A bowler shot himself in the leg at a bowling at a bowling alley in Florida this week.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Someone finally pushed Walter over the edge during league play. But no, this was not a Dude related incident. According to WFLX, a man who was bowling with a gun in his pocket accidentally shot himself in the leg.

Witnesses said that the weapon fired after the man accidentally hit his bowling ball against his pocket. The weapon fired, scaring everyone at the Florida bowling alley, and the man fell to the ground in pain and embarrassment.

A witness said: “The ball hit him in the leg, which triggered the revolver.”

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life threatening and the bowling alley is not pressing charges. Jupiter Police Officer Adam Brown said that noted that it is legal in Florida to carry a concealed weapon and that the man wouldn’t be facing any state charges.

There isn’t a video available of the bowler shooting himself in the leg at Jupiter Lanes but here’s a clip from The Big Lebowski which demonstrates why it is not a good idea to bring a weapon to the bowling alley.

Jaden Smith makes a discovery in a new clip from After Earth.

In the latest film that has Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith teaming up, humans have left their home planet for more hospitable conditions on a planets called Nova Prime. Cypher Raige (Will Smith) has decided to take his son Kitai (Jaden Smith), against his better judgment, on a mission back to Earth. His son’s knack for mischief makes him upset with the decision, but it was at the request of his wife. Earth has been overrun by animals evolved to kill humans. They crash land along with an unstoppable alien and have to depend on one another to survive on a planet long abandoned by their own kind.

Will Smith and Jaden Smith have teamed up in films before. They played father and son in The Pursuit of Happyness, and Will Smith produced the remake of The Karate Kid which starred his son.

After Earth is a film about a father and son having to work together against the odds to make the best of a horrific situation and find a way to call for help.

The clip from After Earth begins with Cypher Raige at a terminal, talking to his son, “Tracking a life form moving toward you from the West.” Kitai looks behind him and turns around, apparently very nervous as he waits in a jungle and apparently has no idea which way is West.

Cypher continues, “It’s closing rapidly. Fifty meters.”

Kitai pulls what appears to be a weapon from its holster and keeps looking around. Jaden Smith continues to show his acting prowess without saying a word.

Cypher updates, “Forty. Thirty. Twenty.”

The scene switches back to Cypher looking at a terrain graph on a transparent monitor, “Ten. … It is right there, Kitai.”

We see Kitai looking around, worried, as the camera shows a monkey waiting on a tree trunk.

The acting IRS commissioner is out of a job.

Minutes ago, President Obama announced that Steven Miller has resigned as boss of the Internal Revenue Service given the cloud over the agency from the Tea Party targeting scandal.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew asked for Miller’s resignation which sounds like he was fired. Miller was “acting” in that he had not been confirmed by the US Senate.

Apparently Miller, a career IRS employee, had tried to pin the blame for the entire politically driven practice on two so-called rogue agents in the IRS Cincinnati office but that seemingly didn’t fly given the scope of the scandal and the misconduct involved. Miller reportedly was aware of the heavy scrutiny and application slow-down for Tea Party and other politically conservative groups in May 2012 but didn’t fully come clean with Congress: “On July 25, 2012, Miller testified before a House Ways and Means Oversight subcommittee, but he did not mention the agency’s heightened scrutiny for the applications of conservative groups. After learning of the controversial IRS practice, he also wrote at least two letters to Congress explaining the process for reviewing tax-exempt status applications; in neither of those letters did he mention the targeting.” Miller had taken over for Douglas Shulman, a Bush appointee who left office in November.

Last Friday, the IRS admitted is was subjecting Tea Party and other groups to heavy and unconstitutional scrutiny — including intrusive demands for information — when they applied for tax-exempt status as so-called social welfare organizations.  Some of these groups have been waiting up to three years for IRS approval. The IRS did not flag left-of-center groups who applied for the same 501(c)(4) non-profit status, however.

In announcing Miller’s resignation, the president said “I’ll do everything I can to make sure something like this never happens again  by holding the responsible parties accountable. By putting in place new checks and safeguards. And going forward, by making sure that the law is applied as it should be in a fair and impartial way.”

The IRS is also set to gain access to massive amounts of personal health information under Obamacare.

In a just-released report, the Treasury Department’s Inspector General maintained that ineffective IRS management allowed agents to use inappropriate criteria to screen conservative groups.

In an email to IRS staff, Miller wrote that “it is with regret that I will be departing from the IRS as my acting assignment ends in early June. This has been an incredibly difficult time for the IRS given the events of the past few days, and there is a strong and immediate need to restore public trust in the nation’s tax agency.”

The IRS is now being investigated by the FBI and Congressional committees.

Thought the Amy’s Baking Company meltdown couldn’t get any meltier? Reddit delivers.

All day long, my Facebook friends have been unable to look away from the Amy’s Baking Company meltdown on Facebook and Reddit, and it seems the controversy reached a new level as Katy Cipriano — a waitress seen and treated shabbily on the restaurant’s aborted episode of Kitchen Nightmares — did her own freaking Reddit IAmA post today.

Dear sweet Jesus, please let it be real! [Update: tweet below.] Katy Cipriano’s Reddit account isn’t verified, but the thread is massive and it seems if there was any indication a PR stunt may have been afoot … this isn’t it.

Cipriano repeatedly refers to the Amy and Samy seen on the show as basically bats*** crazy, and isn’t afraid to detail her horror time at Amy’s Baking Company.

Right off the bat, she explains why she lost her job on the show, and says:

“the only reason [Amy] had against me for firing me was my attitude when she was giving me the appetizer. which, they did not show the events leading up to that scene as to ‘why’ i asked if she was sure. so to answer, i quit in frustration.”

Katy elaborates:

“she had messed up a certain table’s appetizer dish 3 or 4 times IN A ROW. and it made me look like an idiot because i was their server and the table was getting increasingly agitated. so when she told me to deliver the appetizer yet again, i asked “are you sure?” – not meaning to sound bratty or mean or anything.”

Cipriano also alleges she did not receive tips while working at Amy’s Baking Company, adding:

“she had messed up a certain table’s appetizer dish 3 or 4 times IN A ROW. and it made me look like an idiot because i was their server and the table was getting increasingly agitated. so when she told me to deliver the appetizer yet again, i asked “are you sure?” – not meaning to sound bratty or mean or anything.”

Australian drag racer Chris Matheson walked away from a 230 MPH crash with a broken ankle, a couple of bruises, and one crazy story to tell at his next race.

Matheson was racing during at the Sydney Dragway’s 2013 Nitro Champs event. The Australian racer got his bike up to 230 mph before he lost control and spilled down the strip. Matheson and his motorcycle both do a couple of flips before skidding to a stop in front of an awestruck crowd.

The racer was able to get up and hobble off the course before being told that he had broken his ankle. Matheson won’t be able to race until the injury heals but he’s got to be pretty thankful that he’ll be able to race again.

Matheson never really has control of the bike during his run but don’t mistake the Australian racer for some inexperienced rookie. According to the Australian National Drag Race Association, Matheson recently became the quickest thing on two wheels. The racer smashed the unofficial mark to become the fastest motorcycle in Australia.

Matheson said: “The bike ran like it was on rails, carrying the wheel high in the air and blasting down the braking zone before slowing to a stop with the brakes glowing …  It was mind boggling to achieve 241mph in the dark at Australia’s most famous drag strip. I knew on that pass it was now we would run quick or it was not going to happen as the dew had started to roll in. The speed is right up with only a few worldwide.”

Nicki Minaj is reportedly leaving American Idol after one season.

“It’s safe to say she isn’t coming back to Idol,” an insider told Us magazine. “She’s OK with it. She had a great time but was only going to do one season anyway.”

The announcement comes a little less than a week after Randy Jackson, who was the only original judge left on the competition, confirmed that he was leaving Idol after 12 seasons.

“I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry,” Jackson said. “It’s been a life changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”

A recent report claimed that all four judges — Jackson, Minaj, Mariah Carey, and Keith Urban — were going to be fired from the singing competition. Producer Nigel Lythgoe was also rumored to be on the chopping block, but there was no mention of whether host Ryan Seacrest would also be on his way out.

The show has been struggling in recent seasons, with the top four performances on May 1 pulling a series low of 11.08 million viewers. Add to the that the on-going feud between Carey and Minaj, and audiences simply weren’t tuning in the way they used to.

So far, neither Carey or Urban has commented on whether they would be returning to American Idol next season. However, Carey is reportedly planning to embark on her first world concert tour since 2004. Her last tour, the Charmbracelet World Tour: An Intimate Evening with Mariah Carey, took the singer to over 20 countries and spanned eight months and 69 shows.

“Due to the smash success of ‘#Beautiful,’ fans are clamoring as Mariah makes plans for a world tour,” a source said. The single, which features R&B singer Miguel, is currently at No 22 on the Mainstream Top 40 and Rhythmic charts.

A naked painting of Bea Arthur is recently sold for nearly $2 million.

The nude painting of the late Golden Girls actress was auctioned off by Christie’s during the Post-War and Contemporary Art Sale in New York this week. The painting, by John Currin, was expected to fetch somewhere between $1.8 million and $2.5 million.

The painting ended up with a realized price of $1,915,750 (not including any additional fees).

Currin created Bea Arthur Naked back in 1991. Critic Peter Schjeldahl wrote in The New Yorker in 2003 that the painting was suspended somewhere “between the object of desire and the object of loathing,”

Christie’s Auction House writes: “Beautiful in its execution, infamous in the press, and simultaneously nostalgic and repelling with its subject matter, Bea Arthur Naked is among John Currin’s early master works … Here, the muted palette of warm earth tones, allows the viewer to focus on the sitter’s gaze, her smooth skin tone, that enigmatic smile, together with her wonderfully full and expressive eyes. We are familiar with the subject matter but not in the way in which it is handled; Currin mixes nostalgia with provocation.”

The winning bidder has not been identified.

Bea Arthur is best known for her Emmy winning roles in Golden Girls and Maude. She passed away from cancer in 2009.

Naked Bea Arthur Painting Sells For $2 Million is a post from: The Inquisitr

The NBA denied a proposal to move the Sacramento Kings to Seattle Wednesday.

Commissioner David Stern made the announcement that the league had put an end to a deal to sell the team to a group of Seattle investors. The vote to keep the team in Sacramento followed a recommendation made by the league’s relocation committee last month, ending a nearly three-year bid.

“It’s nice to see two great cities so interested in an NBA franchise, but the winner here is Sacramento,” Stern said at a news conference in Dallas.

The Maloof family, which owns a controlling interest in the Sacramento Kings, wanted to sell the team to a group led by investor Chris Hansen. Hansen was hoping to move the franchise to Seattle and rename the team the SuperSonics. The original SuperSonics were moved from Oklahoma City in 2008 after 41 years in Seattle and renamed the Thunder, which shares its predecessor’s franchise history. Seattle has not had an NBA team since it lost the Sonics.

The Oklahoma City Thunder went on to make the playoffs in four seasons in row, making it to the Western Conference Finals in 2011, and losing to the Miami Heat in the finals last year.

The proposal faced opposition from Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who played in the NBA from 1987 to 2000. Johnson launched a campaign to keep the team in the state capital of California. Johnson was backed by an ownership group led by TIBCO software chairman Vivek Ranadive, and included 24 Hour Fitness founder Mark Mastrov, former Facebook senior executive Chris Kelly, and the Jacobs family, who own Qualcomm.

Stern urged the Maloof family to reach a deal to sell the team to Johnson’s group, saying, “It is my expectation that we will be able to reach a deal with the Maloofs.”

The Maloofs reached an agreement to sell a 65 percent controlling interest in the team to Hansen’s group in January for $525 million, which topped the previous record of $450 million from Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, who purchased the Golden State Warriors in 2010.

Hansen increased his offer to $550 million, then to $625 million as he and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer made a last ditch attempt to persuade the NBA Board of Governors. That amount included $406 million for the Maloofs’ controlling interest, as well as a $115 million relocation fee that was nearly quadruple what Clay Bennet paid to move the Sonics to Oklahoma City.

Chris Hansen spent almost two years getting an arena plan approved by city and county governments. He spent more than $65 millions buying land in the SoDo neighborhood of Seattle, where the Sonics’ arena would be built.

Rapper Gucci Mane has pleaded not guilty to assaulting a soldier at an Atlanta nightclub in March.

The rapper, whose real name is Radric Davis, was indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a weapon last month after surrendering himself to police about a week and a half after the March 16 incident. Gucci Mane allegedly hit James Lettley in the head with a champagne bottle at the Harlem Nights Club after Lettley asked to take a picture with him.

An ambulance crew tended to a gash on Lettley’s head, and he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he received 10 stitches.

“That is dangerous because if there was to be any other fan trying to approach him, ain’t no telling what else he might do to them,” Lettley said. “He could have possibly killed me. I just hope and pray that I recover pretty well because I still want to serve my military career.”

Gucci Mane was also accused of hitting another fan at a club in Philadelphia shortly after the Atlanta incident.

The fan, who was identified as TJ, said he approached Gucci Mane to shake his hand when he was punched in the face. TJ said he sustained a chipped tooth and swelling on the left side of his face.

“He’s out on bond, just going about his life,” the rapper’s attorney, Drew Findling, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

This isn’t Gucci Mane’s first time getting arrested. He served a six-month sentence in 2005 and another six-month sentence in county jail in 2009 for violating his probation in relation to a 2005 assault. Gucci Mane was initially charged with murder, but the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence. In 2010, the raper was arrested for driving on the wrong side of the road, running a red light or stop sign, and other charges. Since then, he has been arrested five more times.

Tommy Chong has a pretty simple solution for getting the United States back on track: Legalize marijuana.

The Grammy Award-winning comedian said that the United States could quickly find its way out of debt if it legalized marijuana. Chong pointed to states like Colorado and Washington saying that recreational marijuana could create a big surge of cash for the federal government.

Chong said: “Look at the situation we’re in now. Sequesters. Cuts. Everything cut across the board. Now, the government is tapped into the biggest cash crop in the world … There’s little manufacturing cost. You don’t have to do anything except watch it grow and get a couple of hippies to cut it and then put it in a bag.”

Chong, who is best known for being half of the pot smoking comedy duo Cheech & Chong, is confident that marijuana will save the world.

Chong said: “Hemp itself is going to save the world.”

The comedian isn’t the only one who believes that legalizing marijuana could help the United States with its ongoing debt problems. His comedy partner, Richard “Cheech” Marin, said that he was confident that the United States would completely legalize marijuana in the next few years.

Marin said: “The tipping point is 24 states to legalize medical marijuana, so it’s coming soon.”

Philly.com notes that nearly 20 states have legalized marijuana for medical purposes and another dozen states have legislation pending. Colorado and Washington have both legalized the drug for recreational purposes.

Kirstie Alley slammed Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries for his remarks that his company doesn’t want overweight employees or customers.

The Abercrombie & Fitch controversy arose last week when a company analyst noted that Mike Jeffries seemed to discriminate against larger customers, women in particular. While the store carries extra large men’s sizes, women’s sizes only go up to large. The store does not carry any sizes above 10.

This led people to dredge up a 2006 Salon interview, where Mike Jeffries admits he doesn’t want fat people to shop at his stores, either as employees or customers.

“That’s why we hire good-looking people in our stores,” Jeffries said. “Because good-looking people attract other good-looking people, and we want to market to cool, good-looking people. We don’t market to anyone other than that.”

Jeffries added: “In every school there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids. Candidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don’t belong [in our clothes], and they can’t belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely.”

Mike Jeffries has been punished for the strategy in the past, settling a $40 million class-action lawsuit in 2004 alleging that Abercrombie & Fitch stores had a nearly all-white staff. Now Jeffries is taking a beating in the court of public opinion.

Kirstie Alley slammed Jeffries and the company for the backward approach.

“Abercrombie clothes are for people who are cool and look a certain way and are beautiful and are thin’ and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,” Alley told Entertainment Tonight. “That would make me never buy anything from Abercrombie.”

Kirstie Alley isn’t the only one who slams Mike Jeffries. A filmmaker this week created FitchTheHomeless, a project in which he distributed Abercrombie & Fitch clothes to homeless people on L.A.’s Skid Row.

Volunteers removed over ten million pounds of trash, including 2 million cigarette butts, during International Coastal Cleanup Day in 2012.

The Ocean Conservancy, which hosts the event every year, released its report this week saying that more than 500,000 volunteers worked to remove 10,149,988 pounds of trash along 17,719 coastal miles during the event last year.

In addition to nearly 2 million cigarette butts, the cleanup crew also removed more than a million food containers, another million plastic water bottles, 600,00o items of cutlery, more than 300,000 aluminum cans, 4,000 candles, 117 mattresses, and 40 lottery tickets.

The group writes: “For more than a quarter of a century, volunteers from all over the world have gather every year along coastlines and waterways to participate in the International Coastal Cleanup. Many walk, while others set out on boats. Thousands more don scuba gear to seek trash below the water’s surface. In 2012, more than half a million volunteers participated, collecting more than 10 million pounds of trash and covering a distance of nearly 18,000 miles.

“These volunteers have picked up everything imaginable along the world’s shorelines: cigarette butts, food wrappers, abandoned fishing gear and even automobiles and kitchen appliances.”

The most frequently found item was a cigarette butt. The cleanup crews removed more than 2 million cigarette butts during International Cleanup Day. If you’re looking for an exact number, the organization says that 2,117,931 discarded cigarettes were removed from the ocean.

Men struggle with a childbirth simulator in a viral video that proves what moms already knew — it is hard work pushing a baby out.

The two men in the video had questioned whether childbirth was really the most intense pain their was. Their wives insisted, but apparently they thought they could endure it.

They were wrong.

The video begins with the men walking side by side as one says that, according to women, childbirth is the worst kind of pain there is. The other man mentions that women believe men can’t handle the pain.

To find out the answer the men pay a visit to Dr. Julie Masters, who straps electrodes to their stomachs that will simulate the sensation of contractions.

“That sounds fun!” one of them says.

He quickly learned it was anything but fun. The simulation started, and the two men began writhing in pain. Their wives were good partners, coaching them through and instructing them on how to breathe, though they can’t seem to contain their entertainment.

“Stop smiling!” one of the men yelled to his wife as she gave the other woman a high-five.

At one point in the childbirth simulation video, Dr. Julie Masters asks a man how high on a numeric scale his pain has reached. He answers a “7.”

No, she says. It was only set to “4.”

“It feels like someone’s taken a saw and is just carving up my abdomens,” one of the men gasped between contractions.

The childbirth simulator lasted for an hour, and afterward the men seemed haggered. “Mom, if anything that I just experienced is anywhere close to what I did to you, all those years ago, I’m sorry,” one of the men said. “You’re like a superhero. You’re one tough mama. Happy Mother’s Day!”

In the end of the childbirth simulator video, the men may have survived, but they’ll likely never question the pains of labor again.

Screampix, the first YouTube channel for horror fans, launched on Wednesday, according to a report from The Wrap.

The website noted that the new entry in YouTube’s more than 50 paid channels will sell for $2.99 per month. At launch, there were 200 hours of horror footage, and that included full-length features, interviews, and trailers.

(Kind of sparse, we know.)

Fortunately, Screampix plans to bring in new content every week and will air films unedited. However, it was not clear if the channel plans to stay at just 200 hours of footage at a time, or if they would actually be adding content and growing larger with time.

For a bit more on the selection, we thought we’d check it out for ourselves.

Here’s what you can expect thus far in the full-length film department: a lot of Puppet Master films and the Killjoy trilogy. Other than that? Some other flicks that make the word “obscure” sound like an understatement.

Mostly direct-to-video stuff, in other words. There are no classics of the genre and definitely no first-run features.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that, we suppose, and it could very well be worth the three bucks.

This, of course, isn’t the only paid YouTube channel to launch recently. Of the 54, it’s not even the only one devoted to movies. Big Star Movies has been created to introduce fans to “truly independent cinema,” according to the promo trailer.

(Yep. Haven’t heard of any of these either.)

So far, we’re not sure this is exactly what Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos meant when he said that better options were the best deterrents to piracy, but we’ll let you decide on that. Here’s a trailer for Screampix:

The announcement that YouTube would start charging for specialty channels came earlier this month. At that time, it was speculated that the specialty channels would rid users of advertisements, and in the case of Screampix and Big Star Movies, that’s certainly the case.

Danity Kane announced earlier this week that a reunion, sans band creator Diddy, was in the works, and one of the first questions fans asked was: Will D. Woods be involved?

The answer is an emphatic “no.”

While the four other girls – Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres, Aubrey O’Day, and Dawn Richard — are reportedly under new management and are planning a tour and a new album, D. Woods (real name Wanita Woodgett) was noticeably absent from the lunch meeting at the Groove in Los Angeles Monday.

There has been plenty of speculation about why D. Woods wasn’t involved with the reunion, with one reason being that she is busy working on her solo career. D. Woods, along with O’Day, was kicked out of the group by Diddy in 2008. O’Day was later asked back, but D. Woods was removed from the group because Diddy felt she was unhappy.

The following year, Diddy announced that he wanted the girls back for Making the Band 4, but only Richard and Fimbres showed up. Bex said she was unhappy with the the discord in the group, and Richard said she heard that Bex was “happy” with her life outside the band, and Bex later confirmed that it was a “personal choice.”

D. Woods has said in the past that the group failed because it didn’t have a “sound foundation. ” In 2009, when Danity Kane officially debanded, she clearly stated that she had no intention of rejoining the group.

“It came to an end when it needed to. There was a lot of outstanding issues and obviously that was the only way it could be resolved,” D. Woods said. “But if your services are not being appreciated, you gotta take it elsewhere.”

Now D. Woods is speaking out again. She told Freddy O, “It has been brought to my attention that my former group members of Danity Kane will be reuniting and while I will not be a part of the reunion; I wish the ladies blessings and much success on their endeavors.”

D. Woods also emphasized that she was working on new music and theater and film projects. Woods will be appearing in Rebirth! The Musical, which premieres at the Fox Theater in Atlanta on May 30. The musical also includes Lynn Whitfield, former 112 member Quinnes “Q.” Parker, and Nephew Tommy from The Steve Harvey Morning Show. Rebirth! runs through June 2.

Angry Birds movie talks heated up on Wednesday when Sony announced via press release that it would be teaming up with Rovio to bring a film version of the popular video game to the big screen by July 1, 2016.

“Every studio in town would love to add Angry Birds to their slate,” said Sony boss Amy Pascal. “There are few titles out there that bring this kind of excitement, brand awareness and built-in audience to the table. We’re thrilled to be distributing this film and we hope this is just the beginning of what will be a long relationship with Rovio as we look for ways to work on future projects together.”

The game franchise has dabbled in films before with Angry Birds Star Wars and Angry Birds Rio games, but until today, it was always the movies coming to the Birds, and not the other way around.

Empire noted on Wednesday that at this time, Sony doesn’t have a voice team, a script, a director, or even a plot, but it can’t be too hard to figure, right?

Just add in some green porkies, mix with a variety of battering birdies, blend with 3D animation, and boom, you’ve got yourself a blockbuster.

Of course, there is a danger that the franchise might be played out by the time an Angry Birds movie comes along, but we doubt it. The series is so ingrained in popular culture at this point with plush toys, “real-world” games, and constantly updated variations featuring hundreds of hours of gameplay.

As long as it doesn’t turn out like this, it should be fine:

Actually, on second thought, that would be absolutely awesome.

Anyhow, if you just can’t wait until 2016, the little bombers have an animated series already, so make sure you check it out.

Evan Mathis, NFL player, pees on IRS building: yes, you read that correctly. Not only did the Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman relieve himself on Internal Revenue Service property, but he also posted a pic of it on Instagram.

The little sprinkle happened Wednesday on the same day that NBC News reported interim commissioner of the IRS Steven Miller would be forced to resign amid incompetence and misconduct in unfairly targeting conservative groups with greater financial scrutiny.

The IRS scandal has been a black eye for President Barack Obama’s second term, and it did little to bridge the gap between parties in an increasingly partisan Washington.

With that said, Evan Mathis did what millions of Americans — Democrats, Republicans, and now, especially, Tea Party members — have longed to do.

Along with the bold, brave, and somewhat immature imagery, Mathis posted a simple two-word caption: “Audit this.” Classy. And funny.

Philly.com reported that DCFanaticsBlog speculated an apology would be on the way tweeting, “Evan Mathis will be apologizing later today. Count on that,” to which Mathis responded, “How high are we counting?”

(Looks like the IRS may have to wait a little longer if they plan on a mea culpa any time soon.)

You’ve got to hand it to Mathis on this. He’s taking a bold step in the very public, permanent online world, by lashing out against the government body with the most potential to make one’s life a living hell.

“NFL player pees on building” isn’t a headline you can forget very easily, and it’s likely the NFL will respond with one of its famous fines as a result of the crude gesture. There’s also the possibility that the IRS could next shift unfair scrutiny to wise-guy offensive linemen now that conservative groups are off the table.

Either way, Mr. Evan Mathis — NFL player, who pees on IRS property — we salute you for having the guts to do it. What do you think — too disrespectful or perfectly understandable?

After cell phone video of David Sal Silva allegedly being beaten to death by police officers went missing, the Kern County sheriff has asked the FBI for help.

Witnesses said police officers beat Silva to death with batons last week in an incident that several of them captured on cellphone video. Police in Bakersfield, California, had been called for a report of an intoxicated man, and found the 33-year-old father of for reportedly passed out.

Witnesses claim that officers struck David Sal Silva on the head with batons several times as he lay on the pavement.

Police later showed up to the home of two of the witnesses who had taken video. The couple said officers ordered the couple to turn over their cell phones, but the pair refused. Officers remained in their home while waiting for a search warrant, and the male witness finally relented and gave up his phone when he had to leave for work.

Though two videos were seized, Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood said only one video was recovered. He then asked the FBI to analyze the cell phones to see if the videos could be recovered.

“I took the unprecedented step of asking the FBI to conduct a parallel investigation,” Youngblood told The Los Angeles Times. “Our credibility is at stake here.”

Youngblood added that the officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave.

The David Sal Silva killing has put a spotlight on Bakersfield and the actions of the officers. The official police account said Silva fought with officers, leading officers to deploy a canine and use batons to subdue him. Silva later stopped breathing and was taken to a hospital, where he died.

But witnesses tell a different story, saying David Sal Silva died “begging for his life” as he struggled with as many as nine police officers.

“When I got outside I saw two officers beating a man with batons and they were hitting his head so every time they would swing, I could hear the blows to his head,” said Ruben Ceballos, a neighbor who was awakened by the sound of screaming.

A 911 call released by KERO television backed up Ceballos.

After David Garrard quits the New York Jets, the team’s once-muddled quarterback picture suddenly becomes more clear.

That’s good news for Mark Sanchez.

The embattled quarterback looked all but assured to be losing his starting job at the end of the 2012 season. Sanchez was plagued by sloppy, inconsistent play all year and by the end of the season had been supplanted in his starting job by unproven rookie Greg McElroy.

Though McElroy failed to impress and could not hold onto the starting job — and Tim Tebow remained glued to the sidelines — it became clear that Sanchez’s days were numbered. When the team brought in Garrard in the offseason, it led many to conclude that the team would cut or trade Sanchez.

But now that David Garrard quits the Jets, the team will likely have no choice but to hang onto Sanchez at least through this season.

Garrard said a nagging knee injury is forcing him to quit the Jets.

Garrard wrote in a text message to NFL.com’s Adam Schein: “Having to call it quits … My knee is not holding up. Continuing to swell after practices.”

The 35-year-old quarterback was expecting to compete for the Jets starting job.

“I was healthy all the way into training camp last year and for some reason my knee swelled up,” Garrard said just two weeks ago. “So I’m healthy now, and I’m going to be going after it. I’m not here collecting paychecks. That’s not what I’m about.”

The loss of Garrard means the Jets have only Sanchez, McElroy, rookie Geno Smith, and Matt Simms competing to be signal caller next season. Sanchez may have struggled this year, but did once lead the team to two consecutive AFC championship games. The other three have one NFL start combined.

Experts believe Sanchez will likely remain on as the Jets starter this season as the team prepares second-round draft pick Geno Smith for a starting role one day.

Though David Garrard quits the Jets, he would not say if he is retiring from the NFL.

The manhunt for a child porn suspect has ended a little more than a day after federal authorities released pictures of the man believed to have raped a young girl on video.

Pictures of the child porn suspect were released Tuesday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations. On Wednesday a call from the public on ICE’s tip line led police to arrest John Doe.

“The criminal complaint and arrest warrant for John Doe was signed Friday in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia,” ICE noted in a press release sent Wednesday night. “At that time, HSI had no information about the identity of John Doe, but he was believed to be located somewhere in the United States. The victim he recorded being sexually abused is believed to be 7 to 9 years old.”

Federal investigators had released images of the man this week, hoping that someone from the public can step forward with information that leads to his identification.

The child porn videos, four in total, were originally found by Danish National Police. They shared the information with officials in the United States, where an agent determined from a bag of Rold Gold pretzels seen in one of the videos that the man and the girl must be in the United States. Time stamps on the video show they were recorded sometime in mid- to late-April.

US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials originally said the girl could still be in jeopardy, and released the sanitized images of the stocky, balding suspect in order to hasten the process.

“We’ve had a couple of instances where we’ve tracked child predators down when we’ve asked for the public’s assistance,” said Carissa Cutrelle, a spokeswoman for ICE.

The man in the video was seen in a room filled with music paraphernalia including guitars, speakers, and a keyboard.

Federal authorities said they are withholding further information about the identity of the child porn suspect until his initial appearance in federal court.
