U.K. Aquarium Gets Crab 100 Times Larger Than Normal

It seems that some crabs have much better luck than others.  An Australian fisherman was fishing off the coast of Australia when he captured a crab that weighed 100 times what crabs in the United Kingdom weigh.
According to The (U.K.) Daily Mail, Claude, a Tasmanian Giant Crab, was sold to a British aquarium instead of a fine seafood restaurant.
If turned into crab cakes, Claude could have easily produced 160 of the delectable treats.  Instead of winding up gracing the plates of Australian seafood fans, Claude was put on a plane for a 29 hour flight to the SeaLife Center in Dorset, England.  Claude was put into isolation for two weeks in order to get comfortable.  He will be displayed to the public starting tomorrow.

So get your tickets and head over to visit Claude and you can see him bow when he is only 100 times the size of similar crabs in the UK.  Go back in a year and you might be in for an even more amazing sight.  Claude is still a juvenile.  He is supposed to more than double his size over the next year.

Claude is a Tasmanian Giant Crab, whose members can grow up to 19 pounds in the proper condition.  Even still Claude is considered a massive crab for his age and is expected to grow to be on of the largest crabs on record.

Claude will have to go through another year or two of growth before the people from the Guinness Book of World Records can be contacted to verify if Claude is the real deal.
