground.

Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse on the show, recently referred to Loughlin, who played Becky Katsopolis, as “the one who got away.”

Stamos was on Huff Post Live on Friday when he started talking about his relationship with Loughlin. The actor said that he is still good friends with his co-star but he also expressed a little regret that they were never in a serious relationship.

The actor said that they did go on a couple of dates when they were 18 or 19 but that the timing never worked for a serious relationship.

Stamos said: “We went on a date to Disneyland before we were both married. In real life, when we were 18, 19. We did have some off timing, but no disrespect to her family and her husband now, I would say that she could be the one that got away.”

Stamos said that he is still friends with Loughlin. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like anything will ever happen between Uncle Jess and Becky Kastopolis again since Louglin is happily married to Mossimo Giannulli.

Stamos said: “She’s one of my dearest friends and that’s good enough. But I really do adore her.”

The governmental and charitable provision of welfare or public aid is meant to offer a minimal level of well-being and social support for citizens, either on a short-term or long-term basis.

Welfare is commonly given to individuals who are unemployed, afflicted with an illness or disability, the elderly, those with dependent children, and veterans. A person’s eligibility for welfare may be constrained based on condition and need.

Ideally, the end-goal is to wean those temporarily dependent on the assistance – essentially the unemployed. However, many find the benefits they receive out way the one’s earned from minimum wage work.

Additionally claims made by researchers, who tracked Florida recipients over several years, found that death rates were marginally higher among those offered job training and pushed to find employment compared to those receiving unrestricted benefits.

Evidently, pressuring welfare recipients to get a job or face losing their benefits may put them at a slightly increased risk of dying over the long term.

In 1996, the federal Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act limited the amount of time people could receive welfare benefits, as a way to encourage people to rejoin the workforce. Imposed time limits and job training led more individuals to get jobs.

For the study, Dr. Peter Muennig – from Columbia University in New York – and his colleagues used data from Escambia County, Florida, between 1994 and 1999. The trial reviewed randomized 3,224 people who either receive traditional, unrestricted welfare, or short-term benefits.

Of the 1,611 people who were pressured to get jobs, 75 of them (4.7 percent) died by 2011, compared to 67 deaths (4.2 percent) among the 1,613 people who received traditional welfare.

Researchers also found significantly more people in the time-limited group got jobs, but still fell short of making enough to equal welfare and food stamps benefits received by the unrestricted group.

Contrary to the aforementioned findings, it is an individual’s responsibility not to place a prolonged burden on others when they are perfectly capable of working – the obvious economic situation aside – as there are several people who abuse aid and manipulate the system. This action limits available funds meant to go to those who desperately need it.
