The LG curved OLED TV revolution is upon us! The electronics manufacturer showed off its new EA9800 TV at CES 2013 and now it will begin selling the televisions in the second half of 2013.

LG has not yet provided an exact release date for its new curve OLED TV displays.

Speaking about his company’s upcoming release LG Home Electronics Product Communication team manager Hung W.K told Trustred Reviews:

“I can’t give you an exact time, but I think we will see the first curved TV devices on the market soon … Consumers will be most strongly immersed with this curve.” Vice president of Home Entertainment Thomas Lee advised that the “curved TVs are coming in the second half of this year,” and that curved TVs are “another major trend.”

LG designed the curved OLED TV displays so the display can be equidistant from the viewer’s eyes when viewed from a head-on angle.

According to an LG blog post, the curved display allows for less visual distortion.

The new display also takes advantage of a fourth white sub-pixel that adds to the RGB setup for a minimal bezel, 3D, and Smart TV functionality.

LG and other device manufacturers are continuing to release new technologies in an attempt to stay ahead of consumers. The tech industry has reached the point where consumers expect new and bold design features and functionality from their new pieces of technology.

Pricing has not been revealed at this time.

Doug Collins is resigning as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, but he isn’t going far.

Collins announced Thursday that he won’t be on the bench anymore for the Sixers but is staying on as an adviser to the franchise. He had one year left on his four-year contract.

Collins is leaving after the Sixers failed to live up the expectations created when the team traded for center Andrew Bynum last year. Bynum was unable to play at all this year with knee ailments, and instead of contending with the Brooklyn Nets and New York Knicks for the Atlantic Division, the Sixers fell to 34-48 and missed the playoffs.

Doug Collins said he resigned from his coaching position for family reasons.

”There are a lot of things I want to enjoy,” he said.

There were reports that Collins wasn’t up for the long rebuilding process ahead of the team, but he said he’s proud of what he accomplished.

”I don’t have to drop my head. I didn’t fail,” Collins said. ”A lot of it was out of our control and sometimes you have to realize that. We’ve got a lot of good young pieces and we probably played our best basketball the last six weeks of the season, which was important to me.”

Doug Collins led the team to a high point last season, when as the eighth seed in the playoffs the Sixers upset the Chicago Bulls and took the Boston Celtics to Game 7 in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

”He loves the 76ers, he loves the city. He’s not planning on coaching anywhere else,” said Philadelphia owner Josh Harris. ”I tried to convince Doug to stay. We wanted Doug to come back. Why wouldn’t you want a great coach to come back? At the same time I recognize his desire as a man.”

News that Doug Collins was resigning had actually broke earlier in the week, but his agent denied the resignation reports and said Collins would be with the team for “at least one more season.” The agent didn’t specify if it would be as coach, however.

Michael Jordan’s flu game is one of the most dramatic performances in NBA history. And, well, the legend is about to grow a little larger. According to his former trainer, MJ was poisoned before he took the court in the 1997 NBA Finals.

Yep, Tim Grover says that Michael Jordan was poisoned and didn’t actually have the flu.

But before we get to Grover’s version of the story let’s take a look at the facts.

Michael Jordan was visibly ill when the Chicago Bulls played the Utah Jazz during game 5 of the NBA finals. Despite the fact that he could barely stand under his own power, Jordan dropped 37 points to give the Bulls a 3-2 series lead.

At the time, it was reported that Jordan was suffering from “flu like conditions.” But Grover, his personal trainer, said that Jordan wasn’t suffering from the flu. He was suffering from food poisoning.

Grover told ESPN that Jordan was at his hotel in Park City, Utah when he got hungry. The hotel wasn’t delivering room service anymore so they decided to order out for pizza. Grover said that all of Utah knew where the Bulls were staying and that Jordan may have received a poorly cooked, or poisoned pizza, on purpose.

Grover said: “Yes, 100 percent poisoned. Everyone called it a ‘Flu Game,’ but we sat there and we were in the room, we were in Park City, Utah, up in a hotel. Room service stopped at like 9 o’clock. And he got hungry, and we really couldn’t find any other place to eat so we ordered. I said, ‘Hey, the only thing I could find is a pizza place.’ He said, ‘All right, order pizza.’ We had been there for a while, so everybody knows what hotel. I mean Park City (didn’t have) many hotels back then. Everybody kind of knew where we were staying. So we order a pizza, they come to deliver it, five guys come to deliver this pizza. And I’m just … I take the pizza, and I tell them, I said, ‘I got a bad feeling about this.’ I said, ‘I just got a bad feeling about this.’”

Of course, that doesn’t mean that Jordan was purposefully poisoned. It’s a little suspicious that five guys delivered the pizza but they probably just wanted a chance to meet MJ. And really, if you were sabotaging the greatest basketball player to ever live would you really send five guys to do it?

Video footage of Cat Cora before her DUI charge has been released online.

The star of the cooking competition Iron Chef was busted in July of last year for driving under the influence of alcohol. The video was taken by the man she rear-ended during the accident.

Cat Cora was charged with DUI after she hit a car at stop light in Sana Barbara last year. The driver believed the chef might be intoxicated, so he decided to film the entire exchange. Although Cora appears even-tempered, it’s clear she’s not happy about the situation.

The chef appears a little upset with the man whose car she struck during the accident. At one point during the conversation, Cat Cora observed that she was being filmed by “two nerds” who “don’t want to do something exciting with their lives.”

When a woman off-camera asks if Cora has insurance, she responds with: “Just because I bumped your car?”

While the Iron Chef star stated that she only consumed three beers on the day the accident took place, she later blew a .19 on the breathalyzer. This is roughly double the limit allowed by law.

The chef said in a prepared statement:

“I deeply regret my decision to drive that evening after my designated driver became unavailable. I learned a very important lesson from this experience and take full accountability for my actions.”

News of Cat Cora’s DUI made the rounds last summer after her mugshot went viral. She was taken to a “sobering center” following her arrest.

Cat Cora is probably best known for her appearances on the television series Iron Chef America. Cora also worked on the Bravo show Around the World in 80 Plates.

Dick Van Dyke had to cancel an appearance at a YMCA ceremony in New York City. He was supposed to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for “Bettering Humanity through Comedy” next week, but cancelled because of a “yet-to-be diagnosed neurological disorder.”

Van Dyke took to Twitter to crowdsource a diagnosis. He tweeted, “My head bangs every time I lay down. I’ve had every test come back that I’m perfectly healthy. Anybody got any ideas?”

Several fans replied with suggestions about what might be wrong and multiple Twitter followers advised the actor to consult a neurologist.

“It has been going on for 7 years. I’ve had every test you can think of (CAT Scan, MRI, Spinal tap etc),” Van Dyke replied in response to questions. “Any advice?”

David Riley asked, “Is it like your heartbeat / pulse throbbing in your head?” Dick replied with an emphatic, “YES!!” He also told his followers he has very low blood pressure.

A few followers suggested that Dick make an appointment with a chiropractor, and he tweeted, “I don’t believe in them.”

Later Van Dyke tweeted to thank everyone for the advice.

A representative for Van Dyke told Entertainment Tonight that he was canceling commitments requiring air travel due to medical advice.

Last month Marc Maron interviewed Dick Van Dyke on the popular podcast, WTF. Dick sounded completely on top of his game. He talked about growing up in Danville, Illinois, and how he got into show business while serving in the military:

“It was kind of fate,” Van Dyke said. “I had been on the track team. I went for my sophomore year to get the doctor’s thing. He said, ‘you have a heart murmur  I don’t want you doing track anymore.’”

A couple years later, the draft board didn’t find any evidence of a heart murmur. Dick joined the Air Force, but by then the war was winding down. They put him in entertainment where he did a radio show and performed for the USO.

That was 69 years ago. Dick Van Dyke has been in show business ever sense. He is 87-year-old and recently married his 40-year-old girlfriend.

Giovanni Ribisi will be replacing Tommy Dewey as one of the lead characters in Fox’s multi-camera comedy series Dads.

Dewey was set to play Warner, a video game entrepreneur in his 30s whose life is turned upside down when his father unexpectedly moves in with him. However, after an “imperfect” taping of the show’s first episode late last week, it was decided that the role needed to be tweaked and recast.

Ribisi was most likely chosen for the role because of his pre-existing relationship with series creator Seth MacFarlane and his writers and executive producers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. Ribisi co-starred in the team’s blockbuster film Ted, and he has also been cast in an upcoming Western comedy co-written by the trio and directed by MacFarlane.

Dewey was the first actor cast in Dads, and was joined by Martin Mull, who will play Warner’s father, Crawford, and Seth Green, who will play Eli, the other son whose father moves in with him. Dewey’s recasting is the second so far — Vanessa Lachey replaced Erin Pineda as Warner’s wife after the table read.

Giovanni Ribisi has largely been focusing on films lately, and Dads will mark his first major series commitment since his recurring role as Ralph Mariano on My Name is Earl from 2005 to 2008. He also did some voice acting in a recent episode of Family Guy, which was also created and executive produced by MacFarlane.

However, the 38-year-old began his acting career on network TV, appearing in The New Leave It to Beaver, Married With Children, and The Wonder Years. He also put in a prominent performance in The X-Files episode “D.P.O.”, and played Frank Jr., the brother of Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow) on Friends.

A study, published in the International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, contradicts what we’ve been told for years about the no-no’s of drinking while pregnant.

UK researchers claim, based on their immediate findings,  imbibing a unit of alcohol – a “unit” being the equivalent of 10 milliliters or .34 ounces of pure alcohol – is acceptable a couple of times per week, and should not pose an adverse threat to the health of a growing fetus.

This per unit measure permits no more than half a single standard glass of wine (175ml), not exceeding an alcohol-by-volume (ABV) of 12 percent.

The study analyzed both mothers who were considered light drinkers during their pregnancies and those who abstained entirely.

Groups were composed of sample mothers who never drank (12.7 percent), who did drink, but not during pregnancy (57 percent), light drinkers (23.1 percent), and those who drank during their pregnancy (7.2 percent).

University College London researchers tracked 10,534 seven-year-old children through interviews and parent/teacher questionnaires – used to identify social and emotional behavior.

Cognitive skills, performance in math, reading, and spatial understanding were also tested.

The study collated data from the Millennium Cohort Study, a national study of infants born in the UK between 2000-2002, to assess whether light drinking (up to two units of alcohol per week) during pregnancy was linked to unfavorable developmental outcomes.

The data reflected surprising results, noting children born under light drinkers displayed both favorable behavioral and cognitive scores. However, once statistical adjustments were calculated, the significant differences between the two groups were ultimately nominal. Still, their health and mental abilities were not notably impaired.

Researchers did reinforce the immaturity of the work-in-progress study, admitting effects could be seen later in life and did not endorse the use of alcohol whilst pregnant – simply studying the presence of alcohol-related ramifications on development, if any in light drinkers.

Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is a condition of mental and physical defects that can develop in a fetus in association with high levels of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. Alcohol surpasses the placental barrier and can stunt fetal growth and weight, harm neurons and permanently damage the central nervous system, malformation of brain – resulting in both psychological and behavioral problems.

Prenatal exposure to alcohol has been shown to cause an array of cognitive and functional disabilities. Alcohol exposure presents a risk of fetal brain damage at any point during a pregnancy, since brain development is ongoing throughout pregnancy and is consider one of the leading causes of developmental brain damage.

Study Suggests Light Drinking During Pregnancy Not Linked To Development Problems is a post from: The Inquisitr

A California wife allegedly cut off her husband’s penis and then chucked it into the garbage disposal where the vital organ was mangled beyond repair.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, science studies claim castrated men live longer. A Dutch Catholic Church even used castration as a “cure” for homosexuality.

But none of that is likely to help 50-year-old Catherine Kieu, who is going to trial for allegedly cutting off her husband’s penis back on July 11, 2011. Orange County Deputy District Attorney John Christl said Kieu was angry because her husband was dating a former girlfriend. When the alleged crime took place, both had filed for divorce while they continued to live together in the husband’s Garden Grove home.

Prosecutors are claiming Catherine Kieu drugged her husband with sleeping pills in his food, tied him to a bed, severed his penis with a 10-inch kitchen knife, and tossed the penis into a garbage disposal. Prosecutors played audio in court from a voice-activated recorder. In this recording, Kieu is allegedly heard yelling “you deserve it” three times before the attack. If Kieu is found guilty, she faces felony charges of torture and aggravated mayhem, with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a knife.

The husband, whose name was not reported, was treated and released from the University of California Irvine Medical Center. Doctors were unable to reattach his penis, which was mangled beyond repair by the garbage disposal, but the performed a surgery which allows him to urinate.

The husband testified that his wife cutting off his penis was like ending his life:

“She murdered me that night. I will never have a sex life again. My mental state is improving, but it may never be what it was before.”

In defense of Catherine Kieu, Deputy Public Defender Frank Bittar told jurors that Kieu’s traumatic childhood in war-torn Vietnam caused a mental illness they hope might prevent her from conviction on the charges of aggravated mayhem and torture. They also claim the husband subjected Kieu to sexual and verbal abuse.

Police believe a body found buried in a California backyard might belong to a teen missing since 2009. Steven Humphrey, reported missing in 2009, reportedly resided in the Fresno neighborhood at the time of his disappearance.

Steven Humphrey was 15 at the time of his disappearance. He and his sister Jessica lived with their father and grandmother.

As reported by the Fresno Bee, Steven left home one evening and never returned. The teen told his sister and grandmother that he was running to the store and would be right back. Steven’s family was concerned, as it was unlike him to stay away from home without calling.

Despite his family’s concern, Fresno police treated the case as a runaway situation. Law enforcement officials closed the case within months.

Steven’s family never gave up. Working with the Polly Klaas Foundation, they posted flyers and maintained information about his disappearance on the website.

Unfortunately nobody had any information about what happened to the teen until four years later.

Acting on a tip, Fresno Police and homicide detectives produced a search warrant and began digging in a neighbor’s backyard. It took over 20 detectives, and a tractor, hours to sift through nearly 20 tons of dirt. They eventually recovered remains that appeared to belong to a teenager. The body was taken to the coroner’s office for further identification.

As reported by ABC, Steven’s family believes that the body found might belong to the missing teen. They have been waiting since 2009 for some sense of closure.

Randy Essman, Steven’s uncle stated that they “know he’s not going to come home, but it’s stirring it all up again. He pointed out that the family “has been waiting for this day for four years.”

Police have interviewed several neighbors, but have not made any arrests or identified suspects. At this point, police are not confirming or denying whether they were search for Humphrey when they obtained the search warrant.  They simply state that they received a tip that there might be a body buried in the backyard.

Steven’s family remains hopeful that the body found might belong to the teen. They have mourned his disappearance for years, and are ready for some solid answers.

There has been a lot of shady reporting regarding the Boston Marathon bombing earlier this week. CNN was criticized yesterday after it falsely reported that a suspect had been ID’d and arrested by police. Now, new images showing the alleged bomb suspect have sparked another witch hunt.

The photos were published by the NY Post under the headline “Bag Men” and with the subtitle: “Feds seek these two pictured at Boston Marathon.” According to the article, the bomb suspect image was passed around between officials on Thursday as they searched for person responsible for the bombing.

Police reportedly believe that the bombs, which were made out of pressure cookers and metal shards, were most likely brought to the scene in a large duffel bag. Authorities have been scanning photos from the marathon looking for suspicious characters carrying large bags. These two apparently fit the bill.

The bomb suspect image quickly went viral on the internet and was eventually picked up by media publications. But shortly after the photos were published, it was revealed that the two men in the image were not considered suspects.

According to John Miller of CBS, the photo was likely passed around by police officers but it does not show potential suspects. According to Miller, the photo was picked up by officials after it went viral online. But after examining the photos police decided that the two men were not suspects.

Miller said: “Those are not the pictures that are going to be released today by the authorities … Here’s what happens. Those pictures were on the Internet yesterday morning and then they started going viral on different sites, and then different intelligence fusion centers around the country picked those up and they post them into bulletins and say any law enforcement agencies who can identify these people, we’ll take that information. Then it ends up leaking back to the newspaper, so it comes out in one big circle.”

The NY Post wrote an article today saying that the two men in the photo had been cleared by police. The paper also released a statement saying that it stood by its “Bag Men” story

The statement reads: “We stand by our story … The image was emailed to law enforcement agencies yesterday afternoon seeking information about these men, as our story reported. We did not identify them as suspects.”

According to the Washington Times, the FBI is set to release images of the bomb suspect later today at a press briefing.

Xbox 720 rumors on hardware specifications are saying the Xbox 360 hardware has been shrunk down to a system-on-a-chip (SoC) which will provide the Xbox 720 backwards compatibility for the 360.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the Xbox 720 always online rumor, among other revelations, has some gamers saying the future of next generation consoles looks grim. But the revelation of the Xbox Mini also said the Xbox 720 always online rumors were wrong.

The Xbox 720 rumors about the Xbox 360 SoC come from a note on PasteBin:

“Have you read the VGLeaks article about the Durango specs? Yes? Good because everything you read in that article was 100% correct. Except, for one tiny little detail that MS kept guarded from most devs until very recently. That detail being that every Durango ships with a Xbox 360 SOC. There was a reason why MS hired so many former IBM and AMD employees. … All I know, and all I need to know about this new change is that I (or a game dev) can use the 360 SOC in parallel with the original Durango hardware. … [The Xbox 360 SoC] also increases Durango’s processing power a fair amount.”

This mystery person also claims wireless controllers for the Xbox 720 will once again require AA batteries, but that battery life has been improved by 16 percent. He or she also claims the Xbox 360 SoC will be used in the Xbox Mini and that both systems will use operating system technology pulled from Windows 8, meaning that the Xbox 720 will run the new WinRT framework. The idea behind this would be to allow any game developed for the Windows App store to be easily ported to the Xbox 720, which makes sense since Microsoft has been focused on developing a unified operating system.

The Xbox 720 having a Xbox 360 SoC for backward compatibility is not without precedent. The original versions of the PlayStation 3 came with a PlayStation 2 shrunk down onto a daughterboard. The Xbox 360, on the other hand, emulated in software the original Xbox hardware. Of course, this approach has a performance and game support penalty, while a 360 SoC would significantly increase the price of the Xbox 720.

Alexis Bledel recently took a moment to discuss her new engagement ring and the plans surrounding her upcoming wedding.

The 31-year-old actress showed off the diamond ring for the very first time during her appearance at the Remembering Sunday premiere in California. Although Bledel is extremely happy with the ring, she revealed that her fiance Vincent Kartheiser picked it out.

As for the wedding itself, the former Gilmore Girls star revealed that she doesn’t intend to make plans all by herself. In addition to picking out the ring, Alexis Bledel stated that Kartheiser intend to make all of the preparations as a couple.

Although the pair fully intend to walk down the aisle at some point in the near future, the actress said they hadn’t started making plans for the wedding just yet.

Vincent Kartheiser practiced his proposal on his Mad Men co-stars before finally popping the question to Bledel. Elisabeth Moss and Jessica Pare both served as stand-ins for his fiance-to-be.

“It was purely comedic but he was giving [Elisabeth] and I a facetious rendition of his planned proposal. We were like, ‘Great! Lets do this one without cursing and without yelling!’” Pare explained to the folks at People.

Alexis Bledel and Vincent Kartheiser struck up a romantic relationship during the fifth season of AMC’s hit television series. Bledel portrayed the mistress of Kartheiser’s character on the show. The two became engaged last month after dating for roughly a year.

The actress’ engagement ring is described as featuring a “large, round-cut diamond set on a vintage platinum band.”

Prior to getting together with her Mad Men co-star, Alexis Bledel dated former Gilmore Girls and Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia for several years.

Anzor Tsarnaev, father of suspected Boston bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, and deceased suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, has said that “all hell will break loose” if his surviving son is killed in the current manhunt in the Boston area.

Earlier today, Anzor Tsarnaev spoke with AP reporters, and later, the elder Tsarnaev granted an interview from his home in the Russian city of Makhachkala as the manhunt wore on.

In the initial interview, Tsarnaev expressed disbelief his sons were implicated in the bombing, and he said:

“My son is a true angel … Dzhokhar is a second-year medical student in the U.S. He is such an intelligent boy. We expected him to come on holidays here.”

Speaking to ABC, the elder Tsarnaev explained that he’d talked to his sons after the Boston Marathon bombing. Anzor Tsarnaev said: ”We talked about the bombing. I was worried about them.”

Dzhokhar’s father said the young men reassured him: ”Everything is good, Daddy. Everything is very good.”

In the later conversation, Anzor Tsarnaev said to his son Dzhokhar Tsarnaev: ”Give up. Give up. You have a bright future ahead of you. Come home to Russia.”

Darkly, the man added: ”If they killed him, then all hell would break loose … If they kill my second child, I will know that it is an inside job, a hit job. The police are to blame … Someone, some organization is out to get them.”

A former classmate of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev also spoke to ABC, saying: ”He was a great athlete. He did well. I think he won a scholarship for it. This is very unexpected … this is out of the ordinary. Completely shocking.”

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev remains at large, and it is speculated that surrender negotiations may be ongoing.

A Michigan grandma has been sentenced to 22 years for shooting her grandson six times. Sandra Layne, age 75, is accused of killing Johnathan Hoffman, age 22, as he tried to call 911 for help.

Layne defended her actions, claiming she killed her grandson in self-defense. Hoffman moved in with his grandmother in West Bloomfield, as sister was receiving care in Arizona for a brain tumor.

As reported by the Detroit Free Press, Layne testified that she purchased the gun as she became fearful of her grandson. Hoffman reportedly abused numerous drugs, including synthetic marijuana, which was found in his system the day of the shooting.

Layne explained that on the evening in question, she and her grandson had a verbal argument that continued to escalate. Hoffman was fearful of being incarcerated due to his positive drug screening. Layne states that her grandson threatened her and demanded money so he could run away.

Despite her self-defense argument, a jury found Layne guilty of second degree murder on March 19. On Thursday April 18, the grandma was sentenced to 22 years for shooting her grandson.

Speaking before the sentencing Layne expressed remorse, stating that she wished she had never purchased the gun. As reported by CBS News, She blamed her daughter several times for leaving the teen with her, knowing that he was troubled and abused drugs.

Layne’s daughter, Jennifer Hoffman, also spoke before sentencing, stating that her mother was “pure evil and, if given the opportunity, would surely kill again.”

Judge Denise Langford Morris sentenced Layne to a minimum of 22 years and a maximum of 40 years in prison. Second degree murder in Michigan is normally punishable with a sentence of 12 to 20 years. However, Judge Langford Morris found the circumstances of the case especially troubling.

During sentencing the judge pointed out that “grandmothers are supposed to protect.”

As Layne is 75-years-old, the sentence of 22 years is likely a life sentence. As the judge read her decision the grandma sobbed uncontrollably as her daughter grinned and gave her a “thumbs-up.”

Ryan Lochte is an interesting person. He has won multiple Olympic medals, he says “Jeah” a lot, and he has his own television show. He also gives some of the best interviews in the business.

Lochte’s interview on  Good Morning, Philly today was so brilliant that news anchors Mike Jerrick and Sheinelle Jones could not contain their laughter.

Jerric and Jones interviewed Lochte today and, somehow, they were able to control their laughter until after the swimmer signed off.

The news anchors were able to refrain from laughing as Lochte gave them classic answers like, “what am I not doing,” “what?” and “my philosophy is that if you’re a man at night you have to be a man in the morning.”

Lochte also explained what a bathroom is and explained that he’s so much different than any other Olympian.

After the interview ended, the news anchors broke down in laughter as they tried to figure out who decided that it would be a good idea to put the Olympic swimmer on TV.

Jerrick asked: “How are they going to find enough material for an entire season?”

Jones could only manage: “I guess he’s good looking.”

Two members of the Expedition 35 crew will be embarking on a spacewalk today outside of the International Space Station.

Astronauts Pavel Vinogradov and Roman Romanenko will spend six-hours outside of the ISS to retrieve several science experiments. NASA writes in a press release that the astronauts will also be installing a new navigational aid.

Nasa writes: “The spacewalkers’ first task will be to install the Obstanovka experiment on the station’s Zvezda service module. Obstanovka will study plasma waves and the effect of space weather on Earth’s ionosphere … They will retrieve the Biorisk experiment, which studied the effect of microbes on spacecraft structures.”

“If time permits, they also will retrieve one section of the Vinoslivost experiment, which exposed materials samples to space. While at the far end of Zvezda, Vinogradov and Romanenko will replace a faulty retro-reflector device, one of a suite of navigational aids that will provide assistance to the European Space Agency’s Albert Einstein Automated Transfer Vehicle 4 cargo ship during its final approach for an automated docking to the space station in June.”

Today’s spacewalk will be the 167th outside of the International Space Station. It will be the seventh for Vinogradov and the first for Romanenko.

Ruslan Tsarni, uncle of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, has spoken out to press about the situation in Boston — blasting his “loser” nephews but urging press not to blame Chechnya or Islam for the attack.

Speaking from outside his home in Montgomery Village, Maryland, a fiery Ruslan Tsarni spoke to gathered press members about his nephews.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is currently the subject of a manhunt of unprecedented scale in Massachusetts while Tamerlan Tsarnaev has died, reportedly of injuries sustained after his younger brother accidentally ran him down in a chaotic confrontation on the campus of MIT last night.

In the heated interview, Ruslan Tsarni blasted his nephews for potentially casting shame on Islam and Chechnya and urging surviving nephew Dzhokhar to surrender, saying: ”Turn yourself in … Turn yourself in and ask for forgiveness … ask for forgiveness from these people.”

Tsarni said he had no idea his nephews may have been involved in such activities and would have turned them in himself had he known.

Of possible motivation, Tsarni said it was down to “being losers … hatred to those who were able to settle themselves.”

Ruslan Tsarni raged: “He put shame on the entire Chechnyan ethnicity … Anything else to do with Islam, it’s a fraud, it’s a fake.”

Tsarni also said: ”Those who suffered, we share in them with their grief. I kneel in front of them seeking their forgiveness in name of family.”

Visibly angry, Tsarni professed a love for America and his life here, saying: ”I respect this country. I love this country … This country gives chance to everybody else.”

Ruslan Tsarni requested press keep a distance from the home after the press conference.

As an increasing number of cable and internet video subscription services continue to fight over the rights for TV shows the quality of those shows have been increasing. Here’s to hoping that Hemlock Grove can live up to that same type of increasing show quality.

Fort Worth, Texas — A Craigslist deal that apparently was a robbery in disguise resulted in the fatal shooting of the suspect.

Two men arranged to meet outside a Fort Worth Metro PCS store to complete a transaction for a cell phone which had been advertised on Craigslist. The presumed seller of the phone, according to police, instead tried to rob the other man when they met up.

Unbeknownst to the would-be robber, the buyer had a concealed carry handgun license and was indeed packing heat at the time of the rendezvous. When the seller tried to rob him, the alleged victim pulled out his gun and opened fire. The Craigslist seller, identified in media accounts as Desmond Paige, 20, was shot multiple times in the chest and died at the scene in the store parking lot. Paige reportedly was on a parole after serving a jail sentence for a violent crime. It is not clear at this point whether he also was armed too, but investigating officers have reportedly identified him as the perpetrator of the attempted Craigslist robbery.

The buyer suffered a wrist injury in the scuffle on Tuesday afternoon “although it’s not known if he accidentally shot himself or was shot by Paige.” He was treated at a local hospital for the wound.

Authorities have not announced as yet whether they will pursue any charges against the alleged robbery victim in the Craigslist deal gone wrong.

In a related incident last month, a Dallas Craigslist user was pistol-whipped and robbed after meeting a man who was supposedly selling an iPhone on Craigslist.

The bipartisan Senate proposal to to expand background checks failed 54 – 46 Wednesday, with four Democrats siding with 41 Republicans to oppose the piece of gun control legislation.

All four of the Democrats — Max Baucus, Mark Begich, Heidi Heitkamp, and Mark Pryor — come from conservative states. Three of the four have touch re-election campaigns ahead of them. Had the four senators stood with the rest of their party, the bill would have passed.

“Montana,” Baucus said in explanation for his vote.

Montana is the fourth largest state in size, but just the 44th in population size. This leaves the state with a predominantly rural population, and rural communities see little need for gun control. Nevertheless, Montana’s other Democratic senator, Jon Tester, still voted in favor of the bill. Unlike Baucus, Tester is not up for re-election until 2018.

Senator Begich of Arkansas offered poor timing as his excuse.

“It’s dangerous to do any type of policy in an emotional moment,” Begich said. “Because human emotions then drive the decision. Everyone’s all worked up. That’s not enough.”

Begich is a first-term senator up for re-election in Alaska. He had also voted against allowing the bill to enter debate in the first place.

Mark Pryor of Arkansas is also facing re-election. He expressed his opposition before the vote.

“I oppose the Manchin-Toomey amendment,” Pryor said. “Instead, I will support the Grassley amendment that enforces the laws we already have on the books. As I’ve said before, I believe we need to deal with the real issues behind gun violence, and that includes mental health and school safety. The Grassley amendment accomplishes this while protecting the rights of law-abiding Arkansans.”

Heitkamp of North Dakota is not up for re-election, but she barely won last November. Her state is deeply conservative, and she won by fewer than 3,000 votes.

“This conversation should be about what is in people’s minds, not about what is in their hands,” Heitkamp said before the vote. “I commend Senators Manchin and Toomey for working so hard to bring a serious bill to the floor. However, in its current form I do not see a path for my support. I’ve thought long and hard about this, I’ve taken the tough meetings, and I’ve heard overwhelmingly from the people of North Dakota; and at the end of the day my duty is to listen to and represent the people of North Dakota.”

Both Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a Democrat, and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, a Republican, maintained ‘A’ ratings from the NRA. On Wednesday night, the NRA threatened to lower the ratings of any politician who voted in favor of the legislation. The organization releases these ratings during election season, giving them significant power to sway politics among both Republicans and Democrats in moderately conservative states.

Four Republicans crossed the aisle to vote in favor of background checks — Pat Toomey, Mark Kirk, Susan Collins, and John McCain — but their support was not enough to make up for the Democratic defectors.

Even if the bill had passed the Senate, gun control legislation faces a much steeper challenge in the House of Representatives, where Republicans hold a sizable majority.
