Morrissey has launched a scathing verbal attack on the Duchess of Cambridge because of her love of foie gras.

However the indie and rock icon did congratulate her father-in-law first, as Prince Charles has banned foei gras, which is the fatty liver of a force-fed duck, from official menus.

Morrissey then turned his attention to Kate Middleton, stating, “Unsurprisingly, this most savage and cruel commodity continues to be the favourite ‘dish’ of smiling mother-to-be Kate Muddleton (sic) (from whom, in fact, we expect no less).”

The former lead singer of The Smiths then asked his fans to protest Fortnum & Mason, who are the only department store in London to still sell the product.

He stated, “Foie gras production is illegal in the UK, yet the ever-so-correct Fortnum & Mason have found suppliers in France who will keep their shelves stocked – possibly with the hope that smiling Kate will wobble in and place an order for her unborn child.”

Morrissey then concluded, “Since Fortnum & Mason are now the only department store in London who are associated with the pitiless atrocity of foie gras, would you please write to them/contact them and exert pressure on them to stop selling such a savage beyond belief ‘product’.”

The rock star has previously criticised Kate Middleton for her part in the death of a nurse, Jacintha Saldanha, last December when she was in hospital.

Morrissey stated, “The Duchess of Cambridge was in the hospital, as far as I could see, for absolutely no reason. She feels no shame about the death of this woman, she’s saying nothing about the death of this poor woman. The arrogance of the British royals is absolutely staggering.” These comments came in the same week as Morrissey celebrated his 54th birthday.

Radamel Falcao is set to transfer to Monaco on Monday afternoon for $77million, according to reports in Spain.

Falcao has been linked with transfers to some of the biggest clubs in world football, with Real Madrid, AC Milan, Chelsea, and Manchester United having apparently eyed up the player.

Jean Petit, Monaco’s assistant manager, told Radio RCN on Friday about Falcao’s impending arrival, “Yes, we are expecting Falcao and four or five other players of his quality. We have spoken and we continue to speak with Falcao and his representatives. Negotiations are ongoing. We hope to seal a deal as soon as possible.

He then added, “Monaco need a player like Falcao because he can help us a lot and because he can attract other top players, and that’s the best way of confirming our project is big and interesting. Signing Falcao is a big coup on sporting and media levels for French football.”

Monaco are able to make such a lavish purchase because their new billionaire president, Dmitry Rybolovlev, has huge ambitions for the club. Earlier this week Monaco spent $88 million on Porto’s Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez as they look to rival Paris Saint Germain for dominance in the French league.

It is though that Falcao is on his way to the Mediterranean principality for a physical, that if he passes will see him complete his move. Monaco were only recently promoted from France’s second division but Rybolovlev’s money looks set to move the club forward in the very near future.

Falcao recently inspired Atletico Madrid to victory in the Copa Del Rey final against their bitter rivals Real Madrid, after which he stated, “It’s an unbelievable feeling. Now we have to enjoy it. This win feels awesome. We’re happy with the effort we put in and that we can celebrate this win like the people wanted.”

Radamel Falcao Moves Closer To $77Million Move To Monaco is a post from: The Inquisitr

A double murder and a two-year-old being raped were discovered by an Anchorage couple at their apartment Saturday night. The husband and wife were with their four-year-old son and returning from the movies, according to The Huffington Post.

When they arrived, they found the door of their apartment locked from the inside. Breaking a window, they gained entry and proceeded to a bedroom where they discovered the bodies of Touch Chea, age 71, and his 73-year-old wife Sorn Sreap.

Along with the bodies, there was a naked man with the young couple’s toddler. Despite efforts at detainment, the man escaped. Police later identified 24-year-old Jerry Andrew Active as a suspect. Active was arrested and charged later that night.

Police said that the young couple’s 90-year-old great-grandmother was also home, but unharmed, during the attack.

The toddler was Chea and Sreap’s great-granddaughter, according to The Washington Post. Their bodies were discovered by their granddaughter and her family. Details of how the victims were killed were not immediately available in the HuffPo report, but Anchorage police sergeant Slawomir Markiewicz confirmed that both toddler and Sreap were sexually assaulted.

The Post later revealed Chea and Sreap had been beaten to death. The later report also stated that the child was only two years old.

Active has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, sexual assault, and burglary. Markiewicz added that there was no evidence of a connection between the victims and Active before Saturday night’s assault. “It doesn’t appear that he knew them … It looks like a totally random act,” he said.

Unfortunately, while crimes like this are truly unsettling, they’re not as rare as you might think. In April, The Inquisitr reported about an Ohio man seeking clemency after raping a six-month-old baby girl to death.

In September 2012, a Michigan man orally raped and asphyxiated his 15-week-old baby girl.

Double Murder, Two-Year-Old Raped In Home Invasion is a post from: The Inquisitr

A Texas shooting spree claimed the lives of two people, including the gunman, after a heavily armed man in Concho County began randomly firing from his pickup truck.

Police said the suspect was found in the truck with a cache of weapons that included and assault rifle, a handgun, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. The man killed a woman in her car and wounded several others — including the sheriff of the count — before police killed him in a shootout, authorities said.

The Texas shooting spree suspect is believed to be a 23-year-old from North Carolina, though police haven’t released his name until his relatives can be notified.

Police said several other incidents near the fatal shooting are connected to the suspect. The Texas Rangers, local law enforcement and Texas Parks and Wildlife had investigated another shooting that took place in the early morning hours on Sunday.

Police said a suspect began shooting at a car, wounding a woman. Police believe the suspect then wounded two more people sitting in a car outside a convenience store. Afterward he returned to where the first shooting took place and fired on another vehicle. A third person was hurt in that incident, though all people wounded were treated and released.

At close to 6 am on Sunday, police found 41-year-old Alicia Torres shot to death in her car in Eola. Within 15 minutes Concho County Sheriff Richard Doane caught up to the suspect on a highway, and was wounded in a gunfight.

The Texas shooting spree ended with a Highway Patrol trooper and game warden arrived on the scene, fatally shooting the suspect.

The creator and writer behind HBO’s Girls has been reacting to the news that her show now has its very own porn parody, entitled This Ain’t Girls XXX.

However, rather than being flattered by the imitation, Dunham is actually slightly grossed out by the news.

On May 23 she took to Twitter to state, “I wish I had a better attitude about the Girls porn parody. I really can never predict what will trouble me and it’s simply exhausting.”

Dunham then returned to Twitter a few hours later to articulate her fears more coherently, stating through a series of messages, “[I've] wracked my brain to articulate why I can’t just laugh off a porn parody of Girls. Here are three reasons: 1. Because Girls is, at its core, a feminist action while Hustler is a company that markets and monetizes a male’s idea of female sexuality.”

She then went on to add, “2. Because a big reason I engage in (simulated) onscreen sex is to counteract a skewed idea of that act created by the proliferation of porn 3. Because it grosses me out.”

Richie Calhoun, who stars in the adaptation takin the role of Adam Sackler, has also been discussing the project. He told XBiz that their work captures “the voice and tone” of the original show.

He then went on to add that because Girls features plenty of nudity and adult scenes, “they didn’t have to do much” more than extend the sex scenes and make them more provocative.”

Calhoun then concluded, “It will be interesting to see what people will say about it, because with something like that, people would expect a really bold or nuanced statement. Maybe it will be like that or maybe people will say, ‘This is an outrage. This is terrible!’ I’m not really sure.”

Bradley Cooper has revealed that Jennifer Lawrence thinks he is a bad kisser.

Cooper is currently touring the globe promoting the third instalment to The Hangover trilogy, and when he was a guest on The Graham Norton Show in the United Kingdom, he found time to make the revelation.

When talking about his kissing technique with the host, Cooper stated, “After the second take she [Lawrence] said, ‘You’re a wet kisser.’ You don’t want to hear that. It was not a compliment.”

Their smooch still managed to get a nomination at the MTV Movie Awards in the category of Best Kiss, so it can’t have been all bad.

Will Smith and his son, Jaden, also appeared on the show to talk about their new movie, After Earth. Smith discussed working alongside his son stating, “I said to Jaden, ‘Here’s the deal. I’m going to give you most of the action and I’m going to give you most of the cool stuff, but I’m going to take most of the money!’ It feels fair to me. I came up with 95% for me and 5% for Jaden, configured on the amount of times he said ‘Yeah’ when I asked him to do something.”

Smith couldn’t help but plant another kiss on his son in front of the adoring crowd, who lapped up his affection.

Cooper and Lawrence are set to star alongside each other again in the upcoming adaptation of Ron Rash’s novel, Serena.

The duo star as two newlyweds, Serena and George Pemberton, and it is set in North Carolina during the depression era. It follows the pair’s struggles to conceive a child whilst George’s timber empire starts to fail too.

Rhys Ifans, Toby Jones, and Sean Harris will star alongside Cooper and Lawrence, with Susanne Bier directing.

The earthquake that struck Northern California on Thursday night is a curiosity to seismologists, because of its location and strength.

The tremors registered at 5.7 on the Richter scale and also caused several dozen aftershocks. Its epicenter was located in a rugged area of the state that has not been studied for seismic activity like the Bay Area and Southern California.

Because of this, the region has less monitoring equipment. Experts were surprised that the quake was felt over such a large area. It struck at 8:47 pm local time about 150 miles northeast of California’s capital, Sacramento.

It is also the first strong earthquake to hit California since 2008. Those tremors were in Chino Hills in July 2008 and had a magnitude of 5.5.

Thursday’s earthquake did happen in a zone known for seismic activity, according to David Schwartz, an earthquake geologist for the Northern California USGS division. The area includes a series of faults that extend from north Lake Tahoe to Oregon. However, 5.7 is the strongest quake ever recorded in the region.

More than 7,000 people felt Thursday’s quake from California, Oregon, and Nevada. Officials in Susanville and Sacramento reported the quake triggering several home and car alarms. It also rattled windows. Thankfully, there was no major damage. Schwartz explained that it wasn’t the quake itself that was surprising. Rather, it was the fact that it “was felt along an unusual distance.” He added:

“Earthquakes in different parts of the state are felt over different distances. We just haven’t had that many examples of earthquakes in this part of the state, really, for comparison.”

While more than four dozen aftershocks seems like a high amount, Schwartz added that they appeared to be “fairly standard.” A USGS probability report released on Friday also shows that there is a 20 percent change an earthquake larger than a magnitude 5 will happen along the same fault line in the next week. There is also a five to 10 percent change a quake larger than 5.7 could hit during that time period.

There were no reports of injuries from the earthquake in Northern California.

Former Senate Majority leader and presidential candidate, Bob Dole, has stated that he doesn’t think Richard Nixon or Ronald Reagan would have thrived in the current Republican party.

Dole explained that the party is too attack-orientated and conservative, stating, “They ought to put a sign on the National Committee doors that says ‘closed for repairs,’ until New Year’s Day next year and spend that time going over ideas and positive agendas.”

Dole told FOX News Sunday, “Reagan couldn’t have made it. Certainly, Nixon couldn’t have made it, because he had ideas. We might’ve made it, but I doubt it.”

Dole went on to criticise President Obama too for not working with Congress to solve the country’s problems, stating, “I’m not a critic of the President, but I think one mistake he has made was not getting together more with Congress early on in his first administration. I think as a president, he lacks communication skills with his own party, let alone the Republican Party. And he’s on the road too much.”

Dole isn’t the first Republican to state that previous icons of the political party wouldn’t have prospered in the current climate. Jeb Bush has stated that his father, George Bush Snr., wouldn’t have been able to blossom in the party too.

Jeb Bush stated, “Ronald Reagan would have – based on his record of finding some degree of common ground, as would my dad – they would have a hard time if you define the Republican Party … as having an orthodoxy that doesn’t allow for disagreement, doesn’t allow for finding some common ground.”

Dole also offered advice on how the part could prospere in the future, stating, “We will not win elections by simply pointing out the failures of the other side. We must boldly paint the picture of … how incredibly bright America’s future can be.”

Bob Dole Doesn’t Think That Ronald Reagan Would Have Made It In Today’s Republican Party is a post from: The Inquisitr

The massive earthquake that hit Russia on Friday could be the deepest ever recorded. The quake registered at 8.2 on the Richter scale and was located near Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula.

The earthquake was located 378 miles below the seafloor, according to initial data. However, the initial depth could change after scientists have a chance to review more data.

The previous record for the deepest earthquake ever recorded was in Bolivia in 1994. The record-holding tremors registered at 8.2 on the Richter scale and were 293 miles deep into the Earth.

So, why was Friday’s Russian earthquake so deep? The incredible quake can be explained by the unique subduction zone under the Sea of Okhotsk, where the tremors occurred. The sea sits on top of the region where the Pacific Plate is continually diving under the North America Plate.

The rate, eight centimeters per year, doesn’t seem like much to us. But to the massive, normally slow-moving tectonic plates, it is actually quite quick. Because of this, portions of the oldest Pacific crust are still cold when they reach the Earth’s scorching hot mantle. Like a cold rock hitting a hot bonfire, the rocks can explode, resulting in extremely deep earthquakes.

And the deeper the earthquake is, the farther it tends to be felt. Which is why the shaking, which lasted for about five minutes, was felt as far as Moscow, an incredible 4,000 miles away. The waves also crossed the United States, though they likely weren’t felt by humans.

Russia also felt several smaller quakes before Friday’s massive tremors. However, the precursors were much more shallow. In the coming days, scientists hope to research more about the earthquakes to see if the shallow swarm and the much deeper large quake are related in any way.

The Okhotsk quake, along with the Bolivian quake in 1994, continue to reshape geologists’ ideas about how earthquakes can happen so deep into the Earth’s crust.

Michele Bachmann has inspired a racy romantic novel, which will be released on June 1.

Fires of Siberia has been written by Trey Sager, who is also releasing his memori Oedipus Breast later in the year too, and revolves around the character of Presidential candidate Danielle Powers.

The plot revolves around the Republican candidate who crashes in Siberia during a trip to improve her foreign policy credentials. She then must make her way back to civilisation and along the way she is helped by Steadman Bass, a good samaritan with a heart of gold.

Sager said of the book, “The romance novel is kind of a unique genre because it’s viewed by many as a feminist genre. So it’s also possible that it’s kind of an empowering genre, and I actually really do believe that. So it’s explicitly not pornographic. It’s more along the lines of D.H. Lawrence, which has a major place in American literature.”

Sager admitted that he has respect for Bachmann though, stating, “I really admire her, and I think she’s both unique and enigmatic. … I had seen her a number of times and had been fascinated by her, this cultural figure, and I began to see how intently everybody seemed to feel about her.”

He then added, “One way or another, people were really psyched about her or were making T-shirts, calling her bats — crazy. And it kind of startled me at first. … I do feel that one of the reasons that she drives people crazy is because she’s a woman in power and I think that it’s a phenomenon in our culture that makes people react strongly.”

Sager then concluded, “Couple that with her attractiveness and sex appeal, and I thought, ‘OK, well maybe a romance novel is a good place to look into some of these cultural feelings.’”

Fires of Siberia is set to be released as an e-book on June 1 through the New York based publisher, Bandlands Unlimited.

The company’s founder, Paul Chan, has discussed this new fad of electronic reading, stating, “Historical distinctions between books, files, and artworks are dissolving rapidly. We publish and produce new works by artists and writers that embody the spirit of this emerging dissolution. We make books in an expanded field.”

Michele Bachmann Inspired A Racy Romance Novel is a post from: The Inquisitr

A Wal-Mart customer’s wife who bought a cake to celebrate her class passing their exams was surprised to see that one of their employee’s spelling deficiencies had ruined their dessert.

An image of this cake has now gone viral online. The caption to the above image reads, “Last year, my wife’s class passed all year end testing with high scores so she bought them a cake from Walmart. It was supposed to read, ‘Congratulations You did it!’ (OC).”

Unfortunately, it read instead, “Congration, you done it.” The image was uploaded by the Reddit user, crossedx, and has so far amassed over 1000 comments with people adding their thoughts on the cake.

Wolfharte remarked, “Aside from the grammar and spelling, the lines are crooked and its generally just ugly. Why are you shopping at Walmart?”

Diels_Alder also commented, “Your first mistake was not going to Costco. Your second mistake was making excuses for not going to Costco such as ‘there’s not a Costco within 50 miles of here’.”

However, some users tried to defend Walmart, with BrownsFanJCU noting, “My mom is literally a cake decorator at Walmart. Not a job she dreamed of, but a job nonetheless. She takes pride in her cakes and does an incredible job. So everyone generalizing about Walmart can suck it. Way to go for the easy joke.”

Whilst users then added their own cake misspelling tales, with niennaz adding, “For my Graduation we asked for my cake to say ‘con’grad’ulations. After saying replace the ‘t’ for a ‘d’ five times to the woman, we had to write it out because she still didn’t understand. This was at Dairy Queen.”

Wal-Mart Make Huge Spelling Goof On Cake is a post from: The Inquisitr

Tony Kanaan won Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 at Indy Motor Speedway. The victory was emotional for Kanaan, who has attempted to win the race no less than 12 times.

But after running the final lap under caution, Kanaan flipped up his visor to wipe away tears as the crowd gave him a roar of approval. In victory lane, he kissed his wife and poured the celebratory winner’s milk over his head.

Tony Kanaan’s Indy 500 victory was huge for the race’s former hard-luck loser. Now, he can call himself champion of the track that caused him more than a decade of problems.

The IndyCar driver commented, “I have to say, the last lap was the strongest lap of my life.” And despite seeing someone other than themselves in victory lane, the losers were pleased with the race’s outcome.

The evidence came in a scene much like that when Dale Earnhardt finally won the Daytona 500 on his 20th try. Dario Franchitti, who crashed to bring out the final caution, stood next to his crumpled car and gave Kanaan the thumbs up as the new champ rode by under caution.

Franchitti, last year’s winner, explained, “When I saw who was leading, it cheered me up a little bit. He’s a very, very deserving winner.” The fans agreed. They stood on their feet and chanted, “TK! TK! TK!” as Tony Kanaan and team owner Jimmy Vasser went by during their victory lap.

The Indianapolis 500 win was magical to Kanaan, who has wished for the victory for years. He added:

“It means a lot to me because so many people, I could feel that they wanted me to win, and it’s such a selfish thing to do because what are they getting from it? I’m the one who gets the trophy. I believed that this win was more for people out there than for me.”

Tony Kanaan Scores Indianapolis 500 Win is a post from: The Inquisitr

Kevin Harvick came out the winner of Sunday evening’s Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The race was filled with cautions and three red flags.

Harvick bested Kasey Kahne, the race’s dominant driver, in a 10-lap shootout. But despite coming out on top after NASCAR’s longest race, the victory was overshadowed by the crazy events that unfolded during the race.

The first happened when 10 fans were injured after a nylon rope from a Fox Sports cable fell over the grandstands. The incident red-flagged the race. Three of the fans injured were transported to the hospital.

CMS spokesman Scott Cooper announced that the three fans were treated at the hospital, then released. Because of privacy laws, Cooper did not explain their injuries. Seven other fans stayed at the track and were treated for minor cuts and scrapes.

The first red flag lasted for almost 30 minutes as workers worked to remove pieces of the rope from the track. They also allowed teams to repair damage from the incident for 15 minutes in their pit stalls. The move was incredibly rare, as NASCAR usually doesn’t let crews touch their cars under a red flag.

Later, as crews fought with their setups and night fell on Charlotte, Kahne’s car was clearly the winner. But a debris caution was called with 14 laps to go. Kahne gambled and stayed out, while almost everyone else pitted. On the restart, Kahne took his preferred high line, while Harvick took the lower.

Harvick won the restart, leaving Kahne to battle Kurt Busch for second place. Harvick, who also won the race in 2011, commented about the victory:

“Charlotte is something we had to overcome for a long time. We had to win it on gas mileage before. We just went out and won it this time. You know, we had a good strategy call. The No. 5 stayed out. We had fresher tires and were able to beat him on the restart.”

While Kevin Harvick celebrated his Coca-Cola 600 win, Kasey Kahne congratulated his team on a job well done. After all, second place after the series’ longest race isn’t bad at all.

Kevin Harvick Wins Coca-Cola 600 In Charlotte is a post from: The Inquisitr

Two rockets struck Beirut’s southern suburbs on Sunday, increasing concerns that the Syrian conflict is spreading beyond the country’s borders.

The rocket attack inside Lebanon’s borders came after the head of the Lebanese Shi’ite movement, Hezbollah, claimed it would keep fighting on the Syrian government’s side until the regime wins the war.

The attack was the first that reportedly targeted Hezbollah’s stronghold near Lebanon’s capital since the conflict began more than two years ago. Syria’s war has also heightened sectarian tensions in Lebanon.

Lebanese politics have long been divided into pro- and anti-Assad groups. However, Hezbollah’s involvement in Syria in the last week has escalated tensions. Clashes took place in the northern city of Tripoli, Lebanon and claimed at least 30 lives.

Hezbollah’s involvement has served to spread fear that the Syrian conflict could become a larger conflict between Sunni and Shi’ite Muslims.

Sunday’s rockets hit Beirut’s largely Shi’ite district of Chiyah, which lies right next to Dahieh, Hezbollah’s home base. The first rocket struck a car sales yard, injuring four Syrians. The second rocket hit an apartment building nearby. It smashed into the living room and left the home covered in rubble and broken glass.

The rocket attack in Beirut came after Syria’s government stated it would attend international peace talks “in principle” that are being organized by the United States and Russia.

The talks are tentatively set for June in Geneva. The regime has said it believes the talks could end the bloody civil war, though Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem added, “No power on earth can decide on the future of Syria. Only the Syrian people have the right to do so.”

The United States has been urging for Assad’s opponents to unite together before the conference. However, the Islamist-dominated coalition has been held back by power struggles during ongoing talks in Istanbul.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for Sunday’s rocket attack near Beirut.

Rockets Hit Beiruit Suburbs After Hezbollah Vows Victory In Syria is a post from: The Inquisitr

Adrian Peterson made comments on gay marriage Thursday that has football fans questioning the 2012 NFL MVP. When speaking to Amani Toomer and Bruce Murray on SiriusXM Radio, Peterson wasn’t afraid to make it known how he feels about same-sex marriage.

The 28-year-old is such a talent on the field that whenever he touches that ball the crowd is waiting to see something special, but off the field Peterson has come to develop a knack for making critical comments. Just a couple years back, Peterson compared the NFL to “modern-day slavery,” and he’s now jumping into the topic of marriage equality.

“To each his own. I’m not with it,” Peterson said about same-sex marriage on SiriusXM Radio. “But I have relatives that, you know, are gay. I’m not biased towards them. I still treat them the same. I love them. But again, I’m not with that. That’s not something that I believe in. But to each his own.”

He also believes the Minnesota Vikings decision to release Chris Kluwe, a punter who’s an avid supporter and activist for same-sex marriage, had nothing to do with his beliefs.

“I’m sure the Vikings’ organization did not release him based on that,” Peterson added in the interview. “They know Kluwe. They’ve been knowing him for a long time. They know he’s outspoken.”

Chris Kluwe is now a member of the Oakland Raiders as he signed with the team not too long after being released by the Vikings. Kluwe hasn’t commented on Peterson’s remarks from Saturday, but the outspoken punter is sure to chime in at some point.

Adrian Peterson and gay marriage obviously don’t mix based on his comments, but the star running back still considers Kluwe to be a good friend.

“It hurt me to see him leave. He was a good friend of mine and a really cool guy, man,” Peterson went on to say in the interview. “Probably one of the smartest guys I’ve ever been around, man. … Different.”

Now you can take the “different” comment any way you like, but it doesn’t seem to be a reference to Kluwe’s commitment to equality and gay rights. Nevertheless, Peterson’s remarks on same-sex marriage have made waves across the web and have many people questioning the five-time Pro Bowler.

Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul has married Lauren Parsekian, the co-founder of Kind Campaign to combat girl-on-girl bullying.

The 33-year-old actor proposed to the 24-year-old activist on New Year’s Eve in Paris. Paul has been quoted in GQ and People as calling Parsekian “the greatest woman that has ever existed. No offense to other women on this planet, but she is hands down the best.”

According to Us, the couple was married under the trees on a ranch in Malibu, California. Despite the outdoorsy setting, Aaron Paul and his groomsmen wore black tuxes. Parsekian wore a strapless gown with matching white boots.

Us said that a source told them that Paul and Parsekian had a 1920s Parisian carnival masquerade themed wedding. I don’t know what that is either, but apparently guests had to wear a masquerade mask or a domino to the reception — which was held in front of a giant Ferris wheel and an area that included other carnival games.

In a nod to their wildly romantic Paris engagement, which Paul told People involved dancing on the street to Edith Piaf, the groom’s cake was decorated to resemble the steps on that Paris street.

The Los Angeles Angels beat the Kansas City Royals 5-2 Sunday night to extend their winning streak to eight games. Josh Hamilton and company rallied late in the game to erase an early 2-0 Royals’ lead.

Jerome Williams got the start for the Angels, and the 31-year-old was impressive once again. He settled in after giving up a run in the second off a triple from David Lough and he kept the Angels close until his exit after the sixth inning.

Williams gave up another run in the fifth, as George Kottares crossed the plate after the pitcher’s throwing error. Things started getting rocky in the sixth, as the Royals’ Billy Butler was ejected from the game while arguing balls and strikes from the inning before.

The Angels locked in while the Royals lost their momentum, and Josh Hamilton started it all with a solo home run to start the seventh. J.B. Shuck would then drive in Howie Kendrick with a single after Royals’ starter Wade Davis was relieved by Bruce Chen.

Erick Aybar drove in another run in the very next at-bat to give the Angels their first lead of the day. Chen’s night was over before it really started, and Luke Hochevar came in to get the Royals out of the inning.

He did just that, but the Angels added two more insurance runs in the eighth. The rest was history as the Angels’ bullpen held the Royals’ scoreless through the final two innings for the ball club’s eighth straight win. Ernesto Friero shut down the Royals in the ninth for his 10th save of the early season, and the Angels are now gaining momentum as they look to climb back into contention in the AL West.

Jerome Williams now sports a 4-1 record on the season, which has been huge for Mike Scioscia’s struggling rotation. The right-hander was excited to see his teammates break out late in the game, but he also recognized Wade Davis’ great outing for the Royals.

“‘He was throwing a pretty good game and then when Josh hit that homer everything started turning around,” Williams said after the game. ”We already know our bats are there. Everybody is getting hot, not just Josh. That’s what we need. We need Josh to get back.”

Uh oh. A wreck with Danica Patrick, boyfriend Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and a third driver is just one of the awkward incidents at Sunday night’s whackadoo Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte, NC. But the third driver, Brad Keselowski, has already stepped forward to take the blame.

Although Keselowski has accused Patrick of being an uncompetitive driver in the past, the Sprint Cup Champion admitted to Sporting News that he was the one who messed up this time:

“I just cut Danica off. I didn’t know she was still down there and I caused a big wreck. I cut her off and wrecked her and myself. I feel bad for her and I send my apologies to her.”

Despite the gentlemanly attempt to keep Stenhouse out of the Patrick doghouse, several observers felt that Stenhouse could shoulder at least some of the blame for the wreck. Several media reports said that the accident was caused when Stenhouse drifted up to clip Patrick’s car, which is what pushed her somewhat up the track.

As a result, she clipped Keselowski — and all three of them ultimately ended up in the collision which destroyed Keselowski’s car.

Patrick and Stenhouse were able to go on, but Patrick hit the wall again later to finish 29th. According to USA Today, she was furious and stomped off without any comment to their reporter.

But ESPN said that “the tone in Patrick’s voice over the radio and replay indicated Stenhouse played a role.”

Unlucky Stenhouse ended up getting entangled in a second wreck later. He ended up 14th.

Kevin Harvick survived the unplanned demolition derby to take his second Coca-Cola 600 win in only three years.

Joe Flacco’s agent believes the Ravens made a dumb move by failing to re-sign their star quarterback before last season. Joe Linta, who’s been by Flacco’s side since 2008, wasn’t shy when talking about the Ravens’ decision to wait on re-signing his client.

“I’ve never in my life seen a dumber move. I guess people can say, ‘Well, Joe was dumb, too.’ It could have been (dumb), God forbid, if he got hurt,” Linta told USA Today Sports. ”But $1 million to (owner) Steve Bisciotti six years from now? That’s like 100 bucks for you or me today.”

His critical comments about the Baltimore Ravens have become a hot topic throughout the league over the past few days, and it’s hard for anyone to disagree after Joe Flacco led the team to their first Super Bowl win since 2000, though he could have been more respectful.

Flacco gave Ray Lewis the perfect retirement gift, and Joe Linta has now made waves by criticizing his clients’ team for holding out on their leader behind center.

If the 28-year-old star would’ve struggled last season, this topic wouldn’t be up for discussion but that has’t stopped Flacco’s agent. “Dumb move” comments or any type of criticism towards an NFL team is usually reserved for players who’ve had a bad day on the field, but Joe Linta wasn’t afraid to throw the Ravens under the bus, so to speak, when discussing his premier client.

Linta also noted that the Ravens will more than likely be forced into restructuring Flacco’s contract once it reaches a $28.55 million cap figure in 2016.

“I’m not apologetic for the fact this is really a three-year deal, there’s no way they can afford $29 million a couple of years from now,” Linta added. “I’m not apologetic. They chose to walk away.”

Flacco signed a six-year deal, $120.6 million extension in early March to bring his focus back to the gridiron as the Ravens look to defend their title in 2014.

At least six people are dead in Chicago shootings in a wave of Memorial Weekend violence that might not be over yet. An earlier report said that 11 people were injured, but the count is now up to 16. And the final toll probably won’t be known for another day.

The multiple Chicago shootings are separate and likely unrelated. The youngest man was a 17-year-old killed Friday.

The oldest was 42-year-old Charles Jones who was shot in the head in the aftermath of an auto accident early Sunday morning. Jones, who manages a gentleman’s club, was driving his 2007 Maserati when he was sideswiped by a 2005 Buick LaCrosse.

Although descriptions of what happened next vary, at some point after he got out of the Maserati, Jones was shot dead. At least one witness said that he was unarmed and had his hands up.

A 44-year-old woman with Jones was shot in the back and seriously injured as well, although she was reportedly still alive at the time of writing.

It’s only the latest string of incidents in a brutal crime wave that has struck Chicago. Locals were particularly outraged by the March slaying of 6-month-old Jonylah Watkins. That investigation is still ongoing, but Chicago Tribune reporter Adam Sege said on Monday morning that the police have now arrested a suspect who could be charged in a matter of hours.

Sege added that the crime wave has been going on for some time. In 2012, there were over 500 people murdered in Chicago, mostly by gun violence — the first time the Second City hit that grim statistic since 2008.

A mind-boggling list of Friday and Saturday night shootings was compiled by NBC News — and, at that time, they only had information about 11 of the injured.

Some people think that it will take political change to end the violence, but not everyone agrees on what form the change should take.
