Were there people looting after the bombing at the Boston Marathon yesterday?

In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing, there have been several reports showcasing the heroism and kindness from innocent bystanders at the scene.

One man was praised as a hero for helping those who were wounded at the scene. Patton Oswalt wrote that the attack last night proved to him that there will always be more good people than evil people. And Mr. Rogers urged us all to re-watch the footage from the bombing and take notice of all the people helping.

Unfortunately, there have also been reports showcasing people at their worst. The Westboro Baptist church announced plans to picket the funerals of the Boston Marathon bombing victims and a video surfaced shortly after the attack that reportedly showed a group of people stealing merchandise while others were busy helping people who were wounded in the explosion.

The YouTube user who posted the footage wrote: “People stealing marathon jackets, after the bombings, while they were still searching for bombs and kids and innocent were dying and or losing limbs. Not caring about their own lives just free merchandise!”

The video may look incriminating but it doesn’t appear that the people in the video were looters.

Let’s point a few things out.

First, if these people were really looting, at least they weren’t throwing bricks through windows or stealing TVs. They were taking jackets from cardboard boxes.

Second, a commentator on YouTube who claims that he was one of the “looters,” said that the officials were giving away the jackets and that the video was filmed far away from the bombing site.

One commentator writes: “This was not near the blast…  It happened hours afterwards. No one in the area was injured, or in need of help… People were being told that the stuff was being given away.”

Lastly, if you watch the video closely you can also see someone place down a cardboard box full of merchandise. That typically doesn’t happen in the middle of a crime.

Billionaire bombshell Tamara Ecclestone is set to grace the May 2013 cover of Playboy.

The British beauty is certainly no stranger to the media spotlight. As the daughter of Formula One business mogul Bernie Ecclestone and former Armani model Slavica Ecclestone, the 28-year-old’s famous last name often commands public attention. With her stunning layout in Playboy, Tamara’s star is sure to burn even brighter.

In what may be a sly nod to her family’s fortune, the magazine cover finds Tamara Ecclestone stretched across a crystal encrusted Playboy bunny symbol alongside the tagline “The Diamond Heiress.”

Clad only in a pair of magnificent stiletto heels and a delicate dusting of crystals across her breasts, the brunette coyly employs a substantially larger crystal to cover her bikini area.

In addition to the saucy cover, the May issue of Playboy also includes an eight-page Tamara Ecclestone pictorial and interview.

“I am so proud of this beautiful shoot,” the heiress exclaimed in a statement about the Playboy issue. “As a woman, I believe you have to embrace your body, and feel beautiful both inside and out!”

Ecclestone also expressed pride at being chosen to appear in a publication that has a long-standing and impressive history of showcasing female beauty.

“Playboy is so iconic, and for nearly 60 years, the magazine has featured some of the world’s most beautiful women in its pages,” she explained. “I am extremely honored to be part of this legacy as the magazine’s May cover girl!”

It appears to be an exciting year for Tamara Ecclestone. In February she announced her engagement to fiance Jay Rutland, just one month after the couple was introduced by mutual friends. In an exclusive interview with HELLO! magazine, the billionaire beauty spoke about the couple’s fast-moving romance:

“Our engagement has been very sudden and I get that there are people who won’t understand that and will read things into it. But my response to that would be, ‘When you know, you know.’ I don’t think the amount of time you are together has anything to do with it. All I know is that I have never felt more comfortable with anyone so quickly, or felt as happy as I feel right now.”

The Dell Latitude 3330 has debuted and is directly aimed at students and businesses alongside an education friendly storage system.

The lightweight notebook features a 13.3-inch display that output 1,366 x 768 pixels resolution.

Also featured with the Latitude 3330 is a new Mobile Computer Cart which is capable of transporting up to 30 notebooks at one time.

Dell also offers the Mobile Computing Cart with managed and unmanaged services which can hold a wide range of notebook sizes and various form factors. The Managed storage solution includes remote management and IT updates for devices stored with the hardware. Because notebooks can be upgrade en masse and remotely it takes some of the stress off the schools IT department.

Dell has configured the notebooks for use with various Intel processors from Celeron to Core i5 options. The notebooks also feature between 2GB and 6GB RAM. Educational and business consumers can also choose their operating system which includes options for Windows 7, Windows 8 and the open-source Ubuntu 12.04 OS.

On the storage side the notebooks offer four options: 128GB SSD, 320GB, 640GB or a 500GB combined SSD and hard disk setup.

In terms of connectivity the Dell Latitude 3330 offers Wi-Fi, WiDi support, a VGA connection, HDMI port, USB 3.0 ports and the option to add USB docking. Dell also throws in a 720P HD webcame.

The Latitude 3330 will go on sale in April with a starting cost of $419. Customers wanting to pick up the Mobile Computer Cart will shell out $1,900 for the unmanaged solution and $2,800 for the managed option.

As tablets and smartphones continue to take over large swaths of the mobile computing market it looks as if Dell’s approach surrounds ease of use through better mass device management.

Kat Von D has revealed that she and her fiancé DeadMau5 — real name Joel Zimmerman — are planning to have an underwater-themed wedding.

The 31-year-old tattoo artist, who was previously engaged to Sandra Bullock’s ex-husband Jesse James — who, incidentally, had his own wedding just last month — told People that the August 10 wedding ceremony would take place before 200 friends and family members in Los Angeles.

Von D said the decision came from the couple’s mutual love for H.P. Lovecraft’s short story, “The Call of Cthulu.” The L.A. Ink star said the ceremony will be “the furthest thing from traditional.” Her dress, she said, will reflect the underwater theme.

“It will have a sleek silhouette and include hints of iridescent teals, blues and deep violet ombré gradients,” Von D said. She has tasked Falguni and Shane Peacock to make the gown, which her fiancé will help design. “I didn’t know the dress was supposed to be a surprise,” she added. The High Voltage Tattoo owner said she isn’t worried about superstitions or the fact that she’s having an unconventional wedding.

“Being with Joel is the only thing that feels more natural than tattooing,” she said.

Her 32-year-old fiancé added, “Our wedding is merely a celebration of that love and commitment we live in already.”

The couple became engaged in December of last year after Deadmau5 proposed on Twitter. Using his love’s full name, the Canadian music producer tweeted:

This is the first marriage for Deadmau5, and the second for Von D, who was married to fellow tattoo artist Oliver Peck from 2003 to 2007. She began dating Jesse James in 2010, and the two became engaged in January 2011. By July, they had split up and, a month later, they announced that the engagement was back on. However, the couple broke up for good just a month after that. James became engaged to drag racer Alexis DeJoria, daughter of entrepreneur John Paul DeJoria, in 2012, and the two married on March 24 at her father’s estate.

Von D waited a year after her break up with James to begin dating Deadmau5, and they broke up in November after only two months of dating. They then became engaged a month later with Deadmau5′s Twitter proposal.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier actor Anthony Mackie is not happy with his costume as Falcon.

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie has been set to play the winged superhero Falcon, whose everyday name is Samuel Wilson.

Samuel Wilson had a rough upbringing, with his father being killed in a fight while he was still young. Young Wilson turned to a life of crime for a while, taking the name of “Snap” Wilson as he worked for the mob. On an assignment in Rio de Janeiro, his plane crashed, and Red Skull used the power of the Cosmic Cube to give him the ability to talk to birds. Eventually, Captain America snapped him out of it and Falcon became his sidekick, using a harness made by Black Panther.

In the interview with Anthony Mackie, the interviewer (a woman sporting a rather British accent) says, “Now we’ve just seen some concept art that Marvel has released of the Falcon.” Anthony Mackie nodded and acknowledged it, and the interviewer continues, “for Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

We then see a rendering of Falcon in a flying suit as the interviewer says, “Are you happy with how the costume looks, given how…”

Anthony Mackie cuts in with emphatic “No! I am very upset. When you sign on to a superhero movie, you want to be a superhero. You want spandex, you want that! … That is why you sign on to a superhero movie. … That’s what you want. Man, I went into it, I’m like I want the wings, I want the bird, I want all this sh**. You know, cuz you want little kids for Halloween to dress up like you.”

The interviewer says, “And it could have gone quite wrong.”

Anthony Mackie cuts in again, “It didn’t have to go all the way wrong.”

Matthias Schoenaerts is one of the most elusive, yet intriguing forces to come out of Belgium. At first, his physical appearance is disarming– one would not expect a blue eyed, well manicured, towering figure that, for the most part, is in complete juxtaposition of the gritty roles he built his resume around.  As a newcomer to America, Schoenaerts first gained traction in the Belgium film Bullhead, as a steroid addicted cattle farmer. The performance won the affable actor rave reviews and the film itself earned a 2012 Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year. Dedicated to character study, Schoenaerts has his own kind of method in taking on roles that border the edge of sanity.

In Rust and Bone, Schoenaerts sheds layers in his visceral performance as Ali, a nightclub bouncer, drawn to the seductive nature of Stephanie (Marion Cotillard). The two favor a call and response kind of chemistry, that at times is playful, yet intense as they try to find their footing with each other. Ali is a man who has fallen on hard times to survive with his young son in toe. Complex in his nature, he’s a humanly flawed character, and is easy to be judged for his brute honesty, and overwrought physicality. Still, there’s a cool composed nature Schoenaerts carries with Ali, which only makes for the moments of spontaneity, roll naturally in an explosive impetus.

With matinee looks, and a genuine need to understand the characters he brings forth, Schoenaerts is primed for American cinema. Later this year he will be seen in a supporting role alongside Cotillard, Mila Kunis, and Clive Owen in Blood Ties, as well as taking a lead in the film The Loft. The Inquisitr’s Niki Cruz caught up with Schoenaerts to discuss his film Rust and Bone.

THE INQUISITR: What drew you into this project?

MATTHIAS SCHOENAERTS: First of all, [Jacques] Audiard. At the very first instant I was like, “I don’t even care what it’s about. I’ll do it.”  The film is so rich.  It’s so profound. It’s a story of contrast. It’s strong, it’s vulnerable, it’s ugly, it’s beautiful, it’s poetic, it’s tender, it’s brutal, and it’s visceral. It’s twisted but in a very natural way.

THE INQUISITR: Was there anything that surprised you about the character while you were filming it, that wasn’t initially apparent?

SCHOENAERTS: Absolutely. When I first read the script I had a certain idea that immediately changed after the second time I read it, and after I started working with Jacques. It’s something that grows organically because that’s the way he works. He wants you to redefine a character permanently. He doesn’t want you to find the character and then just stick with that. He thinks that’s boring. He says, “Make sure you have some kind of blueprint to work with but then make sure you’re ready to leave that behind, and be ready to redefine.” It was very, “Don’t let your actions in a scene depend on an idea that you made for yourself about the character. Just be authentic in the moment, and respond, and be intuitive.” That’s the way he makes his films.

THE INQUISITR: Were you able to get a sense of Ali right away? Jacques had said the character on the page was initially different.

SCHOENAERTS: Yeah, on paper he was darker, more serious, but when we started rehearsing we realized there was no seductive quality to the guy. Maybe because he was strong, but something malicious came out of him. So we were like, “We have to add some playfulness. There’s got to be something joyful about the guy.” And we realized we had to make the guy very simple, very humble, very sincere, and very straightforward. At the same time, of course he does a lot of things that you would qualify as being not good. So we were like, “Okay, how can we make it happen that people will not hate him for it? Okay, they’re going to judge him, and hate him a little, but still they’re going to care for him.” There’s something very honest about him and that’s a quality that you can understand that she would fall for. He’s not hiding anything. He’s just being who he is in the pure sense of the word.

THE INQUISITR: Juggling all of those qualities that make up Ali’s complex nature is astounding. What’s important is that he’s still a sympathetic character. Was it difficult to bring that out of him?

SCHOENAERTS: It’s all about being sincere and portraying him as a guy who doesn’t calculate his moves, or doesn’t edit himself. He’s not a guy that puts himself into perspective and then starts acting certain ways, so he’s perceived in other ways. There’s no bird’s-eye view. There’s no self-reflection. That’s what we had created. Of course that’s extremely complex to create because you want to make it feel as natural as possible. We worked a lot on it.

THE INQUISITR: You’ve said in the past that you like to break down stereotypes. Is that one of the ways that helped you achieve his complex nature in pre-production?

SCHOENAERTS: That’s something we developed while we were working on it. In the beginning we explored many different routes. Then during improv I started to let go of everything we thought of, and somehow in a very natural way there was a playfulness that just came along with how I was feeling in that very instant. All of a sudden Jacques was like, “Yes! This is it! This is wonderful! The guy is funny!” And not because he cracks a joke every second but there’s something very funny about him being very genuine. Of course it’s a heavy character, but if we made it too dark it would be unbearable.

THE INQUISITR: How did you prepare emotionally to bring the physicality out? Also, how did you prepare for a physical transformation?

SCHOENAERTS: I did a lot of boxing for a couple of months on a day-to-day basis. I had to eat a lot because he wanted me to grow a belly. He wanted me to look strong, but not fit. He wanted me to look like a guy that we can believe that was an athlete somewhere in his youth, but apparently didn’t have the means to continue that the last couple of years. He hit rock bottom probably a couple of years before the film starts, and he’s been trying to survive ever since. And then after that, the emotional part. How do you get there? It all comes down to the same thing–just being in the instant. The only thing you got to make sure is that you have your body filled with so much that has to do with the character, so you can release it in an instant, and be authentic and genuine in the moment.

THE INQUISITR: There’s this honesty to the chemistry you have with Marion. How was your preparation with Marion? Was it hard to find such an intense chemistry?

SCHOENAERTS: The thing is we didn’t have a lot of preparation. She was shooting Batman in the states, and then we met on set, so me and Jacques were concerned about it. I knew she was a great actress but I didn’t know what to expect about the chemistry. Jacques also, he always tends to work a lot with his actors to explore the scenes, and just to create a bond, and a language together. Just so you know how to feel, and to create an intimacy, so once you’re on set you can be really like, “Boom” and you don’t have to be cautious. It’s more so you know each other, and you talk straight forward, but we didn’t have that with Marion and so that was one big surprise. Once we got on set from the very first rehearsal, we had something very natural that happened. It was so genuine, and that was a relief, I think, for everyone, and for her as well because she didn’t know me, and you never know because you can have a chemistry off-set, and that doesn’t mean you’ll have it on-camera. You have the big symphony in your head or in your system somehow. Then you just dive into it.

THE INQUISITR: In many ways the heart of the film was about Ali’s self-realization of discovering that he’s a father. Personally, what’s the heart of the film for you?

SCHOENAERTS: To me the core of the film is two people discovering love and rediscovering life through love. That’s what I think the core is because of the fact that he does rediscover life, and he rediscovers love for everyone, for his kid, for Stephanie, and for his sister. It’s on so many levels that it changes his life.

THE INQUISITR: What can we look forward to in the recent future?

SCHOENAERTS: I have a Belgium film that I shot two years ago coming out called The Loft, which was fun. For the future I have some interesting projects, but I have to make up my mind still.

Matthias Schoenaerts Talks ‘Rust And Bone’, And Character Spontaneity [Exclusive] is a post from: The Inquisitr

An eared grebe fallout Monday night brought down as many as 10,000 birds in the area near the US Army’s Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah. It was a foggy night, with some reports of snow, when the thousands of birds started to rain down.

Robbie Knight, a wildlife biologist for the base, said that visibility was less than 20 feet. Apparently, some grebes believed that they saw water instead of land. Their calls attracted the rest of the flock.

Eared grebes fell out of the sky over an area of about two miles by 30 miles, including the Skull Valley Indian Reservation as well as Dugway.

Grebes are not ducks. The eared grebe has feet placed far back on its body, so it can’t walk very well. Yet these birds can’t take off from the ground. Despite these restrictions, it’s a highly migratory species that migrates between breeding grounds in southwestern Canada to as far as Guatemala for the winter.

In the sudden fog and snow Monday night, many of the grebes crash-landed. Some were hurt, and others were instantly killed.

However, healthy birds were also left helpless, because they couldn’t lift off. Therefore, human helpers were needed to pick up the eared grebes and load them into a truck so that they could be taken to water.

Wildlife biologist Hal Mitchell, who assisted in the effort, estimated that as many as 10,000 birds fell from the sky, with 5,000 being successfully released into the ponds.

In Dec. 2011, a flock of around 5,000 Eared Grebes crashed during a snow storm near Cedar City, UT. 3,500 grebes were rescued, but another 1,500 died.

In that incident, wildlife officials said that they thought the grebes confused the shiny surface of a WalMart parking lot, football fields, and other icy surfaces with bodies of water where they could sit out the storm.

Susan Tyner posted video of that fallout rescue, with assistance from Southwest Wildlife Foundation CEO Martin Tyner, which shows healthy Eared Grebes being returned to the water.

Thanks to hard-working wildlife rescue workers, thousands of fallen Eared Grebes will fly again.

Eared Grebe Fallout Of Up To 10,000 Birds Reported is a post from: The Inquisitr

Police have identified the second victim of the Boston Marathon bombings. Krystle M. Campbell, a 29-year-old woman from Medford, Massachusetts, was killed during the blast yesterday at the finish line of the marathon.

William A. Campbell, the woman’s father, told Yahoo News that he was shocked to learn about his daughter’s death.

Campbell said: “My daughter was the most lovable girl. She helped everybody and I’m just so shocked right now. We’re just devastated. She was a wonderful, wonderful girl. Always willing to lend a hand.”

Krystle M. Campbell did not run in the race. According to her father she was at the finish line to cheer on her boyfriend.

Campbell presumably worked for Hordon Health, a fitness organization located in Boston.

The company wrote on its Facebook page today:

“Hordon HEALTH lost a member of its extended family yesterday at the Boston Marathon. Her name was Krystle Campbell, and she died instantly yesterday at the bombings … Krystle was seldom caught not smiling, and not expressing her opinion. She was beautiful, she was loud, and everyone loved her for it. Along with the million dollar smile came head to toe freckles and gorgeous bright red hair, connecting her Irish roots and kid-like manor; it was easy to feel ten years younger around her, no matter who you were. She had tremendous passion and energy, and Krystle attacked life with vigor and excitement.

“Krystle you will be missed not only by those who knew you, loved you, and cherished you the most, but you will be deeply missed by this world as a whole. Your character, your fortitude, your conviction is something that this world desperately needs and now will forever miss.”

Earlier today, the 8-year-old boy who was killed in the blast was identified as Martin Richard.

Two North Korean submarines have reportedly disappeared from port. Although the subs were last seen at a naval base in the Hwanghae Province in early April, the news is just now filtering out to media outlets. While the capability of North Korea to shoot a long-range missile at the United States has largely been nixed during press conference about EMP attack threats, the possibility of a missile attack from a submarine has rarely been mentioned.

The thought of missing North Korean subs aiming a missile at a coastal city is causing concern for some Americans. While any coastal city could become a target, some analysts think California is a very likely location. If North Korea shot a missile along the coast of the state, some feel than an earthquake could occur and allow the attack to go largely undetected – at least for a time.

North Korea also allegedly bought 1,452 pounds of silver from China. Some researchers believe the silver was purchased to use for batteries on the Sang-O (Shark) mini-subs. Generals in the North Korean Navy allegedly feel the Shark submarines are viable weapons which could be used against both America and South Korea. The Sang-O submarines are typically considered coastal submarines. The subs can reportedly carry at least 15 crew members and a dozen scuba commandos.

While many Americans might believe that a missing North Korean submarine trolling the coast would quickly be detected, that may not necessarily be the case. During a recent discussion about the EMP Commission, Dr. William Forstchen highlighted just how real the possibility is for an EMP attack from a cargo ship or a submarine.

In 2012, a Russian boomer went unnoticed for nearly a month in US waters on the Gulf of Mexico. The nuclear-powered submarine sighting was not the only such occurrence in recent history. In 2009, another Russian submarine patrolled very close to the United States. The incident happened about the same time as Russian bombers were spotted in restricted airspace near Alaska and California.

Dr. Forstchen, a North Carolina college professor, also told The Inquisitr just how woefully unprepared America is for an EMP attack. The professor wrote the bestselling novel, One Second After. The book details the chaos which occurred in a small town after an EMP attack. His research was cited on the floor of Congress during discussions about EMP threats and the vulnerability of the power grid.

As the renowned professor so aptly noted, life as we know it would end without a functioning power grid. The nation’s electrical systems could be repaired, but most of the necessary components are made in China. The time frame to repair a downed power grid is a hotly disputed topic, but a quick flip of the switch after a visit to the storage room would not be a possibility. Many experts feel that it would take months, if not years, to get the overly-taxed power grid back online.

The bestselling author also pointed out the many ways a downed power grid would increase the EMP attack death toll sooner rather than later. The most obvious and immediate impact would involve the thousands of Americans who would perish when planes near the EMP zone would fall from the sky.

Without power, hospitals with still-functioning generators would not be able to keep patients alive after they run out of stored fuel. Grocery stores would reportedly have only empty shelves after about three days; leaving those without a garden or ability to hunt or fish, with very empty stomachs. Civil unrest would also cause an unthinkable amount of deaths, according to Dr. Forstchen.

The EMP Commission was established under a Republican-controlled Congress in 2001. The commission was re-established under a Democratic majority in 2006. The EMP preparedness commission was disbanded in 2008. EMPact America is an outspoken advocate for re-convening the Congressional commission to further preparedness efforts.

How concerned are you about the missing North Korea missing submarines and the possibility of a downed power grid?

According to Drew Olson of ESPN Wisconsin, Milwaukee Brewers starting pitching Yovani Gallardo was arrested for drunken driving early Tuesday morning . Milwaukee County Sheriffs Department spokesperson Fran McLaughlin told ESPN Wisconson that Gallardo was pulled over at 2:10 a.m. on Interstate 94.

Gallardo was originally pulled over for driving slowly and deviating lanes before failing a field sobriety test. The 27-year-old later registered a blood-alcohol level of .22 while Wisconsin’s legal limit is .08.

The Mexican right-hander is a first offender and will not spend time in jail, though his blood-alcohol level was almost three-times the legal limit. Gallardo could pay upwards of $800 for the offense which is only a citation.

In Wisconsin, a first-offender of drunken driving receives a citation instead of a misdemeanor or a felony. The six-year veteran won’t be so lucky if he gets behind the wheel drunk again and the Brewers aren’t taking any chances.

“We have been made aware of the situation with Yovani and we take this matter very seriously,” the Brewers said in a statement Tuesday morning. “We have expressed our disappointment to him and know he understands that behavior of this nature is of great concern to everyone in the organization.”

Gallardo is already off to a slow start this season with an 0-1 record and a 6.61 earned run average. He most recently lost to the St. Louis Cardinals after giving up five earned runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings pitched.

The 2010 All-Star won 16 games last season and has struck out 200 or more hitters in each of the last four seasons. Gallardo only has nine strikeouts in three starts this year as the Brewers have dropped to the bottom of the NL Central.

The Cardinals posted back-to-back shutouts against the Brewers on Friday and Saturday before the Brewers avoided the sweep in a 4-3 win on Sunday. The Brewers next take on the San Francisco Giants in a three-game set at Miller Park.

Gallardo is expected to pitch in game three on Thursday and that won’t change after the DUI early Tuesday. He’ll have to move past his drunken escapade if he hopes to get his first win of the season against the defending champs.

In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, the internet has been hopeful Anonymous would step up to the plate and again retaliate against real-life trolling organization the Westboro Baptist Church, a group that predictably and immediately announced an intention to harass the grieving residents of Boston with their universally unwelcome presence — but did Anonymous also hack the Westboro Baptist Church Facebook page?

Few American entities are as despised as the Westboro Baptist Church, a group that has made a name for itself by visiting and protesting the funerals of murdered children, soldiers, victims of attacks and others who died in notable and unusually sad circumstances — and when it was revealed they’d thanked God for the carnage in Boston and planned to visit with their messages of hate, Anonymous was implored to intervene. Late last night, it was reported that Anonymous had commandeered and defaced the WBC’s Facebook page.

Like the uncontrollable anti-heroes the internet has come to believe them to be, Anonymous addressed the Westboro Baptist Church issue with haste. The response echoed the one seen in December, when the group harassed and threatened the grieving families of Newtown, Connecticut and sparked fury by indicating an intent to picket the funerals of the slain Sandy Hook students.

But as for hacking the Westboro Baptist Church Facebook page? Not exactly. According to Mother Jones, initial reports that the WBC Facebook had been taken over by Anonymous to spread messages of love (and trolling) in the wake of the WBC threats to picket Boston were not precisely accurate.

What actually appears to have happened is that Anons have created a parody page, on which they counteract the Westboro Baptist Church’s terrible messages with counter pics of Martin Luther King, Jr. and some memes, and the spoof page managed to impress upon some Twitter users that a successful Facebook hack had been carried off — when that was never the intent.

MoJo explains:

“Earlier today, people on Twitter reported that Anonymous members had apparently hacked WBC’s Facebook account, rewriting bio information and plastering its wall with an assortment of meme-heavy images. Well, it turns out that they, and I, were a little too excited at the possibility. It looks like Anonymous members have been engaged in the brandjacking (read: squatting) of the (bogus) Westboro Baptist Church page for the past four months.”

Either way, internet citizens can take comfort in the fact that however they are doing it, some Anonymous factions are trolling the pants off the evil Westboro Baptist Church, an action we believe everyone can get behind.

A mother has been charged in the death of her toddler that was mauled to death by a pack of seven dogs. Summer Laminiack has been arrested for child cruelty in the death of 21-month-old Monica Renee Laminiack.

Three adults were reportedly present in the Laminiack home, but sleeping, when the toddler escaped through a dog door. Monica wandered into the backyard with the family’s seven dogs and was brutally mauled to death.

As reported by NBC News, the family became aware of the situation when the grandmother, Michelle McIntyre, woke up and heard the dogs barking and looked out the window. McIntyre was stunned to discover the seven pit bulls dragging her granddaughter’s body around the yard. She immediately screamed for help, but it was too late.

Authorities arrived and found the child dead. Police recovered shoes, a diaper, and shredded clothing that was found scattered throughout the yard.

As reported by WTOC, detectives have stated that the wounds indicate the dogs were attacking the child for an extended period of time. The severity of the wounds, including near decapitation, could not have occurred over the span of a few minutes.

All seven dogs, considered family pets, were euthanized. The Laminiack family insists that the dogs had never displayed any signs of aggression toward people and were always gentle with the toddler.

As reported by Jacksonville.com, authorities found the dogs well cared for and did not find any signs of neglect or mistreatment.

Monica’s 18-year-old mother has now been charged in the death of her toddler.  Authorities contend that the mother is responsible for her daughter being mauled by the dogs.

Summer reportedly surrendered to authorities yesterday. She has been released on $5,000 bond. Summer and her attorney have refused to comment on the mother’s arrest, or charges that she is responsible for her toddler being mauled by the dogs.

Jada Pinkett Smith wants to set the record straight about her rumored open marriage with 44-year-old Men In Black A-list actor Will Smith. They’ve been married since 1997, but Will set off a firestorm earlier this month when he allegedly told a UK magazine that they discussed not using the phrase “forsaking all others” in their wedding vows.

As The Inquisitr previously reported, Will said: “Our perspective is, you don’t avoid what’s natural and you’re going to be attracted to people.”

Needless to say, fans of Jada Pinkett Smith’s hunky hubby let their imagination run wild. Did that mean that Will had free rein to dabble with other women? Did Jada have the same rights?

On HuffPost Live, she tried to clarify by telling reporter Marc Lamont Hill that, “I’ve always told Will, ‘You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be okay.’”

It might have been an explanation that was worse than just keeping her mouth shut. Is there any man who can’t look in the mirror after he’s acted like a dog? Heh.

Result: the rumor mill went wild with speculation that the Smiths do indeed enjoy a so-called open marriage, where both Will and Jada Pinkett Smith might indulge themselves with a sweet temptation once in awhile.

Jada let the jokes and innuendo make the rounds for a little while longer, but on Sunday she finally posted yet another (lengthy) explanation to her Facebook page.

“The statement I made in regard to, “Will can do whatever he wants,” has illuminated the need to discuss the relationship between trust and love and how they co-exist…

“Here is how I will change my statement…Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship…this means we have a GROWN one.”

Does that mean most of us can’t expect to get lucky with Will or Jada Pinkett Smith any time soon?

New Zealand’s Parliament passed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage Wednesday.

Parliament voted 77-44 in favor of the bill on its third reading, the second-to-last step to enacting laws in the country. The next and final step, in which the governor-general gives royal assent, is generally guaranteed.

Louisa Wall, the bill’s sponsor, said she is “very proud to be a member of a Parliament that has voted overwhelmingly to give New Zealanders, regardless of their sex, sexual orientation or gender, the right to marry.”

The New Zealand vote comes just under a week after Uruguay’s Congress approved a measure to legalize same-sex marriage. The measure was passed by 71 of the 91 members of the Chamber of Deputies present. The next step for the South American country is for its president, José Mujica, to sign the bill, which he has said he supports.

New Zealand has allowed civil unions since 2005, giving many legal rights to same-sex couples. The new law will allow gay couples to jointly adopt children and will allow same-sex marriages to be recognized in other countries. The new law will go into effect in late August.

Not only will the Uruguay measure allow citizens to marry, but foreigners will also be allowed to come to the country for same-sex marriage. The same practice applies to foreign heterosexual couples.

The proposal, called the “marriage equality project,” to allow same-sex marriage in Uruguay was drafted by the gay rights group the Black Sheep Collective.

“We are living in a historic moment,” said Federico Grana, one of the leaders of the collective. “In terms of the steps needed, we calculate that the first gay couples should be getting married 90 days from the promulgation of the law, or in the middle of July.”

If both New Zealand Uruguay pass their same-sex marriage bills, the number of nations allowing the practice will rise to 13. Of those countries, eight are in Europe. The first was the Netherlands in 2001, and Belgium, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden followed afterward. Argentina, Canada, and South Africa are the three non-European groups that have legalized same-sex marriage.

In the US, nine states allow same-sex marriage. Massachusetts became the first state to legally recognize gay marriage in 2004. It was followed by Connecticut, Iowa, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont, and Washington as well as the District of Columbia. California began granting marriage licenses to same-sex couples in June 2008, but the practice ended in November of that year due to the passage of Proposition 8, which limited marriages to those between one man and one woman.

Amazon is extending its Android Appstore to nearly 200 countries in the next several months.

On Wednesday, the retail giant announced that app developers can now begin submitting their applications for distributions in the new locations.

Amazon is also allowing developers to register their productions for international distribution. As Amazon’s App Store expands, developers who sign up internationally will gain immediate access to those areas.

The Amazon Android Appstore is already available in the United States, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Japan. Some of the app stores new locations include Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, India, South Africa, Papua New Guinea, and Vatican City.

Appstore customers in the new regions will be able to take advantage of Android tablet and phone apps immediately upon release.

The expansion of the Amazon Appstore arrives just months after the company began offering a test-drive feature for users who want to try out apps before they buy. Amazon also introduces a new type of virtual currency that helps even out the pricing of apps across various markets. The program known as Amazon Coins allows customers to buy Coins in their local currency and then use those coins to purchase apps and to make in-app purchases.

Facebook attempted to use a similar cross-country payment system but eventually abandoned the program in place of local currencies based on app and developer location.

According to Electronista: “A virtual currency helps even out the pricing of apps across multiple markets, simplifying income for developers, though a similar system by Facebook was dropped in favor of purchases using local currencies instead.”

Senator Joe Manchin doesn’t believe his expanded background checks bill will pass in the Senate and seems to blame the National Rifle Association for “lying” about the proposed amendment.

“We will not get the votes today,” Manchin told NBC News. His proposed gun control bill, the Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act, seeks to expand background checks, especially applying them to online and gun show sales.

It is a bipartisan effort at gun control between the Democratic Manchin and Republican Senator Pat Toomey, and, with growing GOP support, the background checks bill might be the best shot the nation has at some sort of common sense gun control legislation.

Still, the NRA seems dead-set on destroying the bill, at least according to Manchin. Votes on gun legislation in the Senate will begin at 4 pm on Wednesday, and, thus far, the Manchin/Toomey bill has 52 yes votes, 40 no votes, and eight undecided.

A Wednesday statement from Manchin’s office seemed to show some optimism for the background check bill’s chances.

“Senator Manchin remains optimistic and hopeful that if Senators and the American people read the bill, they will support his commonsense approach to require criminal and mental background checks for advertised sales, including purchases at gun shows and online sales, without infringing on Americans’ Second Amendment rights,” a Manchin spokesperson said in the statement.

“So far Senator Manchin has managed to garner support from an A-rated NRA member and three Republican Senators as well as 90 percent of his own party. With a record like that, I see no reason to bet against Senator Manchin today. He will continue to explain his bill to his colleagues and anyone with concerns until the minute they vote.”

But on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Manchin seemed to hold the NRA primarily responsible for his present difficulties.

“Now when when they are so disingenuous and telling members that our legislation, and I quote, ‘would criminalize the firearms by honest citizens,’” he said. “This bill does not even touch …”

“That’s a lie,” host Scarborough interjected.

“It is a lie, Joe,” Manchin agreed. “If they lose credibility, they’ve lost everything in Washington.”

Manchin is himself an NRA member with an “A rating.”

A suspicious letter was sent to President Obama and received at an off-site location Wednesday.

The letter is being investigated as possibly being linked to one that was sent to Sen. Roger Wicker earlier this week. That letter, which was received at an off-site sorting facility, tested positive for the deadly poison ricin. The one sent to Obama also contained a “suspicious substance,” authorities said.

“A letter addressed to the president was received at a remote screening facility containing a suspicious substance. We are working closely with Capitol Police and the FBI in this investigation,” said a Secret Service spokesman.

The letter sent to Sen. Wicker was intercepted Tuesday, one day after the bombing at the Boston Marathon, and further heightened security concerns at a time when Congress is considering immigration reform and tougher gun laws.

“Monday’s attack in Boston reminded us that terrorism can still strike anywhere at any time,” Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday. “And as yesterday’s news of an attempt to send ricin to the Capitol reminds us, it is as important as ever to take the steps necessary to protect Americans from those who would do us harm.”

A laboratory in Maryland confirmed the presence of ricin in the letter sent to Sen. Wicker after initial field tests found traces of the poison. The FBI said additional testing was required because field and preliminary tests can often produce inconsistent results.

“Only a full analysis performed at an accredited laboratory can determine the presence of a biological agent such as ricin,” the bureau said. “Those tests are in the process of being conducted and generally take from 24 to 48 hours.”

Wicker has since been assigned a protective detail, and senators were told Tuesday that the mail facility would be shut down temporarily in order “to make sure they get everything squared away,” McCaskill said.

Beyonce, international superstar, has always spoken of female empowerment in her songs. Now, she’s passing that message along to her daughter, Blue Ivy — in a big way.

In a new video, the singer, who has just kicked off a 65-date world tour in Serbia, reveals she tells Blue Ivy she could be the president, every day.

The video is part of a promotion roll-out of a new charity initiative called Chime for Change. Conceived by Gucci, the global charity’s goal is to promote education, health and justice for girls. Beyonce, Salma Hayek Pinault and designer Frida Giannini as founder members all feature in the clip.

Other famous faces in Chime for Change’s video include Star Trek actress Zoe Saldana, Halle Berry, Katy Perry, Arianna Huffington, John Legend and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

Under the overriding message of “2013 is the year of change,” each featured celebrity offers their own interpretation of that.

Beyonce’s personal message in the video is:

“I’m telling my daughter every day, you know you can be president, you know it’s possible. I know she has no idea why I’m saying that, but at one-year-old, I’m like, you know you can be president.”

If anyone should know how far cultivating a big dream can take you, the Grammy Award winning, multi-million selling Houston native is probably a great place to start.

Recently announced as the co-chair of the upcoming fashion mecca, the Net Ball, and new face of H&M, the 31-year-old self-declared “modern feminist” has also invited the non-profit organisation Goodwill Industries to set up donation drives at each of her concerts on the North American leg of the “Mrs. Carter Show” tour to encourage fans to “give back.”

Beyonce is also confirmed to perform at a Chime For Change concert in London on June 1, with a number of high profile artists. Proceeds from the Twickenham Stadium event will benefit various programs in the charity.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether Blue Ivy does in fact grow up to be the president of the United States, but it’s more likely her mother is actually trying to let her daughter that she can be anything — as can we all.
