The Mississippi gator record has been smashed three times in just one week, with the latest record breaking alligator being the heaviest and longest ever caught in the Magnolia state. The massive creature weighed in at 741.5 pounds, and measured a touch over 13 feet long.

Dalco Turner needed all the help he could get from two hunter friends who accompanied him. It took the three men over an hour to catch the record breaking gator. Turner spoke to the Clarion-Ledger about the catch: “He broke three lines, and I had the only hook that stayed in him the whole time.”

He spoke about that fact that the hunters didn’t think the alligator was big enough to be worth catching: “We passed it by the first time,” he said. “We really didn’t think he was big enough to go after.”

There must be something in the water in Mississippi, which is also known as the hospitality state, as there have been two previous record breaking gators caught this month. On September 1, Beth Trammell caught a 723.5 pound alligator in a canal.

But just one short hour after the canal gator was found by Trammell, Ricky Flynt from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife confirmed that another massive gator, in the Mississippi river had been found and snared by a brave UPS driver, Dustin Bockman from Vickburg. That massive animal was an astounding 727 pounds in weight.

Bockman spoke to Gulf Live about his lucky catch: “He broke all the lines we could put in him. Finally put a snare on him and got him up high enough and put a shot on him. All in all probably took us four and a half hours to catch him from the first time we saw him.” The happy hunter then continued: “We’re going to cook it for sure. There’s plenty for me and everybody else.”

Kacey Musgraves tied the number of CMA Award nominations with Taylor Swift — a feat the newcomer certainly didn’t expect to come so soon.

While Musgraves knew the nominations came out on Tuesday, she didn’t expect to be included. Much to her surprise, Musgraves made history.

Musgraves and Swift both received six nominations for the November 6 awards show in Nashville, reports The Huffington Post. The number makes her the first woman to lead the nominations in her first year as a nominee.

She also did it in a very well-rounded way. Kacey Musgraves was nominated as a singer, songwriter, and producers with album, female vocalist, new artist, single, and two different song of the year entries.

Kacey commented after the nominations were announced, “I had no idea I’d make history.” She added, “It’s really cool, I love that… to be recognized for all those things makes me feel good.”

The Boot notes that Musgraves also recently announced her first headlining tour. The Same Trailer Different Tour will begin on September 19 in New York City and visit 13 cities around the world. It will end with a concert in Athens, Ohio on October 31.

Her album, Same Trailer, Different Park, enjoyed success at No. 1. She released three independent albums before she signed with Mercury Records for her major label debut.

And now she will compete with the best of them for a CMA Award in November. Kacey Musgraves will go up against the likes of Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, and Darius Rucker and hopes to come out on top.

The 47th annual CMA Awards will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. It is the sixth time the pair, who have a rather hilarious relationship, will host the show. It will air live from Nashville on ABC.

The news that Kacey Musgraves has six CMA Award nominations could be a sign that the 25-year-old will enjoy even more success as her budding career continues.

New York Giants running back David Wilson used his Twitter account to lash out at fans upset with his performance Sunday night.

The Cowboys beat the Giants 36-31 in a game Wilson fumbled twice early, rushed for 19 yards, and was benched. He was replaced by backup Da’Rel Scott. Scott didn’t fare much better and only rushed for 23 yards.

A number of fantasy football owners were counting on Wilson to put up points. Sports fans have never been a breed to keep quiet, especially east coast fans. Wilson heard an earful and decided to fire back at his critics.

On Twitter Wilson wrote, “Ayy to fantasy participants and pissed Giants fans ur irrelevant to me!!! Nobody wants me to succeed more than ME!!! WATCH US WORK!”

Wilson needs to be smarter about how he uses social media. As silly as it sounds, this is exactly why Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin follows all his players on Twitter.

Earlier today the Giants signed former running back Brandon Jacobs and the message is clear. Da’Rel Scott may not have been very good, but Wilson’s starting job is far from safe.

Brandon Jacobs played for the Giants from from 2005 to 2011. He rushed for 1,000 yards twice but was considered too immature to be a franchise running back. Last season he played for the 49ers, but was cut after complaining about his lack of playing time.

Now Jacobs is back in New York, hopefully one year older and one year wiser. In some ways he has more to prove than David Wilson.

The spotlight is not on Jacobs though. Wilson has clearly put the spotlight on himself. Here is his tweet:

It will be interesting to see what the Giants do next. David Wilson was already in the hot seat, now that seat is probably burning. New York might also decide to see what they have in Da’Rel Scott this next week and really punish Wilson.

We hear a lot about the things teens nowadays do wrong. Here is a feel-good story. A teen returned money his father allegedly stole from an elderly widow.

Tona Herndon, who had recently lost her husband of 60 years, was robbed by a man while visiting his grave site at the cemetery.

Mr. Herndon has passed away the week before and was recently buried. His wife was visiting his grave when she was mugged by Shane Lunsford.

Police uncovered a surveillance video while conducting their investigation of the mugging and put the attacker behind bars.

Now for the good part of the story.

Christian Lunsford, the robber’s 15-year-old son, tried to undo the wrong his father had done to Herndon. He asked to meet the woman at a the First Baptist Church.

And he did. He apologized and went beyond that, giving Herndon $250 his father had recently given him for a trip.

The teen returned the money his father took from the woman, doing the right thing and said he was not surprised to learn his dad was responsible for her mugging.

“When I found out this whole situation, I didn’t know if it was hers or his or how — I just knew I needed to give the money to her.”

Herndon remembers the day of the mugging vividly and was struck by Shane Lunsford’s eyes,

“I looked him right in the eyes and there was a look in his eyes,” she noticed. “It was a look of pain and my thought was, ‘He doesn’t really want to do this.’”

The widow was very impressed with the young man’s actions saying that his family is very blessed to have him and thanked him for what he wanted to do.

“I thank them so much for what they wanted to do, to make things right. That was wonderful.” Tona Herndon added.

She was so touched by the teen returning her money that she decided to give it right back to him.

“I didn’t expect that at all, but it meant a lot. I was very surprised actually,” the teen said. He says he will use the money for a band trip this fall.

Considering the less than positive beginning of the story, it had a relatively happy ending when the stand-up teen decided to do the right thing and return the money to the elderly woman.

Taylor Swift and Australian actor Brenton Thwaites got flirty during their meeting while at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIIF).

The 23-year-old country star was at the TIIF on Monday, September 9 for the screening of the movie One Chance in which one of her songs is featured.

During a private party held at Soho House, Swift met the handsome young Aussie actor Brenton Thwaites.

According to an eyewitness the pair talked for about an hour in a booth and made each other laugh, Us Weekly reports.

Thwaites, 24, is a newcomer who is in Toronto to promote his film Oculus and according to the witness was very cozy with Taylor Swift.

Whether something is going on with the pair, we don’t know, but we wonder if Thwaites is aware that Swift’s boyfriends usually end up being part of her songs after break-ups.

Taylor Swift’s last flame, Harry Styles, from the British boy band One Direction, is her latest target. The two broke up earlier in the year and met up publicly at the MTV Video Music Awards in what has been described as an awkward encounter.

According to onlookers, Brenton Thwaites had his arm around Taylor Swift, who looked stunning in a white dress that hugged her shapely figure and showed some skin, with a slit on each side of her waist.

“She touched his leg a few times. They seemed very into each other.” the eyewitness told Us Weekly.

The pair even posed for some photos together with their arms around each other.

Even though this was supposedly their first meeting and we don’t know if there is anything else going on between them, the two looked like they were enjoying each other’s company.

Brenton Thwaites was not the only person Taylor Swift talked to at the party. She also hung out with Julia Roberts and others.

NASCAR levied penalties on Monday against Michael Waltrip Racing for alleged race-rigging during Saturday night’s race at Richmond International Raceway.

The alleged rigging included an unscheduled pit stop by Brian Vickers and a spin by Clint Bowyer with seven laps to go. With the new penalties in place, Martin Truex Jr. is out of the Chase for the Sprint Cup. He is replaced by Ryan Newman, who likely would have won the race, and a spot in the Chase, if Bowyer had not have spun.

NASCAR’s vice president for competition, Robin Pemberton, announced the penalties on Monday, according to NASCAR.com. Pemberton explained:

“It is our determination that the MWR organization attempted to manipulate the outcome of the race. As the sport’s sanctioning body, it is our responsibility to ensure there is a fair and level playing field for all of our competitors and this action today reflects our commitment to that.”

All three MWR teams were docked 50 owner and driver points each. The team was also fined $300,000 and Ty Norris, MWR’s executive vice president and Vickers’ spotter, was suspended indefinitely. The team’s three crew chiefs are on probation until December 31.

While the penalties were stiff, not everyone was pleased to see Clint Bowyer still in the Chase. ESPN’s Ed Hinton suggested that it would have been better to remove Bowyer from the Chase as well and put Jeff Gordon in his place.

Gordon was also stiffed by the alleged race-rigging, as Vickers’ pit stop allowed Joey Logano to edge ahead of him by one point. Hinton explained, “In retrospect, it appears Gordon earned a berth as Newman did, and then was robbed as Newman was.”

While the team will likely never admit responsibility for apparently rigging the Richmond race, Michael Waltrip announced that he will not appeal the ruling. In making their ruling against MWR, NASCAR reviewed video of the incidents and in-car audio of the drivers. In-car audio of Bowyer’s team revealed that the driver may have intentionally spun to bring out a caution, because Newman was leading.

While Bowyer later stated that his car was tight and there was something wrong with it, Dale Earnhardt Jr., who was running behind the MWR driver, told his crew chief over the radio, “Looked a little intentional to me there, bud… He was on the brakes in the middle of the corner trying to spin it out, trying to slow down.”

While NASCAR President Mike Helton stated on Saturday that the organization didn’t have evidence of race-rigging, it appears that changed.

Production on The Mortal Instruments: City Of Ashes has shut down. Constantin Film put the kabosh on the sequel after the firm movie debuted with a yawn inspiring $37 million worldwide. The movie cost $60 million to produce and that cost doesn’t including prints and advertising costs.

The team at Constantin Film announced the movies shutdown but did not say if the movie would eventually resume filming.

The movies sequel was supposed to start shooting next week but is shut down indefinitely.

City of Ashes is based on the bestselling fantasy novel by Cassandra Clare. The movie would have followed up the recently released The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

Constantin Films released the following statement:

”Constantin Film’ has a long tradition of adapting books to the big screen. Pushing back the start of production of ‘City of Ashes’ was a decision we did not take lightly. But after speaking with all of our partners on the creative and distribution side, it was clear that it will be beneficial to have more time to reposition the film in the current market place,” said executive producer Martin Moszkowicz of Constantin. “‘The Mortal Instruments’ series has an incredibly loyal and ardent fan base and is a bestselling book series. While taking Cassandra Clare’s vision to the screen, we want to make sure to draw on the full potential of the franchise.”

Harald Zwart was set to direct the sequel just as he did the first movie.

Also signed on to return are stars Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower and Kevin Zegers. Sigourney Weaver had also been expected to join the ensemble.

Movie adaptations of books have struggled of late and The Mortal Instruments: City Of Ashes may be a product of those continued failures.

New college rankings from U.S. News and World Report have come under fire for placing too much emphasis on reputation and ignoring other important measures of quality.

The rankings were released on Monday, showing three familiar Ivy League schools in the top spots — Princeton, Harvard, and Yale. The three are typically at the top of the list, and that, critics say, is part of the problem.

The new college rankings use a combination of factors to evaluate schools, including graduation rates, reputation through surveys, and the number of alumni who contribute in the form of donations.

But cost is not a big factor in the college rankings, which critics say skews the list toward schools with well-established reputations.

“We have discovered people are spending a huge amount of money on higher education without having a good idea about what they are getting for their money,” said Isabel Sawhill, senior fellow at the Brookings Institute. “That has caused the president to put forward a new proposal, which says we need a new college ratings system.”

Obama’s proposed system would evaluate colleges using a scorecard that puts the focus on value rather than reputation. These rankings from the Department of Education would then be used as the basis for federal student aid funding.

Leaders at Howard University, a traditionally black school in the Washington area, see problems with the new college rankings as well. After a period of turbulence including a split among board members, the school dropped from among the top 100 nationally to No. 142 on this year’s list.

“While I am concerned and we will look closely at the data, the U.S. News and World Report rankings represent one indicator of academic quality,” Howard President Sidney A. Ribeau said in a statement.

Ribeau said there are many factors that show Howard’s “exceptional quality” like rising graduation rates and strength in the field of medicine and dentistry, but these are left out of the new college rankings entirely.

Jasmine Jordan has been the subject of gay rumors lately amid reports that she’s dating a member of the Syracuse women’s basketball team, but the daughter of Michael Jordan doesn’t want to broach the topic.

The subject of Jasmine Jordan’s sexuality came up last week when Media Take Out wrote on a gossip blog that claimed she was dating a member of the basketball team named Carmen. The blog pointed to the fact that Jordan and Carmen were seen in an intimate Instagram photo.

The 20-year-old Jordan then took to Instagram to address the rumors, saying she is fine with the the attention she’s gotten but wanted her followers to keep their responses positive.

“I don’t consider myself a celebrity or anything like that,” she wrote in the Instagram post. “I’m a human being. Nothing more or less! But PLEASE save your negativity for someone who’s going to give a damn about it. That’s not me though.”

This was interpreted by some as Jordan’s way of coming out, but she has not confirmed one way or the other.

Jasmine seems to be taking a much more laid back approach then when she first entered college. Speaking to the Chicago blog The Boss Up in July, she said that she dealt with a lot of “dirty looks” and “whispers and rumors” when she first arrived at Syracuse, though it was mostly related to her famous father rather than her sexual preference.

“People assume I play basketball or wear Jordan’s everyday and neither of those is true,” she said. “I do not play basketball but I know the game. I don’t wear Jordan’s everyday because I like to switch it up. I always say I’m a pretty open book. You want to know what it is like being Michael Jordan’s daughter just ask me instead of making assumptions and drawing incorrect conclusions about me.”

If Jasmine Jordan is gay, she would have good company among children of NBA legends. A few months ago, Magic Johnson’s son came out as gay and got a public show of support from his father.

A state trooper was shot and killed during a routine traffic stop in Western Michigan.

Trooper Paul Butterfield stopped a vehicle at about 6:20 pm in Sherman Township. Butterfield gave the dispatcher the vehicle’s location and license plate number and then approached the car.

Butterfield was then shot in the head and left for dead on the side of the road.

A motorist passing by called 911 to report that a state trooper had been shot. Butterfield was taken to the hospital but died shortly after arrival.

State police Lt. Chris McIntire said that Butterfield followed proper protocol during the traffic stop and because of the information he provided the state police were able to locate the vehicle at a nearby gas station.

McIntire said: “What he did was perfect… You can’t prepare for something like this. He did the right thing.”

The state police found the two suspects at a gas station in Wellston. Officers exchanged gunfire with the two suspects before taking them into custody. A male suspect was shot by police officers and was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A female suspect was also taken into custody.

All of the officers at the scene escaped without injuries. No charges have been filed.

McIntire said: “We have a lot to do yet. We are trying to piece the investigation together. We want to do it right.”

After the state trooper was shot and killed, Governor Rick Snyder ordered all U.S. flags to be lowered to half-staff. The flags will remain at half-staff until after Butterfield’s funeral.

Snyder said: “This senseless incident is a grim reminder that our brave public safety officers put their lives on the line every day when they go to work protecting Michiganders… They are heroes.”

The USA men’s national soccer team beat Mexico 2-0 on Tuesday night in Columbus. The victory qualified the USA for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

As the game ended chants of, “USA! USA! USA!” could be heard throughout the stadium.

Led by Landon Donovan, the men’s team stepped up and won their 12^th international match in their last 13 tries. It was also the 4^th victory in a row against Mexico on American soil. Each game ended with identical 2-0 scores.

Eddie Johnson scored the first goal in the matches 49^th minute on a corner kick. Landon Donovan gave Johnson a strike from the corner and Johnson didn’t miss.

Donovan then added a goal in the 78^th minute to make the score 2-0. USA then had another chance to score in the 93^rd minute when Clint Dempsey was awarded a penalty kick. Dempsey kicked the ball wide though and insult was not added to injury.

All team USA needed was one goal though. The game proved overwhelming for Mexico, a team which used to be a soccer power worldwide.

The game took place at Columbus Crew Stadium, home of Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew. There were 24,584 in attendance. In a surprise, most were there in support of USA. It may sound odd, but most international soccer games on American soil get heavy support for the opposing team.

After the victory all team USA had to do was wait for was the outcome of the Honduras versus Panama game. As the whistle blew in Columbus, Honduras was starting the second half with a 1-0 lead over Panama. A win or a tie by Honduras would secure the win for USA.

The remainder of the Honduras game was shown in the stadium in Columbus as fans waited around to party.

Honduras tied 2-2. Team USA got the party it was waiting for and officially qualified for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Actress Aisha Tyler opened up about her infertility during a candid interview on The Talk. Tyler fought back tears as she went public with her struggle.

The 42-year and her attorney husband Jeff Tietjens have been trying to start a family, even going so far as to undergo painful and costly in vitro fertilization treatments (IVF).

But the medical procedures didn’t work out, reports The Houston Chronicle. Recently, Tyler decided to halt the treatments, or what she called the “torture” of hormone injections.

The actress explained that she had “some problems with a torturous fallopian tube.” Because of this, it is very difficult for her to get pregnant. But after going through numerous shots, the doctor had bad news.

Tyler revealed that the doctor told her, “Look, based on what we’re seeing here, I just don’t think this is going to happen to you and I think you really need to think about whether you want to spend all this money and go through all this emotional effort and probably still not get pregnant.”

The San Francisco Chronicle notes that, for Aisha Tyler, the hardest part about her infertility has been that she can’t give her husband kids. The actress commented, “The hardest part, I think, is I really love my husband, he’s such a good person and he would be such a great father.”

While “it was better to not go through that torture,” Tyler told her hosts that she still felt awful about it. She told her husband, “I’m sorry that I can’t do this for you, that I can’t give you kids.”

Aisha’s revelation left her co-hosts in tears, but she still insisted she was okay. The actress added that she and her husband will wait a while before they talk about other parenting options.

Tyler stated that she loves “the idea of adoption,” but for now, the wounds surrounding Aisha Tyler’s infertility are too fresh to consider adopting.

A rare pink dolphin made an appearance this week in a Louisiana lake, giving a glimpse of a famous marine mammal that’s been known to make an appearance now and then.

The pink dolphin lives in the waters of Cameron Parish, and was first spotted in 2007 swimming in the Calcasieu Ship Channel. The animal is actually an albino, and the lack of pigmentation ends up giving it a pinkish hue.

Locals have spotted the dolphin — which has been given the nickname “Pinky” — a number of times over the last few years. The latest time was by James Stark and Kaylin Quinn, who this week emailed the picture of the animal to a local news outlet.

Their shot of the pink dolphin poking its head above the water has become a viral hit, with the news story being picked up across the country.

Pinky has made other appearances. In 2009, a charter boat captain named Eric Rue captured a series of photographs of the pink dolphin.

“I just happened to see a little pod of dolphins, and I noticed one that was a little lighter,” he said of the encounter. “It was absolutely stunningly pink. I had never seen anything like it. It’s the same color throughout the whole body and it looks like it just came out of a paint booth.”

Rue said he’s spotted the pink dolphin close to 50 times before, as it took up residence in the ship channel where he often traveled.

“As time has passed the young mammal has grown and sometimes ventures away from its mother to feed and play but always remains in the vicinity of the pod,” he said. “Surprisingly, it does not appear to be drastically affected by the environment or sunlight as might be expected considering its condition, although it tends to remain below the surface a little more than the others in the pod.”

Jurassic Park 4 will be heading to theaters in June of 2015.

According to Variety, the fourth installment in the Jurassic Park series will be titled Jurassic World. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, 2015.

Universal was originally planning to have the movie ready in 2014 but the studio pushed back production to give director Colin Trevorrow sometime to work on the script.

The first draft of the movie was written by Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Trevorrow and producer Pat Crowley are now working on their own draft of the script. It’s unclear if Jaffa and Silver’s work has been tossed away or if the new draft is merely revision.

Regardless, plot details for Jurassic World are not known yet.

Of course, now that we have a title we can do some speculating. Jurassic World is an interesting title and may hint at a few things about the new movie. For one, “Park” is noticeably absent from the title. Jurassic Park: The Lost World saw dinosaurs briefly reach the United States but all three of the Jurassic Park movies have primarily been set in one location.

Cinema Blend notes that 2015 is shaping up to be a record breaking year at the box office. Chaz Bono looks like a new man. The 44-year-old son of Cher and Sonny Bono appeared on the show The Doctors today to talk about his weight loss success.

Bono appeared on The Doctors last year when he weighed about 250 pounds. The reality star said that he wanted to turn his life around and set a goal for himself to lose 50 pounds in the next year.

Well, Bono accomplished that in a few months.

Bono hit his weight loss goal after a few months of hard work but the reality star has repeatedly said this journey isn’t about hitting a certain number. After hitting his weight loss goal, Bono continued to work out and eat right and he is now down about 65 pounds.

Today on The Doctors Bono said that he was finally “comfortable in his own skin.”

Bono said: “I just feel much more comfortable in my skin now… Everything is easier. Everything physically is easier. Everything feels better. And then emotionally, I just feel more comfortable and more confident.”

Bono said that his weight loss journey was difficult but added that it could have been a lot worse. The former Dancing With The Stars contestant said that he has had a lot of support from his friends, his family, and The Doctors.

A pair of teenage girls who put a kitten into their microwave and then switched it on, have found themselves in trouble with the police. It’s not surprising since the foolish girls posted a video of the kitten nuking on Twitter.

The two girls, both aged 15, now face animal cruelty charges after the video they posted went viral on Friday. Thankfully the kitten wasn’t actually harmed in the incident, but the video shocked and outraged residents of South Portland, where the girls live.

The short clip is distressing to watch, especially if you are a cat lover. It shows one of the girls stuffing the poor kitty into the microwave on the counter. After she switches on the microwave the kitten can be seen freaking out. The other girl then quickly opens the door and the kitten jumps to the floor.

The girls, who are students at the South Portland High School, were issued with court summonses on Tuesday. The kitten was handed over to animal welfare officers from the local Animal Rescue League who are treating it.

In a Facebook post the rescue center said that the kitten was doing well and that she has been renamed Miracle, for obvious reasons. The hope is that she can forget her past trauma of nearly being cooked in a microwave, and move on with her life.

“She’s eating normally, she seems to be in fine shape,” said Lynne McGee from the refuge.

Once Miracle has grown a bit she will be ready for a new home. After what she has been through, along with the viral video of her ordeal on Twitter, it shouldn’t be hard for her to find the right owners, to give her the life she deserves.

Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” music video sparked more controversy, and she really should have known.

The latest music video from the internet’s new princess of shock value had her licking a demolition hammer and riding a wrecking ball naked except for her boots. Now the internet is telling Miley Cyrus she should be ashamed again, and it’s really her own fault. Yes, she had an explanation for her latest shenanigans, but it’s really quite naïve that she would think anyone would actually see it the way she had intended.

Miley Cyrus had to have known that if she made a music video naked, the internet would focus on her being naked. It’s how most of us are, and you can’t change that by trying to get a different message across in the song.

In her defense, Miley Cyrus told Z100′s morning show host Elvis Duran on Wednesday about her now-infamous “Wrecking Ball” video, “I think the video is much more. If people get past the point I make, and you actually look at me, you can tell I look more broken than even the song sounds.”

We could tell if we looked at it the right way that Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” video was actually about making herself vulnerable before a breakup, but unfortunately the instant she decided to get on the camera naked and lick the hammer, the meaning was lost to most viewers.

The twerking star added, “if people can take their minds off the obvious and go into their imagination and see what the video really means, it is so vulnerable. … If you look at my eyes, I look more sad than actually my voice sounds on the record. It was a lot harder to actually do the video than it was to even record the song. It was much more of an emotional experience.”

Seriously, Miley Cyrus, did you actually think people were going to look past your lack of clothes in that video? Did you think we were going to see you licking a hammer and think, “She’s in pain”?

It really looks like Miley Cyrus is just taking a wrecking ball to her clean image and can’t figure out why everybody’s shocked.

9/11 Benghazi victims are being remembered in memorial today, with the actions of Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty, and Tyrone Woods being being held in high honor.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Benghazi was attacked by al Qaeda with a bomb blast on the one year anniversary, shaking the very city in which these men gave their lives.

The Benghazi Scandal

The original Benghazi scandal began when internal security at Benghazi was reduced from 34 people to just three by the State Department. Instead, groups known to be tied to al Qaeda terrorists were hired to guard the Benghazi consulate. These terror-linked guards abandoned Benghazi shortly before the 9/11 attack. Benghazi whistleblower Greg Hicks testified before Congress that an attempt to rescue the 9/11 Benghazi victims was called off when they received an order to “stand down,” which resulted in the deaths of the Benghazi victims.

The State Department and the White House changed the Benghazi talking points significantly before the attack was announced to the public, which eventually led to a Benghazi investigation by Congress. The Obama administration even blamed a film about Muslims for the Benghazi attacks, and the director was arrested and put in jail. The actions of the Obama administration caused some to claim the Benghazi scandal should impeach Obama since it’s alleged his decisions regarding to Benghazi were undertaken for political reasons, with Obama not wanting to look weak on national defense.

Testimony shows Hillary Clinton, Charlene Lamb, and several other State Department officials made decisions resulting in the 9/11 Benghazi attacks. The State Department officially said some of these people resigned but as it turned out they were just on paid administrative leave. As facts about the case became known Hillary Clinton’s 2016 approval rating dropped due to Benghazi.

The scandal deepened when Benghazi whistleblowers claimed Libyan missile launchers were being given to Syrian rebels by the CIA without the authorization of Congress. The United States was officially only offering medical and communications aid to the Syrian rebels at the time of the Benghazi attacks. Congress only recently allowed Obama to arm the Syrian rebels with the stipulation to limit the Syrian rebels to “small weapons” like rifles and anti-tank weapons. Since some people claim the Obama Administration violated the War Powers Resolution with the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi. So now Obama’s decisions regarding Syria are being scrutinized, with some worried a Syria conflict could trigger World War 3.

9/11 Benghazi Victims Honored In Memorial

Attorney General Eric Holder briefly mentioned the 9/11 Benghazi victims during a memorial today:

“We pay tribute to each of them, and to many others who have given their lives in the service of this country since 9/11, from the soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines who have fought on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan, to patriots, like Glen Doherty, Tyrone Woods, Sean Smith, and Ambassador Chris Stevens, who were taken from us just one year ago in Libya.”

After speaking about the victims of the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, President Obama also spoke highly of Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Glend Doherty, and Tyrone Woods:

“We pray for all those who’ve stepped forward in those years of war, diplomats who serve in dangerous posts, as we saw this day last year in Benghazi, intelligence professionals, often unseen and unheralded, who protect us in every way, our men and women in uniform who defend this country that we love.”

9/11 Benghazi Victims Families Fight For Justice

But the families of the 9/11 Benghazi victims do not believe the Obama administration should do more than speak nice words at a memorial. Pat Smith, the mother of Sean Smith, claims President Obama hasn’t kept his word:

“When I was there in Washington, when this first started, the FBI had me in a room to tell me what they were doing. The government is not doing what they should do. Everybody knows this. They lie to you. They tell you what they want you to know. It may or may not be correct. And in my case, it’s always been lies.”

Glen Doherty’s mother thinks the 9/11 Benghazi victims are slowly being forgotten:

“As time marches on, you almost lose their names. They almost become ‘one of four who’ve been killed.’”

Pat Smith was furious when Obama referred to Benghazi as a “phony scandal.” Charles Woods, father of Tyrone Woods, says they “still do not have answers.” It was not until recently that the government named the Benghazi attackers.

After the historic performance by QB Peyton Manning, the Denver Broncos topped the Sports Illustrated NFL Power Rankings. The rankings reflect changes after one week of play.

The Broncos were an easy choice to to the power rankings. To open the season last Thursday Peyton Manning threw seven touchdown passes. The number tied an NFL record. If Denver looked good on paper, they looked really good in live action.

The 49ers came in second, jumping up two spots since the last rankings. Everyone knew San Francisco was good, and now any critics they had should be quiet. Second year starter Colin Kaepernick threw for over 400 yards against Green Bay. Last season not a fluke.

The Seahawks, Saints, and Patriots round out the top five. The Saints pushing in is the most surprising. New Orleans made a big leap from fifteen to four after beating the Falcons. Having Sean Payton back is going to be a good thing for the Saints.

Still, the big story remains the Broncos domination of the power rankings. It’s too early to start talking about it, but if the Denver offense continues to put up crooked scores it will be hard to see them losing.

Two years removed from five neck surgeries Peyton Manning looks better than ever. He has a deadly receiving corps anchored by Demaryius Thomas and Erick Decker. The addition of Wes Welker and emergence of tight end Julius Thomas make this a high flying aerial attack worth the price of admission.

If there is any flaw, the Broncos do need to find a running game. None of their running backs stood out against the Ravens.

At the end of the day it’s still way to early to declare Denver the best team in the NFL. There are still 15 games to go and anything can happen.

Do the Broncos deserve to be at the top of the power rankings? Of course they do. At this point in the season it is incredibly clear that there is one team to beat in the NFL and they a mile above everyone else.

Chicago underground artist Clive Tanaka has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Nicki Minaj claiming that she borrowed components of his 2011 song “Neu Chicago” on 2012 her chart-topping single “Starships.”

Tanaka filed the lawsuit under the name of his company, Tanaka Light Industries USA, in US District Court in Chicago Tuesday. In addition to Minaj, whose real name is Onika Maraj, the lawsuit names producer Nadir “RedOne” Khayat, Carl Falk, Wayne Hector, and Rami Yacoub as defendants. The lawsuit claims that Minaj and her collaborators copied substantial portions of “Neu Chicago,” which he said received widespread airplay and online listens in the US by the time “Starships” was written.

According to the copyright complaint, the song received regular airplay on Los Angeles’ KCRW FM, over 100,000 plays on Last.FM, and over 135,000 views on YouTube. The song was also distributed through iTunes, Amazon, and other services.

“They had a very good opportunity to hear it … We believe they are similar to the point that it is nearly impossible for it to be a coincidence,” Tanaka’s lawyer, Christopher Niro, told the Chicago Tribune.

Tanaka also believes that several of the collaborators were living in Sweden at the same time “Neu Chicago” was featured in advertising campaigns in the country. The song was used in campaigns for clothing retailer KappAhl and FUN Light beverages, as well as an online campaign for ASOS, the UK’s largest online retailer.

The lawsuit claims that “Defendants including Minaj and RedOne copied and incorporated substantial, original portions of Plaintiff’s song, ‘Neu Chicago,’ in Defendants’ musical composition and sound recording, ‘Starships.’” The suit also says that the defendants never sought permission to “copy, duplicate, perform, or otherwise use” the song in “Starships” or at all.

Neither Nicki Minaj nor a representative for the Young Money rapper has responded to Clive Tanaka’s copyright infringement lawsuit.
